Translating lm.object to SQL, C, etc function
This is my first post to this list so I suppose a quick intro is in
order. I've been using SPLUS 2000 and R1.6.2 for just a couple of days,
and love S already. I'm reading MASS and also John Fox's book - both have
been very useful. My background in stat software was mainly SPSS (which
I've never much liked - thanks heavens I've found S!), and Perl is my

OT: Linksys router misbehaviour
I'm running a Linksys WRT54GL router from my CentOS-7 home server.
Every now and then (maybe once every 2 days) the router's WiFi cuts out,
and I've found no way to solve this except to disconnect the power
from the router, wait 10 seconds and then re-connect.
This always works.
The router is running under dd-wrt.
My question is - which makes it a tiny bit CentOS-related -
does anyone

IAX with shaw cable not going through
I just changed the from DSL to Shaw Cable (static IP) configure the
firewall but now asterisk I can not register with FWD nor VoipJet calls

I am using IAX with FWD
Did I missed to change a setting? I don't think there is any though.
I am on shaw extreme connection; I just talked shaw tech. and they are
not blocking any port - I was told.
So why IAX will not register with FWD and

Off-Topic: Travel Router and Firewall
Go to the openwrt site and see what replaced the TP-Link TL_WRN702N.
The new one has 2 ether ports and can be USB powered.
Of course, there are those who will say you should use a raspberry pi
for that...

Off-Topic: Travel Router and Firewall
This is off-topic and the only connection with CentOS is that the laptop will be running CentOS...
I am looking for a travel router/firewall for a number of reasons:
- Protect against outside attacks when outside the office/home not relying on whatever protection the laptop/tablet/phone offers.
- Allow for fast transfer for data between devices without being limited by the bandwidth of the

[OT] Nokia E60 firmware update break SIP
Just a warning for you all that are using Nokia series E phones for SIP
function.
I updated my phones firmware today using the Nokia Updater, and now
the SIP functionality, which previously worked pretty well is
completely broken.
The phone no longer registers with asterisk, although it displays the
little icon as though it has, and it doesn't even seem to try to pass

strange limitation on rcmd()
The manual page says, that rcmd() is only to be used by root's processes.
On other OSes (Solaris, AIX), trying to call rcmd() without being root simply
fails.
FreeBSD, however, tries to be helpful and invokes rcmdsh in this case, which
is inefficient and leaves the stderr's filedescriptor (fd2p) unfilled.
Why?
My understanding is, this is to make it harder for would-be attackers to
