Share root directory appears in subdirectories. (Well, can't actually see it but can cd into it, even if its not there.) (Serious bug?)
Additionally to the problems I reported earlier, I'Ve discovered another problem with my server/client setup. find reports find: WARNING: Hard link count is wrong for ./foo: this may be a bug in your filesystem driver. Automatically turning on find's -noleaf option. Earlier results may have failed to include directories that should have been searched. in one directory and if I

language in posts
I am not sure what is going on, but I have been missing potentially important information from the samba digest mailing because someone has chosen to use words such as as**hole and p**is in their posts. He have a filter at work that block these messages containing a variety of words. I cannot think of how these could have legitimate uses in samba admin. I look forward to receiving the samba

samba 207 on solaris - idiot newbie questions
Hello all. I've decided to try using samba on our Solaris systems to give users who are stuck with PCs on their desks access to our gis data. I obtained a compiled binary package of version 2.0.7 from one of the samba.org sites, and have installed SAMBAroot, SAMBAusr, SAMBAman, and SAMBAdoc. All apparently worked just fine. I've made a couple of changes to the smb.conf file, changing

perhaps one should ask why a compiler has not compiled itself to binary and requires a 3rd party compiler to exist. Someone please send me lli that works on a pxa270 (which has never been tested?) and make sure it runs in PocketPC(win) so I dont have to wait another 20 hours to compile a damned compiler. Mac OS X + Samba + NT = Snag
After much nashing of teeth, I have compiled and installed Samba on Mac OS X! The following lines (or something like them) should probably be added to the config.guess file in the samba/source directory: Power*:Darwin:*:*) echo powerpc-apple-darwin${UNAME_RELEASE} exit 0 ;; I added them right after the "mac68k:OpenBSD:*:*)" section. I was not able to get the inetd installation

Does anyone have any thoughts on what may be causing my problem ? I have made my comments to the DIAGNOSIS.txt file via '---- davidw {comment}' so you can see what I've done to date. Samba PDC and Windows XP clients - login timeout after 15 minutes
Hi! We are using a Samba PDC with 40 Windows XP clients and have some strange problems. When a user starts his Windows computer and don't login within the next 15 minutes (because he drinks a cup of coffee) and tried to login after that time he get the message, that the server-profile could not be loaded and a temporary profile is used instead. There are absolutely no problems when a

Stuck with Test 3 of Diagnosis... Please Help..
Hello everybody, I need your advice with the following: I've just installed RedHat Linux 6.1, and configured Samba 2.0.5a. This is not my first time installing samba; I've installed it several times before, always on Linux, so I decided to configure it out of the box, so my scenario is: + On the Linux side, I can mount a NT share using smbmount, and copy files. No problems. + On the NT

Executing ssh commands on many computers
We have two SP computers with 8 nodes each and ocasionaly we have to execute comands on all of them. We do that with ssh private and public keys without passphrase. I a loop we do ssh node* comand The problem is: After a few nodes ssh client waits for a long time and after that every new connection is slower. It looks to me like ssh client has used all the entropy for generating session keys

Problems with 1.9.18p8
Having tried all the hints in DIAGNOSIS.txt, and having no success, and being unable to decrypt the error codes (does anyone have a list of these?) I send this to you all in the hope you can figure it out. FYI: I'm running 1.9.18p8, upgraded from 1.9.16p9. I got the exact same errors on both versions. I'm running debug level 5 to try and find some clue to the problem. I did have samba
