Win2k oplocks and you
Hello list! I've seen the threads in this months archives on oplock issues, so I hope I am not hitting a sore spot by bringing it up again. The reason I am beating on this is that I've got a testable, repeatable issue with Win2K terminal server (SP2) running CorelDRAW 10 (patched to current) against a Debian Woody box running Samba 2.2.3a-6 for Debian. Since I can repeatedly test the

Help! Problem with Samba 2.0.5a + WinNT4.0 SP5 (process 7281 no longer exists)
Hi All! Help! can anyone tell me what this message means? I'm running samba-2.0.5a. It sort of works, I can mount a samba drive from WinNT and run programs stored on the samba drive, but when I try and open an oracle form file on the samba drive, form reports an error opening the file. [1999/08/21 09:23:11, 1] smbd/service.c:(521) master (10.140.30.15) connect to service oracle as user

Method from package dependency is not updated due to lazy load?
Hi, not sure this is a bug or just an unavoidable undesirable side-effect -- or just me that does not do the right thing. Consider the code and output below. It creates 2 packages: * pkgA * pkgB that creates a method for a generic defined in pkgA Changes in a method for the generic in pkgA (after re-installing pkgA) are not reflected in pkgB, unless pkgB is re-installed against the new

get_share_modes problem
I have samba 2.0.5a running on Openserver 5.0.5 with the latest patches installed. I got this specific version from Skunkware (SCO's distribution of Open Source binary packages). AFAIK, they make no changes to the actual source. I have no problems with using samba for name service and printing, however with file sharing I am having some strange problems. I sporadically get problems like

Share modes problems
Hi all, I'm having a problem with share modes (at least I think it's share modes) on my samba server. The problems only seem to have manifested themselves since I updated to samba 2.0.0. This has coincided with an upgrade to our system, so it is conceivable that the problem may be with that, but I think it more likely that it is to do with samba (since errors are reported in the log

SFTP client script broken after OpenSSH 2.5.1p1 to 2.5.2p2-1
Hello friends, I have a script that uses the sftp client to transfer a file to another server using PK authentication. It was working until I upgraded from OpenSSH 2.5.1p1 to 2.5.2p2-1 yesterday (on a RH Linux 6.2 system). The sftp command is: sftp -o "IdentityFile ~/.ssh/id_dsa" \ $PUSERNAME@$PSERVER >$TEMPFILE 2>&1 <<-! cd $PDIR put $DOC_ARCHIVE ls quit !

PANIC and delayed drive mapping?
Hiya! Samba 2.0.7 on HP-UX 11.0. Problem with large files
Hi we have samba 3.0.14a on FreeBSD 5.4. We tried with different kind of locking and oplocks (both enabled and disabled). If we try to copy from a Windows XP client a file larger than 3g, we get these error: Cannot copy XXX. The specified network name is no longer available. We traced this problem in the logs (log level 10) and we got this error ------------ [2006/09/19 10:29:41, 5]

3.0beta5 disconnecting drives
Hi there! Seems that my 2.0beta5 is not going as smoothly as I'd hoped. We've found a strange behaviour which is only happening when people first log in in the morning. When we log in, a number of drives are mapped to various directories on the Unix box. Things seem to go OK until another person logs in and tries to access a file already open by another user. Then they both seem to

PATCH: Samba/Win2K renaming bug
Hi there. I'm running Samba 2.2.3a on RedHat 7.1 + kernel 2.4.17. My girlfriend's laptop is running Windows 2000 + service pack 2. She has about a thousand MP3s stored on a Samba share on my RedHat machine. We were finding that she couldn't rename any MP3s on the Samba share: she would always get a sharing violation. After a day of reading Samba logs at debug 10 (_such_ fun [ ;)

SOLARIS_2.6: request_oplock_break
I saw a little discussion about this a few weeks ago but nothing concrete. We're running samba-1.9.18p8 under Solaris 2.6x86. I am periodically getting the following in the logfiles, usually _many_ at a time: 1998/11/03 14:42:00 request_oplock_break: no response received to oplock break request to pid 5411 on port 40884 for dev = 1980040, inode = 33c4d When I look up the PID (in this case

[patch] New RC to differentiate partial xfers from files that get deleted before they're xfered
All, During development of a backup solution with rsync I experienced some failed backups because of RC 23, partial transfer. These were because the application using the data I was backing up, was still active, and had deleted a file inbetween rsync compiling the file list and then transfering the file. After some feedback from Wayne Davidson and JW Schultz suggesting the solution to this,

NT Crashes when doing large network file Xfers (was Re: NT crashes during smbtar)
Ernie, Thanks for the great info.. Based on what you were seeing, would you suspect that part of the problem is with the combination of NT and the 3com card (3c595)? Currently, we are ONLY seeing this under NT Workstation (not server) and almost all of our machines have this same 3com 3c595 card (only if using 100BaseT).. -- Rick -----Original Message----- From: Ernie Oporto
