Optimizing Linux with Samba
Hello, We are reading a lot in the press about which is better, NT or Linux, and I am not going to start a thread about that! However, one of the issues that does seem to be repeated, is that both operating systems and software need to be 'tuned' to get the best possible results. Furthermore, you need to be an expert, with considerable experience to know what to do. I am running a Linux

Automatic Installation of Printer Drivers from Printer Share
Using Samba 2.0.6 Hi All, I have this working fine for Windows 95. I can double click on a printer share and when prompted install the printer driver from the hidden share \\%h\printer$. It says all over the notes that this will only work under Windows 95, and will not work for Windows NT. However looking in the archives of this group, I can see that some people report Windows NT working if they

Latest stable version 2.0.3 with Arc/info
Hello, First I must say, I am not an expert with arc/info, but one of our users uses it regularly and wants to work with files directly on our samba server, which runs under linux 2.0.36. It seems there are two modules that she regularly uses arc and arc edit. When she does complex, heavy operations such as a 'clean' using arc, it just sticks there permanently after sorting, however doing

Error copying >1 message to virtual mailbox
I created a virtual mailbox which maps to a single physical mailbox (in Dovecot 1.x I did this with a symlink but had intermittent problems with Dovecot 2.0 doing the same.) However, I can only copy one message at a time into the mailbox. If I try to copy more, I get: 7.16 UID COPY 48531:48532 !/Saved 7.16 NO [CANNOT] Can't save messages to this virtual mailbox whereas this works fine:

Questions about time synchronisation in a multi-DC Samba environment
Hi All, I am currently running a setup with a main DC ad1, that has ntpd installed and is currently configured to retrieve the time from the UK NTP time pool. I also have a second backup AD DC, ad2, on which I have not installed ntpd but I have installed ntpdate. My current understanding is that the setup I have just described is in-line with the recommended best practices outlined in the

samba as a time server (newby question): time not updated
Colleagues, I am trying to use my PDC as a time server. time server = yes upon login a group based scripts are executed. Scripts include line: net time \\samba.server /set /yes Time changes only if a user who logs was added Power Users Group on the local machine. My users belong to either staff, pgrads, ugrads, vis UNIX groups. What do I need to do to ensure that time is synchronised on

Why the command 'service ntpd stop' cause the time reversed?
Hi guys, I don't use virtual machine. The 192.168.0.191 is an internal ntpd server configured by administrator, so i can not see what ntp server it synchronizes to or what is its time reference. But i have added a new line "server 192.168.0.191" into file "/etc/ntp.conf" on ntpd client machines, and the output to execute command ntpstat is as follows: synchronised to NTP

SAMBA 2.0.5a oplock_break: client failure in break
We are running Samba 2.0.5a on an AIX 4.2.1 box, and since we upgraded from 1.9.18, a Windows 95 client reports intermittent problems (timeouts) when saving small files. The log.smb file has entries from those events: [1999/09/08 14:59:07, 0] smbd/oplock.c:oplock_break(905) oplock_break resend [1999/09/08 14:59:17, 0] smbd/oplock.c:oplock_break(905) oplock_break resend [1999/09/08 14:59:27,

Time synchronization issue
Hi ! Actually, problem was located on client side, not samba side. w32time has "disappeared" from services list (!) the w32tm /unregister and w32tm /register solve the problem My clients seem to be correctly synchronised with my AD DC now. If i find out why w32time has disappeared, I'll post a message here. Thank you for your help ! 2015-04-22 16:02 GMT+02:00 Andrey Repin

Automating the setting/clearing of a flag
Is there any way I can set up a list of dates and times at which a flag on my Asterisk PBX is to be changed, thus making it change somewhat automatically? I used to have a flag that I set whenever it was office hours and I was working from home, to keep non-essential calls away from my phones. I have changed over to a flag I can set on the Sunday evening when my week on call starts and clear the

Re: tdm400p static - out of ideas (Jorge Mendoza)
Ryan, from the console what does "zap show channel 1" or 2/3/4 in your case say. I have X100P's and I seem to be having similar sounding problems. I noticed that the above command shows the channel to be off-hook at all times when a phone line is plugged in. I don't know why or if it is a bug in the application reporting the status. dbc.
