html rendering and gecko on a winmx install wine 1.1.11
opensuse 11.2 64 bit
I have downloaded and compiled/installed wine 1.1.11, so that I may use a windows program called WinMX 3.54b4 [32 bit] on my linux opensuse distro. I had been advised that Wine versions higher than this do not work well with WinMX. At the end of the compile it tells me that libgphoto2-32bit was not found and that cameras won't work. I check in Yast2 to see if it can

HTML rendering is currently disabled
I am using Ubuntu 8.04 and Wine 1.10. Before installing Wine I had installed Firefox 3.0 final release for Linux as instructed on the Ubuntu site. It said not to uninstalled the version of Firefox that came with Ubuntu because it may break Gecko and other things, so I didn't uninstall it.
I've now installed Wine 1.10 and have installed one application, however, it gave me a prompt to

Avoid the Gecko dialogue
Can I use a wine command line argument (or anything other) to skip the `installing Gecko' dialogue?
I find it only annoying as I install Gecko via winetricks when needed and I usually have a wine prefix for each windows program I use.

How to instruct Wine to use MSIE rendering engine by default instead of Gecko?
Hi,
I need to debug some complex Javascript that leaks in MSIE (no leaks
in Firefox though). For this purpose, I am trying to utilize programs
like Drip and sIEve. Both programs fail under Wine, and my guess is,
they try to use Gecko as the rendering engine (and this is not what's
desired: Gecko works fine with my stuff).
Now, provided that MSIE can be installed under Wine, and works, can

Problems with HTML Rendering. Ubuntu 8.04, Wine 1.0-rc1
I have installed Sacred under Wine.
"This application is trying to show an HTML Page. Wine needs Gecko (Mozilla HML engine) to be installed to show the page. Click install if you want Wine to automatically download and install Gecko."
When I click on install... Nothing happens. I have tried to use the Ubuntu Forums to figure out what the answer is, but those haven't been

MS Internet explorer instead of Gecko
Hello,
I have a windows application called Anita (terminal emulation sofware from www.april.se) that runs just fine on Linux with WINE.
The problem is that Anita needs to open an HTML page and display a PDF file.
It works on Windows - terminal emulation software displays the PDF file without any problems but it doesn't work on linux. It displays a blank page.
My guess is because on Windows

Installing gecko in wine with proxy
Hi,
I am currently trying to make an app work under wine, and it needs
gecko. The automatic installer pop-up, but can't download anything. I
think it's because I'm behind a proxy, but I don't know how to configure it.

HTML rendering is currently disabled (Wanna' play GUNZ!)
Okay, I'm a super super-dee-duper newbster. Aaaaand I'm on a MacBook. Aaaaand I'm running Leopard (10.5.8). So I've used Wine before a loooong time ago for some things, but nothing big. And now I want to play Gunz (from ijji.com). I got everything downloaded (the reactor) and then it tells me something about "Gecko" needing to be installed. I get everything all installed

HTML rendering disabled, Wine not in GNOME Menu
I just installed Wine 1.1.0. I have tried previous versions in the past and got them to work. However, this time, when I try to launch iexplore, it doesn't install Gecko. The progress bar instantly fills up and I'm left with "HTML rendering is currently disabled". So I can't get Steam to work.
Also, I can't get my Wine in the GNOME menu. It doesn't even show up as a

Wine Gecko 0.9.0
The announcement of Wine 1.1.12 mentions a new version of Wine Gecko, version 0.9.0. I have two questions:
1. What version of Gecko is this based on? Will this improve the way installed apps render pages?
2. How will this affect existing programs that have Wine Gecko 0.1.0 in their Wine environment? I have the old cab file in /usr/share/wine/gecko which gets installed whenever I wineboot. Will

Wine should use Mono and Gecko installed in the system
Wine FAQ says Wine is not an emulator, but in fact, it works like an emulator - it
does not enhance Linux API, but simply creates a virtual Windows environment completely isolated from other parts of the system.
* If one runs a .NET based program, Wine requires Win32 Mono to be installed
under Wine, instead of Mono already installed in the system.
* If a program tries to do html rendering, Wine

Problem installing Gecko
Hello,
I have just installed wine. In addition, I would like to install Gecko. So, following your instructions, I run the wine iexplore... command. Problem is that the Gecko installer keeps getting stuck at some point (My internet connection works fine at this time). Is there another way to install Gecko (maybe download it from somewhere)?
My box runs RHEL5 Linux BTW.
Cheers,
D.

Font rendering in Firefox after effects
Hi all
I''ve started using some of the scriptaculous effects here, and have
noticed something weird. Whenever I use one of the effects, it causes
many of the fonts on the same page to rendered with a lighter weight
(ie: "less bold").
Has anyone else noticed a similar effect in Firefox? I use 1.5b1 on
Mac. This seems to be a common bug in moz-based browsers, as Camino
does

Reinstalling gecko after failed install
Hi, after I updated to wine 1.5 and launched winecfg, it tried to download and install new version of gecko. I use wine built as wine-wow so it tried to install both 32 and 64 versions. But it failed in one of them, control.exe crashed. I then tried to install gecko from msi packages using msiexec, but the problem is msiexec is not aware of wow configuration. It installs both versions to the same
