Inforworld Article on Samba
Hi all, Inforworld (that's a rather large computer magazine is the USA) are thinking of doing an article on people using Samba to replace/supplement NT servers in commercial organizations within the USA. I told their editor I'd send out this request for people who fit the following criteria to send in their details : They need people who are : (a). USA Based. (b). Using Samba but

Microsoft Certified Professional Magazine publishes Samba art icle.
I got mcp mag a day or two ago, Great writeup!! I was a little surprised that they ran such a glowing review of samba, with some of the negative implications on NT. It is very nice to see Microsoft show an interest in interoperability. -Steve Roylance > -----Original Message----- > From: Jeremy Allison [SMTP:jallison@cthulhu.engr.sgi.com] > Sent: Thursday, April 15, 1999 6:41 PM >

Username map issue with 1.9.18p8
Hi All, Sorry to be posting this :-(, but if you're using the 'username map' parameter with Samba 1.9.18p8, here's a small patch you may need. Without it the username map will work once per smbd and then refuse to map subsequent names. This isn't a big problem as normally, on a single user NT or 95 system, username map will only be called once per session (in the

String overflow with random characters
Hi, I've got a problem with a 2.2.2 samba server. It has, a number of times, recorded the following lines for a short period of time of 10 seconds, and then not again for days. Has anyone seen these before? It all appears to be random characters. It has only happened from 2 machines out of 30 or so. Issues after upgrade to 3.0.6 from 3.0.4; fixed in 3.0.7?
Hello, I run samba 3.0.4 on a RHL9 server. Samba is a domain member of a W2k3 ADS and I use CUPS as printing mechanism; therefore Samba is compiled with Kerberos 1.3.1-7 and cups-devel. 3.0.4 runs pretty good, printing via CUPS runs well too, only the following messages I see constantly (this flooding my logs) while using 3.0.4: winbindd.log ========= [2004/07/27 16:07:04, 1]

1.9.18p6 release.
Hi all, Over the weekend (isn't it always :-), someone on the BugTraq list posted an analysis (not exploit code) of a potential buffer overrun in Samba, that has been present in all versions (including 1.9.18p5). As Andrew Tridgell was working over the weekend he quickly produced a fix for this (it was a problem with code using sprintf) and released it as 1.9.18p6 on Sunday, May 11th.

downloaded win98 print drivers fail in Samba 3.0
Windows 98 client cannot print via samba to PrintPro printer "exported" via Cups/PrintPro on PrintPro/Samba server. "Exporting" with Cups on server node allows print drivers to be downloaded to Windows clients from the server. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
