Samba, ACL and read only flag
Hello,
I have a problem with ACL, when a non owner tries to access a file, to which
he otherwise has full access over (DEC Unix) ACLs. He can read it, but it is
write protected (checked with smbclient). We are using samba-1.9.18p7.
I browsed the archives and saw that someone had reported this in August (with
Solaris ACLs) and mentioned a fast fix. So my question is whether this has
been fixed,

NT 4.0SP4 and profile roaming
Hi,
I am using 1.9.18p7 with NT 4.0SP4 Workstation clients. No NT server is
involved (in my immediate neighbourhoud, there is one on my subnet though)
I wish to
1) move profiles from the NTs to the Unix home directory
2) Enable netlogons
3) Use smbpasswd from the NTs
1) fails, as it moans about too slow links to the server. Although asked to
download anyway it recreates a new account. Otherwise

beta5 builds under RHEL
Hi,
beta4 built under RHEL4, RHEL5 and RHEL6 (the latter being the public
beta). beta5 now builds only for RHEL5, the other two fail with:
strnum.c: In function `str_to_llong':
strnum.c:139: error: `LLONG_MIN' undeclared (first use in this function)
strnum.c:139: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
strnum.c:139: error: for each function it appears in.)
Thanks!

pigeonhole: naming and versioning
Hi Stephan,
many thanks for all the work you do on the new sieve parts to dovecot.
As a (downstream) packager I have some questions:
a) pigeonhole is called a working title - will the final release
be called something else like dovecot-sieve again?
b) The versioning seems to go from 0.1.15 to 0.1.13. From a packager's
POV it would be better to allow a natural version upgrade
path.

rc15 in FC6
Hi,
just a note that FC6 now has the very latest of dovecot as an official
update. :)
It will upgrade the atrpms packages automatically to the official
vendor version, there is nothing you need to take care of.

2.2.12 RPM Needed
Greetings,
I'm not very experienced in building Source RPMs and we're in need of a
Dovecot RPM for version 2.2.12 for CentOS 5. It seems that the ATRPMs
repo maintained by Axel Thimm hasn't seen much activity lately and the
task of updating a source RPM is more than I have time for as a busy
developer who does systems admin on the side.
Could anybody recommend another repo

NT profiles on samba server
Hi, there,
I put roaming profiles for NT4 users on samba server.
In "Domain User Manager", I set "User profile Path" \\abel\profile\%U.pds,
here abel is samba server.
It works well, but everyday several users complain. Sometime, they cannot login because of
roaming profiles. Sometimes, some users cannot run VC or VB.
Sometime, I only need to remove ntuser.dat on samba

[PATCH] febootstrap-supermin-helper: Replace objcopy call for embedding init binary
objcopy needs "output-target" and "binary-architecture" parameters
which makes it necessary to keep a list of known architectures.
The bin2s.pl script generates input for the GNU assembler which should
produce an object file that is equivalent to that produced by objcopy.
I have successfully tested the change on an amd64 Debian/unstable system.

Differences: ADS vs Samba-3 controlled domain
Hi,
what are the essential differences between a Samba 3 controlled domain
(thus an NT4-legacy domain) vs an ADS Microsoft controlled domain?
AFAICT single-sign on, common password backends etc. can be modelled
with LDAP & KRB. Without ADS I cannot use some Microsoft GUIs to
add/edit/remove users/printers/file shares. Also deploying group
policies seems to be harder.
What are the true

Participation on Samba lists
Luke Leighton (lkcl) has brought up his arguments about control
of Samba before. In October 2000 they resulted in the creation
of a new Samba code branch, samba-tng, which Luke and others who
agreed with his direction were free to do with as they will.
Samba-tng still exists, and we in the Samba Team still wish it
well, but what we can't continue to put up with is Luke still

Transferring user profiles to new domain
It's been a while, but as I remember "Teach Yourself Samba in 24 Hours" by
Gerald Carter and Richard Sharpe has an entire chapter which walks you
through this process.

[Bridge] Bridging and bonding
Hi,
I'm trying to setup a bridge with a bonded device (2 links,
balance-rr). The problem is that after attaching the bonded device to
the bridge the network throughput drops down from 110MB to 100KB. This
seems to be due to the MAC address of internal devices of the bridge
being seen on the external ports, where the bonded device exists (see
also the URLs below).
