cupsaddsmb and .inf files
Hi,
I've also got problems downloading drivers from samba to a windows client.
I'm running Debian Samba 3.0.7-1, and Cupssys 1.1.20final
My Windows Client is a Win2KPro.
I succesfully installed my printers with Cups and they work fine under
Linux, and from remote cups clients.
I've been trying to follow the samba docs on serving postscript drivers
for cups from the print share in

Need help with printer drivers
Thanks Rowland. I've followed the guide on that page, the following
page looks good:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configuring_Point%27n%27Print_automatic_printer_driver_deployment
However, when I try to add a driver with "Print Management" to the
Samba server, I got an access denied error.
Here's how I did it.

The setup is a samba server with mixed clients (samba clients and
windows clients).
The problem,
I want the linux client to mount there home to their home share on the
server. The problem is, I have followed the guide mentioned below and
everything works except that the linux usernames have the format

Print Server in AD
I would skip all the Windows garbage if you can. Specifically don't have
Windows load printer drivers from shares.
If it's a single office where everyone has the same printer (or the same
multiple printers), the basic process is:
Preload the drivers into the driver store
Add an IPP printer connection to CUPS which doesn't rely on the filesharing
/ print driver hacks that were added

Are your windows machines part of the 'WORKGROUP' workgroup ?
- Yes, and the windows client is not a domain member.
I've checked the system properties, it show WORKGROUP
Does 'work' exist as a Unix user ?
- Yes, otherwise `smbpasswd -a work` complains
Does 'work' exist as a windows user ?
- No, the windows client can be any user.
The current logon username is

APW and Windows 7
Hi,
I have set up my samba server as a print only server. Nothing specific
is wrong. The print server is working but I have a couple of questions
about using APW to install printer drivers and Windows 7.
Linux server: Centos 6
Samba version: 3.6.3 - Default install (./configure; make && make install)
I did the usual,

Wine on Asus eee pc 900 running Xandros.
Hi.
I?m totally new to all that is Linux and so on.
But I really wan?t to learn more about this wonderful os.
I?m using an Asus eee pc 900 and it came preinstalled with Xandros.
Now I get a little confused on which version of wine (if any) will work on it.
I tried to search the site/forum and web but I haven?t found any good answer.
One more question. If wine does not support Xandros, can I then

Help please
I use Xandros Linux and im not sure how to run Wine on it. I thought Xandros
was a debian based linux OS but it doesnt appear to be. I check all of the
other installs and its definitly not red hat linux or else it would be
called red hat. Its not freeBSD. So I desperately want to get Wine but im
stuck. I would appreciate help.

Wireshark LDAP capture vs Diffie-Hellman / pre-master secret - key log file
Hi,
I am trying to debug a new (to me) printer, that should be able to use
AD (for LDAP / address book lookups as well as authentication).
It's been a while since I needed to dump traffic with wireshark; and
evidently it's got harder since I last tried :)
I have generated a wireshark dump on my DC, to see what the printer is
trying to do, using:
dc1$ sudo tcpdump host myprinter and port

Can't compile Wine for Asus 901
I have tried 1.1.7. ./configure says: You need to install Xlib/Xfree... devel.
I have installed x11proto-core-dev, which deprecates 'x-dev', 'cos x-dev is not applicable.
Is it possible to edit configure so that it makes use of x11proto instead ?
I assume asus 901 has Xandros on it, but some say it is Linpus.
Xandros has not replied anything, asus support they have no responsiblity

Confused about versions of R and Debian
I have recently acquired an Asus EEE PC which runs a version of
Xandros which I believe to be a fork of Debian. I have been using R
under various versions of Windows for some years but this is my first
move into the world of Unix. I have installed Texlive from a CD and I
have successfully added a UK-based repository and installed Texmaker.
Now I would like to add R. There are dire warnings on

Connection reset by peer / The network is busy
I have seen posts concerning this in the archives, but with no real
solution. I've seen it first-hand twice now.
I am running Debian Woody, with us3.samba.org's Samba 3 sources added to my
apt-sources. 3.0.2a was the first version of Samba installed. The
SMB.conf is used off of a previous "Test" system, then updated to reflect
changes in the network as it stands now.
