Hi there! Seems that my 2.0beta5 is not going as smoothly as I'd hoped. We've found a strange behaviour which is only happening when people first log in in the morning. When we log in, a number of drives are mapped to various directories on the Unix box. Things seem to go OK until another person logs in and tries to access a file already open by another user. Then they both seem to loose their network connections to the Unix box. This manifests itself as a "File read error" in Microsoft Access. Also, Pegasus mail GPFs - which is how it normally reacts when the network goes down. There doesn't seem to be anything untoward in the logs except the following lines appear quite often: [1999/01/08 08:50:26, 0] locking/locking_shm.c:shm_get_share_modes(212) get_share_modes: process 12008 no longer exists [1999/01/08 08:50:26, 0] locking/locking_shm.c:shm_get_share_modes(240) get_share_modes: file with dev 880039 inode 1797328 empty and there was also a line which said: [1999/01/08 09:11:06, 1] smbd/files.c:file_init(219) file_init: Information only: requested 10000 open files, 1014 are available. [1999/01/08 09:11:06, 1] locking/shmem_sysv.c:sysv_shm_open(629) WARNING: clearing IPC lock 3 set by dead process 12138 which seemed to occur while a 'smbd' process was starting up. It seems to be only occurring with Win 95 clients, too. I am on a NT workstation and I have not experienced this yet. This may be just a matter of circumstance, though. The relevant smb.conf sections are: [global] server string = Craymer's Samba server debug level = 2 security = user guest account = guest guest ok = no read only = no create mask = 0775 workgroup = MCCARTHY wins support = yes domain master = yes local master = yes preferred master = yes os level = 65 [pc] comment = PC directory path = /pc writable = yes veto oplock files = /*.ps/*.sem/ [wpdata] comment = WP Data directory path = /wpdata writable = yes oplocks = false Any help greatly appreciated.
