After almost every reboot, Samba printing is DOA under Solaris 2.6...
I just thought that I would put this out there and see if anyone else sees this problem with Samba 1.9.18p4 (under Solaris 2.6). It appears that after some reboots of Solaris, Samba printing is partly dead. What I see in the logs are below, and what happens is that the file to be printed is spooled to /var/spool/samba, like always, but when the lpr command is issued it croaks. I've been

NT Crashes when doing large network file Xfers (was Re: NT crashes during smbtar)
Ernie, Thanks for the great info.. Based on what you were seeing, would you suspect that part of the problem is with the combination of NT and the 3com card (3c595)? Currently, we are ONLY seeing this under NT Workstation (not server) and almost all of our machines have this same 3com 3c595 card (only if using 100BaseT).. -- Rick -----Original Message----- From: Ernie Oporto

NT Crashes when doing large network file Xfers (was Re: NT crashes during smbtar)
Ok.. Just for the record, I STAND CORRECTED! The problem does appear to be NT.. The thing that irritated me was that nobody was interested in giving any backup data! Everyone just wanted to blindly admit that it must be NT. Ok.. Enuf bitching.. On to the better stuff... Anyway, David Mansfield and I are trying to narrow down the machine configurations where this happens.. Currently, we've

SMB Signature verification failed on incoming packet!
I am running Samba 3.0.9/KRB5 1.4 on Centos 3.4 on x86 with security = ADS in a Win2k3 domain. I have successfully used kinit to authenticate, joined the domain, and wbinfo -g/-u/-t return the expected results. However, when I try and access the samba shares from a Win2k3 box, it fails telling me I don't have permissions to access the share. Needless to say I am thoroughly perplexed. I have

mge-shut driver fails almost after every reboot
Hello Arno, FreeNAS doesn't come with a compiler and I had to compile with the patch on FreebBSD-9.3 and then copy the produced mge-shut. Unfortunately it didn't work out. For every try I was getting "Connection Refused" and when I tried /usr/local/libexec/nut/mge-shut -D -a <ups_name> I was always getting 'No matching HID UPS found'. I returned back to the

mge-shut driver fails almost after every reboot
Hello Arno, Thanks for the quick reply. FreeNAS is FreeBSD-based. Yes, I could test a patch. As I have mentioned, this behavior is not seen at every single reboot but after most reboots. Also, some times, the connectivity can be lost without even rebooting. That is not very often can have happened a few times. Best regards, Panagiotis On 2/4/2015 5:44 ??, Arnaud Quette wrote: > Hello

Hello Arno, > Question: have you also tested oldmge-shut? > Otherwise, that might be interesting to do so and send back the > results of these tests... Yes, I've tried this as well with worse results unfortunately. This driver seems to be even more unstable. When it gets able to set communication with the UPS (which is not always the case), it usually lost it again after a while.

ADA: DOA?
Hey, all. While ADA can still be downloaded, that's about all that I see. No development, no recent mention, and -- perhaps worst of all -- it appears not to work properly under 64-bit systems. So, assuming Digium's abandoned it, are there any suggestions of alternatives? Right now, I'm replacing a Shoretel system, and I'd *dearly* love to avoid the incredibly fat client they

SmbClient Kills NT 4 in conjunction w/ Amanda (Revisited)
Ok.. I've tried tweaking several settings on Samba (1.9.18p4) in order to try to keep it from killing several machines that get backed up weekly via Amanda (using smbclient). What always appears to happen is that for one reason or another, Samba is booking along copying files and then all of a sudden NT stops communication and smbclient ends up hanging forever (regardless of the keepalive

SAMBA Server Not Seen in Network Brotherhood
AIX 5.1 / SAMBA 2.2.5 SAMBA server is a host server only (no PDC / WINS etc) in a 2000 AD domain. All shares can be accessed / authenticated correctly when mapped or called. But when a client browses MicroSoft Network Neighborhood the server does not show up. It does show up in Active Directory. We've still got users that cannot get away from Network Brotherhood usage.
