NT & Win98 slow copies
Howdy all: For those who are curious (eg, Peter de Groot <pdgtech@wantree.com.au>) here are the (I think) relevant posts from recent samba digests concerning win98 and or NT performance problems copying files between local drives and samba shares. It looks like there should be some new options to play with in the next samba release. Could Jeremy or Andrew confirm? (BTW, nice

samba crashes NT-workstation??
Hi quite strange assumtion, but I have the feeling, that samba makes my NT-CLient crash (blue screen). I haven't found anything in the archives about such troubles. It dosn't matter whether sp3 is installed on the NT machine, nor does a specific samba version makes this behavior vanish, it's just that my samba server wasn't available for a 3 months period in which the NT

Platform-specific: simple assignments in Rprofile cause core dump (PR#1604)
This only happens on platforms with a faulty implementation of realloc(). Some C libraries do not allow realloc() to be called with a NULL pointer to resize. The assignment ISOLatin1 <- 0:255 in Rprofile then causes a core dump. The attached set of 4 patches should be very safe to use and fix the problem. --please do not edit the information below-- Version: platform = i386-pc-sco3.2v4.2

(PR#1605)When dev.list() is NULL, dev.control() causes core dump
This is of course an incorrect usage, which I've trapped at R level, so as to give an informative warning. X11 forwarding under Linux
Hello, I have been having issues with x11 forwarding using my linux-mandrake based servers. I checked my XAUTHORITY variable and it was set to ~/.Xauthority ... After reading the mail archives, I found the /tmp/ssh* directory created during my ssh session, and did this: export XAUTHORITY="/tmp/ssh-hzuA1805/cookies" xeyes ...and the X11 forwarding worked! I'm using the

AW: VorbisExt prerelease
Hi Warren, is this shell extension able to modify multiple ogg files, either each one after another, or within one transaction (e.g. adding a comment to all files; stripping all comments from all files)? Or would I have to use the context menue for each separately? So long Friedrich > -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- > Von: Warren Spits [mailto:spits@cyberdude.com] > Gesendet:

win95 client problems (registry limitation?)
Howdy: I'm new to this samba stuff, but I've run across a problem that doesn't seem to be documented anywhere. It seems that OSR/2 clients (with all the M$ system updates; I already added the EnableClearTextPassword key) that have had their TCP/IP settings tweaked in the registry (eg, MaxMTU=576, TTL=32, RWIN added, etc) for DUN connections have mucho problems with a samba

Help with parsing a data file
Hi All, I need to parse data from a file, example shown below. The first two lines can be skipped, the third line contains the column names. The next 13 lines can be skipped. The next line "1991" is a year value, with the following 13 values data for that year. The file then repeats this format with (year, 13 lines of data for that year). I would ideally like to end up with an

R-alpha: New Incomplete Beta Function
Here is a drop-in replacement for the R incomplete beta function. src/math/pbeta.c It is a slightly modified version of the cephes library one from Netlib. In the few cases I tried it seems to give at least 14 digit agreement with the one in S-PLUS (its hard to get more). I'm not sure what performance is like. I'd like to know if it helps with some of the problems which have been

Announce: VCE v0.1.2
Hello All, VCE does unicode/utf-8. I recommend all users to upgrade as it now handles extended characters correctly. There are now two binary versions of VCE. There is an NT version (for Windows NT/2000) and a 95 version (for Windows 95/98/ME). They will eventually be merged into one executable again. Download the appropriate file for your platform. Win Integration: possible solution?
Hi. Back again... I'm still looking for a possible integration of MIT K5 and AFS through the windows login, so I will ask you a question. A first considerations is that afs+k5 works fine but we have to create a local account with a fake password. The profile will be on the local disk. We can gain tickets and the token necessary to access \\AFS. The problem is: how to avoid a local account?

Vorbis Comment Editor v0.1.0
Hello All, I have created a Vorbis Comment Editor for the win32 environment. It is completely untested and undoubtedly has bugs. That said, it is fairly stable and functional. It is a simple single dialog based app. I have released it under the GPL and have made code available. It is compiled statically with the latest CVS version of libogg & libvorbis and it uses the vcedit.c routines
