Samba 2.0.7, cannot find netbios names
When I try to Ping a server using it's netbios name it reports the following: ping: unknown host 'Tux' (or other netbios name) When I ping it using the IP address, it works fine. I can ping using the netbios name on my 2.0.6 Samba server (on another system). I can't find any relevant messages in the log file as to why this is happening (just requests from other systems to for name

smbmount shares not lasting
I've got a machine running RedHat Linux 6.2 on a P-II400 with 256MB of ram. I'm mounting shares in the manner 'mount -t smbfs -o uid=user, gid=group //server/share /mount/point'. The server is a genuine NT 4 server, with SP5 and a couple of hotfixes. I mounted a couple of shares yesterday, and overnight the stopped working. When accessing the share, I get an error message that

Hi, This is my first time mailing to this site. I am running two different versions of Samba on two different servers. 2.0.6 on server A & 2.0.7 on server B In the smb.conf file for 2.0.6 I have a parameter, allow hosts=, that contains multipul IP addresses on each entry & in the global entry. On server B, 2.0.7, I do not have this parameter defined on any entry. My question is :

2.0.7: inherit permissions = yes breaks setting read-only on files
Hi, While testing the upgrade from 2.0.6 to 2.0.7 I found some kind of misbehaviour of inherit permissions. It was already known that the SGID bit on directories is only useable with "inherit permissions = yes". Most of my shares depend heavily on this (unix) feature. Today I found out I cannot change a file attribute to read-only from NT while "inherit permissions" is set

Samba 1.9.x vs 2.0.7 not connecting to MS DOS Server
I am not sure if this is a bug or a feature... The 2.0.7 version no longer wants to connect to a DOS 6.22/DOS LANMAN2.1 (wg1049.exe) server. Version 1.9.18 does work. Both smbclient and (more importantly for our needs) smbmount fail. However, both work fine with win95 boxes. The problem seems specific to the DOS server. I could not find any reference to this issue. Am I perhaps overlooking

Prediction interval of Y using BMA
Hello everybody, In order to predict income for different time points, I fitted a linear model with polynomial effects using BMA (bicreg(...)). It works fine, the results are consistent with what we are looking for. Now, we would like to predict income for a future time point t_next and of course draw the prediction interval around the estimated value for this point t_next. I've found the
