Hi. I followed the advises from yours but I still can't do

CONTRIB: crash_samba
I just wrote this little script that makes concurrent
connections to a samba or NT server.
It connects to a service and does a dir.
This may be useful if you want to check the resources
of your server.
Configure it changing the vars at the begining.
In my tests I compared two computers, NT vs samba-2.0.3
NT was much faster. 50 concurrent connections, 10 commands issued.

Failed to parse ACL smbcacls
I'm trying to set up a Samba server with ACLS.
Versions:
- xfs in kernel-2.4.20.
- samba-2.2.7a compiled with ACL support
I'm trying first with smbcacls. But I can't manage to
guess the syntax of the ACL command.
I want the user "frankie" could RWX a file owned by "javi"
#smbcacls //localhost/public te1st.txt -A ACL:frankie:0/0/RWX -U javi

file modification time
Hi, I commented last week about a misbehaviour I found from
samba. When I update a file the modification time is set
wrong. When the file is created it does right.
It doesn't happen if I set the timezone to GMT.
Before I had tried with GMT+1 , WET , MET.
The server and the client are syncronized.

Hello openssh-unix-dev,
Some time ago I successfully compiled version 3.1 of OpenSSH.
Today I tried new OpenSSH version and I am not able to compile it.
Configuration script runned well. When running make, following error
occured:

make[1]: Nothing to be done for `all'.

Difficulties with egcs-1.0.3 on RedHat 5.2?
Some machines in our department use RedHat 5.2 Linux but, to maintain
consistency with other machines, the compilers as from egcs-1.0.3, as
shown below. When I compile R-0.63.3 on these systems I can't pass
the tests in "make check". The base-Ex.R file stops execution with

diskless windows
Hi. I wanted to set diskless win95 but I read the list archives
and I decided not to do it diskless.
So I tried diskless windows but I got a problem.
I do this.
1.- I did booting images with bootware proms.
2.- I managed to install DOS clients from microsoft. That was painfull
because the one I downloaded from MS didn't connected to
my samba server. I used a dos clients that creates a NT

Re: samba Digest, Vol 7, Issue 34
Make sure the XP box's firewall is disabled for the network connection
you're using to connect to the samba server (advanced properties of the
network connection).

Linux 2.2.0 and Samba client not happening for me
Dudes and/or Dudettes:
HEEELLLPPP! (such a newbie statement)
I can't get my remote SMB mounts to work on my Linux box.
duke was happily running Slackware Linux 2.0.36 and Samba 1.9.18p8 .
I upgraded to Linux 2.2.0pre9 (2.2.0final), which seemed to require
upgrading to Samba 2.0.0 . (I don't remember the exact errors)
Now i can't get my NT and '95 disks to stay mounted on

Many processes per user
I have a samba server that starts creating a lot
of processes for each connected user, until it
renders the system unusable. Then restarting samba
solves it all.
The last time it crashed I saw 10-12 processes
per user. The number of processes keeps growing until
we restarted samba.
Right now it's working but I see there are 25
of smbd from root. That wasn't happening before.

Issues on hibernated domains
Hello.
I am using libvirt and KVM for a VDI project. It works fine,
great job ! I have only a small issue that bothers some
users from time to time.
This is libvirt-bin 2.5.0-3ubuntu5.5.
When restoring a saved domain that has been many hours or
days down, the network address may be taken by some other
virtual machine. Then both are in conflict.
I found this patch:

XP slow with samba-2.2.7 from RH 7.3
I'm having problems with one Windows XP working with a
samba server.
This is redhat-7.3 with latest samba-2.2.7-3.7.3. There are some
windows 98 PCs running fine. There is two Windows XP clients, and
one of them isn't working well with samba. The user complains the
access to the files is quite slow.

No response to our critical packet problem
Hi,
I have a strange problem. At a site where there are 20+ phones, there
is one phone that cannot make outbound (to PSTN) calls.
Each call is dropped after 20s with "no response to our critical packet".
Calls to voicemail and internal extensions work fine.
I understand that everything points to a NAT problem, but I don't
understand how it could be because:
1) It does not affect

solaris 2.6 printing
I have ran across a problem
that I cant resolve and no one else seems to either. I recently built
solaris 2.6 on
an ULTRA 1 Sun Box. I retrieved compiled and installed samba 2.0 from
their web site
I compiled with gcc and everything works well except for the printing.
Samba does deliver a file in my /var/spool/smbprint dir but nothing happens
from there no matter what lp or other commands I
