RE: ANY HOPE GETTING RESPONSE TO QUESTIONS? - samba3.0alpha15 - s olar is 8
Just replying to let you know I'm listening =)... Sorry Dave, I'm running 2.2.3a on my Solaris 8 machine and even that still has some issues with winbind. By the way, while I have the attention of you Solaris Gurus... I was trying to make my Ultra 1 boot from an external disk on the same scssi channel as the default boot disk. I changed my /etc/vfstab for the new disk to have the right

Re: ANY HOPE GETTING RESPONSE TO QUESTIONS? - samba3.0alpha15 - solar is 8
First, don't shout when you set the subject. It just looks like spam. >* Why does testparm complain about can't find include file? > Can't find include file Something tells me that you have an include line in your conf file in the form of include = /usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf.%m which it tries to include, for every machine that accesses your server, and of course fails,

Configure problems in samba 2.2.4 and 2.2.5 on both Irix and sola ris
I've built samba by hand before , but I've never seen this message, perhaps you can shed some light. I suddenly can't get past the ./configure script. ./configure --prefix=/usr/samba --with-winbind --with-automount gives me the following error: checking for conflicting AUTH_ERROR define in rpc/rpc.h ... no checking for test routines ... configure: error: can't find

solaris 8/samba3.0alpha15: ld.so.1: ls: fatal: relocation error: file /lib/nss_winbind.so.1: symbol socket: referenced symbol not found
Any hope getting an answer for this? If you do an ls -la in a directory that is part of a path of a share, you get the following error: ld.so.1: ls: fatal: relocation error: file /lib/nss_winbind.so.1: symbol socket: referenced symbol not found Killed So, for example, if you have a share: [monkey] comment = monkey path = /export/home/monkey #guest account =

RE: solaris 8/samba3.0alpha15: ld.so.1: ls: fatal: relocation err or: file /lib/nss_winbind.so.1: symbol socket: referenced symbol not fou nd
The LIBS line at the top of the Makefile read: LIBS=-lsec -lgen -lresolv -lsocket -lnsl -ldl Is there somewhere else that I need to add -lsocket? I had the same problem. You need to go into your Makefile and add the [LIBS] definition to the part where winbind.so is linked. Just take it on to the end of the line and run "make" and "make install" again. You might want to do a "make uninstall" and a "make clean" first. -Dan -----Original Message----- From: Jelmer Vernooij [mailto:jelmer@nl.linux.org]

reversing domain and user name?
I can get authentication to work on linux 7.1 with samba 3.0alpha15 if I make valid users = @"INS+Domain Users", but if I try to set valid users to just a single user: valid users = INS+DavidSha, it fails to give me access. I see the following in log.winbindd. It looks like it is looking for a domain called DavidSha?!? My winbindd separator is +. Can somebody please respond to this.

User nobody logging in to shares instead of domain us er
I am assuming that you have guest ok = yes, and that guest is the nobody account. It sounds like your name lookups are not searching winbind, do you have winbind in your nsswitch.conf file for password and group? Have you restarted your nameservice lookups (automatic on solaris, nsadmin restart on Irix, don't know about other platforms but a reboot should certainly take care of it if you

Samba help for domain user setup (samba 3.x)
How do I interpret what this mean? @"prfmstrt2+Domain Users" What is prfmstrt2? Is that a group created in /etc/group? I take it the + is a winbind seperator. What is the manner of assigning domain users to have access to a share? Do I still need to create the domain user name in /etc/passwd, assign it to a group in /etc/group? Do I need to use smbgroupedit to make the domain

Domain name lookup combinations setting?
I see in my workstation log trying to connect to my samba server an attempt to find my username. If I do wbinfo -u | grep -i davidsha, it returns INS+DavidSha. Do I need to change something so that it tries more combinations or something? I thought just passwords were case sensitive. RIS UNDI
Hello, I'm still trying to setup RIS (Remote Installation Service -w2k) with PXE Linux, but before that I must say that the mail list archive is a _good_ idea. Back to RIS. When I start from pxelinux memdisk initrd=risbootdisk.img I get an error: No UNDI Driver found. The risbootdisk.img is a bootdisk from Microsoft, which starts a RIS installation. When I boot from floppy it works fine,

Samba 3 as PDC and a Windows 2000 Server for RIS
Hello, I would like to install a Windows 2000 Server and configure it with RIS (remote installation services). The server is in a domain where a Samba 3 server, a machine with SuSE Linux and Samba 3.0.20b-3.4-SUSE, plays the PDC role. The PDC works well. When I try to configure RIS in the application wizard (appwiz.cpl) of that Windows 2000 Server machine, it tells me that the setup for RIS

Sola 305 with INT-0051 cable
Hello again, I have a Sola 305 (aka Powerware 3110) here connected via a serial INT-0051 cable which I am trying to get working with nut. The driver.list file indicates that nut supports the Sola 305 when connected via the INT-0025C cable using the genericups driver with upstype set to 7 but it does not mention the INT-0051. I was able to use the "Basic CheckUPS II" utility provided

pxelinux and Windows 2000 RIS
I've put up some notes on my experiences which I hope will be useful to some people, especially since there is so little information on the Web. Perhaps they could be added to the pxelinux site. http://www.tarantule.btinternet.co.uk/ris.htm Patrick
