Can't start UT3
I really need help, I tried installing several times already and I'm getting the same problem no matter what I do. I install the game and everything seems to go well during install. After installation I try to start the game and it gets stuck to the splash screen. I looked in Google and found that this problem is not related to Linux or Wine, some other people have been experiencing the same

legalities of streaming
Hmmm, so in summary, anyone wanting to put together a station for a couple of hundred listeners with out a massive bank account, it can not be done legally. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris G (Moguta)" <chrisg1@umbc.edu> To: "icecast" <icecast@xiph.org> Sent: Thursday, June 12, 2003 11:33 AM Subject: RE: [icecast] legalities of streaming <p>>

legalities of streaming
Basically, to legally broadcast music you must: A) Obtain permissions from the copyright holder (usually the publisher, record label) of the *composition*. ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC offer compulsory licenses for all of the artists they represent, fees based upon roughly how many listeners your station has & how many songs in your broadcast are by artists/composers they represent. B) Obtain

Unreal & Mousecapture
Hi, recently I compiled and installed the wine-20010629 Release. On my Machine (PII-400@450-128MB with ATI Rage Pro) Unreal produces fantastic framerates with XFree86-4.0.1. Halflife is running too, but only in Softwaremode (he says he would not comply with my GL-driver, even if compilation with the flag "--enable-opengl" has been successful). But my problem is another. I am not able

Unreal Tournament 2003
I've just gotten around to reading the IRC chat with the developers of Unreal Tournament 2003. Looks like Vorbis support is a possibility: [21:53] <Mancubus> Has the idea of a built in mp3 player been introduced? :) [21:53] <Orpheus> Mancubus, wont happen [21:53] <Orpheus> Fraunhofer owns the rights to Mp3. Controlling Buffer Lengths
Hello all. This email comes with a huge explanation. You can skip to the final line for the short version of it. I am wondering how I can control buffer lengths with Icecast. I can't see any information in the documentation related to buffers. I also cannot seem to find a mailing list search function and Google is not helping. The problem is this. We are trying to run an Unreal

Unreal again
Not to take away from wine, but loki (www.loki.com) has released a patch that will install and update UT into a Linux game, where Wine, or any other package, would not be needed. I have it running and it works great! -----Original Message----- From: Richard Knight [mailto:rick_knight@rlknight.com] Sent: Tuesday, July 24, 2001 7:27 PM To: wine-users@winehq.com Subject: Re: Unreal again Where

I read your message about using the Loki Linux Unreal Tournament engine to play Unreal. I have the original Unreal Windows version CD and would like to play it on Linux but can't get the Loki version to recognize the CD. Can you tell me which files to download from Loki and how to install them? Thanks, Rick Knight (rick@rlknight.com)

server response does not appear to correspond to request
Here is a second, somewhat related question to my last one. When looking over the network trace I have ran into something I cannot explain. It may be quite proper, in which case I am misreading the trace. But I would appreciate it if someone would explain this to me. In packet 109 of the trace (during a login with no profile on the server), I see a "NT Create AndX request"

Unreal again
This time I could get Unreal (not UT) working in wine again. And sound finally works!, thanks to everyone who did the directsound api :) It might have been able to run Unreal for a while but i just discovered that it only starts up if the partition is mounted read-only. Strangely enough, it works flawlessly after that. Anyone knows what might be the reason? So, for now, I do a sleep 15 and

Another Fedora decision
Warren Young wyml at etr-usa.com Tue Feb 3 00:32:15 UTC 2015 > Are you telling me you cannot memorize a series of 8 characters that do > not violate those rules? Keep in mind the original context isn't for production computers, it's testing Fedora. Many testers do dozens of installs per week, some do dozens per day. The password requirement is pretty annoying, I for one

Unreal Tournament 2003 help - one last bug to overcome!
Hi all, this is my first post here! :) I've managed to get the PC version of Unreal Tournament 2003 working in wine on Mac OS X Snow Leopard. It took about 4 hours of fiddling to eventually get it installed properly from the discs, patched, and running at the correct resolution in widescreen. (1280 x 800) The game runs beautifully and looks really nice on my Macbook pro, however, I have

Audio in OpenSolaris 2009.06 x86
Hi All, First time caller - tried WINE today for the very first time, on OpenSolaris no less. Good news - was shocked and stunned how easy it was to get an old copy of Unreal up and running - everything (almost...) "just worked" with practically no configuration, got lovely smooth rendering using my crappy built-in Intel X3100 adaptor. However, I cannot get any audio output

Sound Problems with Wine and ALSA
I've been trying to fix this for a couple of weeks now without any luck. I'm hoping someone here can offer some help. I Replaced my mainboard and CPU about a month ago. The new board has on-board sound as did my old mainboard, but the new board uses an Intel8x0 sound chip, the old board had a Yamaha YMFPCI chipset. Because of the difference in sound systems I needed to rebuild the

Unreal Tournament
I installed unreal tournament '99 on WINE and whenever I try to open it, it says "Starting Unreal Tournament" in a new tab at the bottom and then it disappears and nothing happens. Any suggestions? I'm using a x64-Opteron 1.8Ghz Dual-Core, x64 Ubuntu, 2gb of RAM, Nvidia 6150 with Restricted Drivers. P.S. - Please give me a somewhat step-by-step because I'm all-knowledgeable
