Ambitious newbie with some ongoing Q's
I'm new to the list and I've been playing about with R for some months now, mostly using the power analysis routines including the "pwr" package. I'm currently looking at a project which will require a repeated-measures MANCOVA. I've been reviewing the files available at CRAN, including http://cran.r-project.org/doc/contrib/Lemon-kickstart/kr_repms.html and

3 Q's about queues and agents
I'm a newbie, but learning as fast as I can, I have 3 questions so please be patient. 1. I'm not sure as to the correct behavior of using a Agent/@1 in the queues.conf to specify that a group of agents (in this case group 1) should be members of the queue. Currently my queues will only ring the members of the agent group in the order defined in the agents.conf assuming that more than one

Q's about bug fixes
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I want to update the Mandr* TWiki PDC howto My questions are bout two old bugx. 1. There used to be a security hole in that one shouldn't put a user's profile directory in his homes share as the user could get global access this way. Is it OK to do this now? It would make backups so much easier. 2. Do LDAP users and machines still have to

Q's on how compiz works
Hi all, I've recently become interesting in how all of the pieces of X/compiz come together to do what it does, and after going through compiz's code, I have a few questions that I just can't seem to find any answers to. My basic understanding is that compiz sets up compositing, and then using either the root window or the composite overlay window it sets up an area for opengl to

Some simple Q's about Vorbis...
Hello all! I am wondering if anyone can help me locate some information concerning streaming Vorbis files. I am needing to locate the information for a multimedia networking class I am taking so I can learn all this audio and networking mumbo-jumbo. For the class, I need to locate 3 streaming media types and answer the following questions: Does it use Meta

More Q's about theora...
I have a few more questions about theora... if someone could answer or point me to a source of the information... Firstly in the header there is width and height parameters. Are these fixed for the entire file ? Is it possible for say halfway through the dimensions of the video to be changed ie two different size videos are spliced together ? If it is... does the header represent the first

Date sort-order ignoring timezone, and a few Q's.
Timo, thanks for writing and releasing Dovecot. I've recently discovered it and have been very impressed at the speed and balance between flexibility and simplicity. I had to make a packet-trace to be sure that encryption with OpenSSL was working correctly, since it all 'just worked' first time without complex configuration, which I don't think I've ever seen before ;-) LDAP

Q's about switching from sendmail to postfix
Running CentOS 4.2 with all updates. I've been using sendmail for my MTA since forever. I've grown used to it and I can make it do what I want it to. However (there's always a catch, isn't there)... Lately it seems that some mail is being lost. I've noticed some instances when a message was sent to myself and others which I will only see if someone replies back to

Sipura-3000 Assistant for Asterisk on MacOSX? Well, maybe, with your help!
Hi We are getting more and more email from Mac users asking how they can connect their MacOSX based Asterisk server to a PSTN phone line. This has led to two ideas ... 1) Mid term: set up a donation fund to sponsor the development of Zaptel drivers for MacOSX Note: if everyone who downloaded the Asterisk installation package for MacOSX during the last two months since its release would donate

Not your basic "Where to put non-rails stuff" question
Hello, I''m not that clear on where some things go - and would rather put them in the right place out the gate than go back and fix them. I''m working my way through several Ruby/Rails books I got from O''Reilly - with a particular project in mind - and that project presents some not-so-typical requirements. I want to have a rails-based web-app to gather data, and

Fitting usual distributions.
Hello, I am currently writing a program whose goal is to fit usual distributions (estimating parameters and confidence intervals for a given distribution). After some research in R, R-help and google I have found most of what I was looking for (especially thanks to MASS - fitdistr() ), however there are still a few distributions I could not find R code for: Multinormal, Truncated normal,

Audio files problem - as usual
Hello List! I have a problem that has been posted to the list more than once, but so far I have not been able to find a solution searching the archives and Google. The problem is with Asterisk audio files not being played to the x-lite client. I have an out-of-the-box Asterisk@Home configuration with no additional hardware. I have created extensions, clients over the LAN are able to talk

Kernel 2.6.32-573.22.1.el6.x86_64, higher than usual load
I did a batch update on a number of Xen vservers, with kernel 2.6.32-573.26.1 being installed. In addition to load averages being high and these #s not being reflected by the individual CPU numbers within top, I now have a spattering of occasional daemon crashes that the vservers have historically never had. Such as, here is the start of a nameserver blowing up in my logs: May 12 04:03:41 XXX

Problem with RBloomberg (not the usual one)
Hello, everyone! I have a problem with RBloomberg and this is not the usual "no administrator rights" problem. I have R 2.7.2, RBloomberg 0.1-10, RDCOMclient 0.92-0 RDCOMClient, chron, zoo, stats: these packages load OK. Then, trying to connect, I get following error message: conn <- blpConnect(show.days="week", na.action="previous.days",
