Virus Question
Hi, the Wine program seems great. I run Eudora in WinXP, and this program
will enable me to run Eudora in Fedora 3 and use the same mailboxes via
Captive-NTFS - and so I will always have my email up-to-date.
I have one big concern: viruses. Is it possible for me to get infected
with a virus using Wine? If I got infected, how well could the virus
infect my system? Meaning, I plan to

Password when connecting
I just got Samba up and running on my RH 7.2 machine (installed
from source) and can finally see it. The problem is that it's asking
for a password to access the computer. I thought I commented out
all the parts pertaining to passwords, but I must have commented
something I should have, or missed one. What I am trying to access
is a public r/w share. Can someone give me a hint.

Linux virus
ugh :)
Today I became infected with the bliss virus, any info on this would be
appreciated! How do I scan for files infected and is it possible to
remove it? I first noticed the infection when running a program (not as
root) messages flashed on the screen about transversing directories and
such. The program (gimp) had been working fine since I downloaded the
binary for gimp from their main

[LLVMdev] Intel Memory Protection Extensions (and types question)
Hi all,
I'm currently adding new instructions and registers to the X86 code
generator for Intel Memory Protection Extensions [1].
A class of special-purpose registers BNDx each holds 2 x 64-bit values.
The components are not individually readable or writable (except by
going through memory) but there are instructions that read only one
of the two elements. The two 64-bit values can be

That would be great. If there is something I can do to collect data or troubleshoot, please let me know.

[POSSIBLE FRAUD] Re: [EXTERNAL] Tripp Lite INTERNET750U instant commands ?
After a quick glance, it looks like that older version of the INTERNET750U supports only a few controls Shutdown of the inverter, cancelling that shutdown, setting the delay for the shutdown timer, and enabling/disabling a USB watchdog function.
My *guess* is that Network UPS Tools is just exposing the shutdown command as one command.
Does that help?
Note to users with the same model but

Non-executable stack
Hi all
Does FreeBSD support a non-executable stack on any of the tier 1 and 2
platforms that has this feature?
If not, are there any plans of implementing this and is there a patch I can
use for 6.0 (when it is released)?
Best regards

[LLVMdev] Debugging of LLVM-IR
Unfortunately, the current gdb support doesn't include line numbers.
It'll tell you what function it crashed in and the stack trace though.
Line numbers will probably come when the llvm-mc project is merged into the JIT.

"Can't claim USB device [09ae:3024]: could not detach kernel driver from interface 0: Operation not permitted"
Is probably an issue with NUT grabbing the UPS... can you disconnect and reconnect the USB cable and try again?
If that fails, maybe a udev rule will help.
Thank you,

[LLVMdev] Debugging of LLVM-IR
Hello,
is there any way to debug a program in LLVM-IR line-by-line (i.e. with gdb)?
The problem is, i have a program in human-readable-intermediate representation that segfaults, when executed. I want to know, which line in the IR causes this.
Any help is appreciated.
Best regards,
Sebastian

[LLVMdev] Debugging of LLVM-IR
I suspected something like that. :(
I was hoping i could run the program and step throught IR-Code line by line, maybe even have a look at the variables.
Well, what about compiling it into assembler-code. Is there any way to know which IR-line generated which assembler line(s)? (I do not need any optimizations or whatever, if that helps...)

OMNIVSX1000D Compatibility
David,
Thank you. I created a Github issue (https://github.com/networkupstools/nut/issues/808). I don't know who monitors those tickets, but no one has responded to my previous issue on that project repository about the AVRX550U, so it's unclear if the right person is going to see this one. Can you tell me what other models use the 3024 protocol? Listing those may help provide

Are you running this in a JIT? If so this will help: http://llvm.org/docs/DebuggingJITedCode.html.

Borrowing from our friends at Ask Ubuntu ( https://askubuntu.com/a/276637 ) there is. I've modified it for use with a Tripp Lite UPS and 3024 protocol below. Try disconnect/reconnect after and see what happens.

# /etc/udev/rules.d/90-nut-ups.rules

OMNIVSX1000D Compatibility
Thank you David. I think the end goal of making this UPS compatible with NUT helps both Tripp-Lite and NUT users in that greater compatibility insures more users purchase Tripp-Lite products. I do understand Tripp-Lite wanting to do their due diligence to protect IP, however, it seems like unless NUT devs can get a hold of some sort of documentation, it's more difficult to make this and

Tested a Ubuntu 18.04 LTS virtual machine with NUT 2.7.4 and a 3024 protocol Tripp Lite UPS (mine is a INTERNET550U, but same protocol)
:/etc/nut$ lsusb | grep Tripp

I it got generally working (outputting reasonable responses to upsc, although there are some issues with variables like frequency) by adding productid=3024 to my ups.conf. Like this:

Hi Jean-Roch,
No. There is no user-facing firmware update process available.
If there are any particular commands you're interested in on a newer unit, I can look them up.

? Password Protection ?
Say I have some directories I want to password protect.
sub.web-app.com/cms
sub.web-app.com/cms_posts
sub.web-app.com/cms_photos
sub.web-app.com/cms_news
where /cms is a page that allows access(links) to all three other cms
pages.

Does anyone have any quick advice on how to password protect these
areas?
Any good online tutorials?
Any advice?
