AW: Question on NFS mounted Shares
Hi James, we use some NFS mounted shares on our Linux-SCO-network. Samba runs on the linux box. The linux server mounts some NFS shares from the SCO server. The access error should not be a samba failure. Make sure that the directory above the mountpoint is accessable for user nobody (chmod o+x , if you upgrade to samba > 1.9.18p7 make sure that there is read permission on the directories too:

Problem accessing NT
Is there a way that an NT administrator can block a connection if they determine it is from a Samba box as opposed to Windows95/98? Encountering problems trying to view NT shares from a Redhat 6.1, Samba 2.06 system. I can view shares from another Redhat 6.0 linux box. Samba Printing Question
Hello Samba Gurus: I have a unusual printing problem on a Samba server (version samba-1.9.18p7) on a Solaris 2.6 server. Basically I had 2 Solaris 2.5.1 machines that were retired when this new machine was deployed. Each individual machine had Samba shares and printers on it individually. Those file systems and printers were then duplicated on the new server. The version of Samba was the same

I also have the smbpasswd file and cerated samba users. Samba is configured in such a way that even if NT is down samba takes over as the PDC and authenticates users. If NT is up, the server manager in NT shows the linux box as

NT network can't browse Samba
Hi, I'm trying to setup a Linux box with Samba (1.9.18p10) and it isn't having any luck making a home for itself on the network. If I go to a Windows95 machine, I see all (well most) machines on the net there, but not the Linux box. I can also not see any other machines from the Linux box. Here is log.nmbd output that repeats every 5 seconds or so: find_workgroup_on_subnet: workgroup

Hi, We're trying to use a samba server as a repository for all our PC source media, and I've discovered that if an exe exists in a directory with more than 8 characters then the client (NT) will complain that it cannot find the exe. Changing the name of the directory to 8 chars or less fixes the problem. I've played around with name mangling options
