windows clients can't see workgroup at all
I'm trying to troubleshoot a new samba setup on a tiny network, and I'm clearly missing something. I'm running Samba 3.0.22 on Ubuntu Linux. When I first set it up, it seemed to go so smoothly. I changed all the workstations to the same workgroup (RABNETWORK) and they could see each other and the server, but they couldn't open anything on the server. I don't really understand

Win2K unable to see shares
I have been unable to get my Samba shares on RedHat 7.3, Samba 2.2.3a to be visible from my Windows 2000 SP1 server. From the DIAGNOSIS.txt tests (results below) I think that nmbd is not working properly, but it stops and starts fine, and a ps -A shows 1 X smbd and 2X(?)nmbd processes running, I have tried the suggestions there without luck and am not sure where to go next. I'd appreciate

Dear all, I loose hope to be able to obtain the NETBIOS name of a Win95 box using the following command : nmblookup -A ipaddress Some of my user are using laptops and are connecting the network by a remote lan access. The IP address is attributed by the RLA supplier. I included in the login process (telnet) of our Administrative AIX server a NETBIOS name check of the calling machine. If the

Samba 1.9.18p7-2 PDC & netlogon? or p8? or wait?
I have a linux system running Samba 1.9.18p7-2 smoothly right now, with perhaps 600 users. I have an NT box with 2 users, for a dedicated application, which is a PDC right now. I have ~300 Win95 client machines that I want to have do a domain login, authenticating off the samba box (running RedHat 5.1, btw) so that I don't have to replicate users onto the NT box when all they really need to

Strange problem connecting via NT
I am running Version 1.9.18p7 and I have a win95 machine and an NT machine connecting via ethernet. I have, for security reasons, reorganized my network to reduce outside threats. The network is set up using RFC1918 addressing, and I am using Linux 2.0.33 to transparent proxy outside requests to the net via a dialup PPP session with a dedicated IP address. The global section of my smb.conf

Trying to install SAMBA
GREETINGS to SAMBA TEAM! I've been trying to put up samba (version 1.9.18) to act as a lan manager in a small network of linux and win95 boxes. The network seems ok and has been operational for sometime now. PING, TELNET, FTP, NFS, MASQUERADING, REMOTE X-WINDOWS are all working fine. I need to put up samba to allow sharing of files and resources between the linux boxes and the win95 boxes.

File Corruption in NT workstation but not Win95
Hi again folks... Just when I thought I had everything working great with samba mounts on an AIX 4.3 machine (after a lot of testing with a Win95 box), I went to do something quickly on a NT 4.0 workstation. I had some intallation programs in the shared directory that I had used to install programs on the Win95. No problem. I ran over to my boss' NT 4.0 workstation, opened the shared

R-beta: R-0.61.3 for Win95/NT available
I have just put on ftp://sirio.stat.unipd.it/pub/R a new version of R for Win95/NT. The main difference concerns dynamic linking (see below). In addition, the binary distribution contains many of the available packages (all the ones that I have installed on my Unix machine). In the afternoon, I will upload the files on CRAN. g.m. This is the README file: rw0613b.zip is a new binary

Needs help on SAMBA.

A lot of the linux things are working fine. The ip masquerading, NFS, X-Windows, the Apache Server, etc. I am now trying to install SAMBA so that the WIN95 boxes and LINUX boxes can share files and printers. I've been doing some
