Font issue in Half-Life 2 via Wine 1.3.0
Greetz guys,
I have recently installed Wine 1.3.0, with winetricks (31/7/2010), and installed all the fonts available (via winetricks allfonts).
Everything downloaded and "installed" fine.
Now, I was playing Half-Life 2 on Wine 1.2 and it was working perfectly. I've installed Wine 1.3.0 and continued my game. But now, the fonts are messed (there are random letters missing from

This issue is documented here

Text all garbled up (Wine on OS-X)
I have this problem that renders all selectable or typed text completely unreadable.
I've had it with multiple programs, but the biggest problem is that it renders Dev-C++ completely unusable.
The text kind of looks like they're music notes or something...

Help with faq verbage
Can somebody tell me what this means?
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\X11 Driver]
"ClientSideWithRender"="N"
Place above in text file and it can be inserted into registry by
"regedit settings.txt".
It is the answer to "bad text in config screen" in the faq section.
Does this mean that there is a file someplace called software\wine\x11

SOLVED: Garbled menu on ISOLINUX
For posterity's sake, this problem was solved by removing the "serial" command and restoring "console" to the default of 1, thus completely relying on the BIOS console redirection instead of having ISOLINUX write to and read from the serial port.
Thanks to Peter for his help a while back.

g711 -> iLBC garbled voice in 1.4?
All,
Has anybody else experienced garbled voice between a phone using
alaw/ulaw and one using iLBC? I have a Nokia E series phone with a
preference to use iLBC and this works fine in Asterisk 1.2. However,
since moving to 1.4 - I get garbled voice on Inbound (g711->iLBC).
Outbound voice seems fine (iLBC->g711) though. It's not a 20/30ms
framing issue as the phone uses 30ms

Voicemail prompts garbled
I'm having problems with the voicemail prompts. The beginning of each
prompt is garbled. Prompts "edian mail" and "assword" can be
recognized, but when it starts on the short phrases it is completely
garbled. It is almost like the subsequent phrase starts before the
current phrase finishes.
I have isolated the LAN to the * box and the phones, so LAN congestion

New install, console ends up garbled once dom0 is finished booting
Hi all!
I can't for the life of me get xen to run - under both stable and
testing the packages give a garbled local console right after dom0 is
finished booting, just when one would expect a login prompt.
The garbled screen looks a bit like screens full of kernel booting
messages scrolling/paging by at breakneck speed. Lines are tearing and
overlapping ... difficult to describe. Anyway, it

Speex encoding/decoding producing garbled audio
Whoops, left this message in my outbox. I managed to fix the problem.
Apparently I was only copying 160 bytes (Frame Size) back into the
audio stream when I should have been copying 320 (chars <-> shorts confused
me there). Hence why I could hear myself yet it was distorted. Half the wav
was missing =)
To answer some of the other questions here, for any insight into what I'm
doing:

Garbled menu on ISOLINUX
We have a system that is designed with no VGA port, graphics card, or keyboard, only a serial console. We're trying to boot a Linux via ISOLINUX. The problem is that when ISOLINUX comes up, the screen is usually garbled. Not always; sometimes it's intact, sometimes it's completely blank. When it is garbled, it is NOT the garbled text of a wrong baud rate. Rather, it looks like

CentOS 5.4 64bit default Xen install won''t start, garbled boot screen

Ok this is really strange. I''ve been messing around with Xen for the
past few weeks on a 32bit test machine and CentOS 5.4 and it''s been
working fine.
Today I went into the office on a Sunday to install Xen on our server
but I had a major problem.
The server is a home-build with a Tyan s5211 motherboard with an Intel

Snom-320 badly garbled audio
Hello,
I just bought a Snom-320 from ATAComm. I plugged it into my LAN,
registered it with *, etc. All my other SIP gear is Sipura and works
fine, both on the LAN and over the Internet.
The new Snom seems like it can't process the audio from the handset
mic. A steady tone is garbled, even on the LAN. I've contacted
ATAComm, Snom and the company representing Snom in the US. So

Garbled voice on long distance calls
I've been having random problems when I make long distance calls using
either VoicePulse or Nufone. Sometimes the calls go through clear, and
other calls (or even just part of a call) the person on the other end
just hears garbled voice, or really broken up voice. Sometimes it lasts
for only a few seconds, but other times it goes on for a few minutes
until I give up on the call.

Garbled messages - format_wav_gsm.c:414 wav_read: Short read (60) (No such file or directory)!
I am having a problem with asterisk voice mail messages that seems to be
intermittent. Though the problem occurs most of the time, on rare occasions
it will work fine - rare enough that I can't pin down what it is that works.
The problem is that voice mail message get played back garbled.
Occasionally, I can make out moments of a voice or another sound that may
be in the actual message,

Question concerning creating .exe shorcuts.
Hey guys,
I was curious about something. When Wine installs a program, that creates a shortcut after installation, it is usually placed on the desktop (as it would in Windows).
So how I can create the same type of shortcut which will use the .exe's inbuilt icon; as Wine does? I know how to create a shortcut but i'd manually need to search for a .png file to use as that shortcuts icon.
