Samba 2.2.5 is crap.
Unstable windozes (hangs all the time) Major bugs in the printing system, mount and smbmount commands. Samba 2.2.5 is completely usable if you ask me. Crap I would say and should never been released. I consider to change to Beeweb although it cost money. BTW how do u uninstall the dirt?? using ./uninstall ??? ===== Investigating the Norwegain 4.th Secret ServiceThe multiheaded

XP troubles
I've recently recompiled and reinstalled the latest Samba because the version I was running wouldn't talk to Windows XP. It still won't. Can anyone direct me to any docs, howtos, or other docs concerning WinXP problems? Thanks... God's Blessings, Gene To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven. Problem with a printer
I've got cups setup, to do the printwork. A setup, that was used with 2.2.3a of samba (same smb.conf), but it fails with 2.2.5. When using smbclient or the spoot client to connect to the samba printer resource, it tells me that it's a bad network name. Printing problem with Samba, XP, and Xerox Printer
Hello everyone, I am having a problem getting Windows XP clients to print to a Xerox DataCenter 440 using Samba as the print server running on Red Hat Linux 7.2. I have installed the driver once and it worked fine. I then tried to add a second XP client, and while it appears to install and work, nothing comes out of the printer. It even seems to disappear at the print server. Any ideas how I

Redhat firewall problem...
I've just tried setting up a Shrike (9) version of Redhat. Using the medium settings of lokkit, then adding manually accept commands for ports 137/udp 138/udp, 139/tcp and 445/tcp, I thought I should have been ready to go. This isn't the case, however. I know it's not the smb.conf settup because when I kill iptables samba works. When iptables IS running however, it will respond

Another printing problem...
I'm running samba 2.2.3a-6 under Debian (testing) and I am having a heck of a time getting Windows 2000 to print to my printer. I keep getting that "Access denied, unable to connect" message. At one point I had it so you could print test pages, but as soon as you tried to print from an application, it would break. However, that doesn't even work anymore. I've been reading

final tests fail with samba...can anyone help?
Hello, I just took an old PC and installed SuSE 7.0 on it. The machine has 32Mb of RAM, so I needed a slim installation and kernel, and this was the only package I could get to install without immense effort (I tried 5 other versions of small linux distros from linuxiso.org before this one). The version of Samba I installed on this Suse box is 2.0.7. From what I have read, this version SHOULD

How to Install and share a printer in SAMBA/SUSE 8.0 ??
I need a tutorial or a step-by-step routine to install and share printers (local and/or remote) in my "Suse 8.0 Pro" server using SAMBA. I've tried some configurations without full success. The best one prints the job but ejects an extra blank sheet (do you remember me now?). So I decided to install it again from the beginning. Thanks for your attention Best regards? ? Gilberto
