Portal Menu Text missing!
Hi guys,
I've installed Portal, but the menu text is missing. I'm not quite sure why and how to fix it.
I'm using an ATi Radeon 5870, with the Catalyst 10.6 drivers installed and Wine v1.2 rc5.
Any help is appreciated. :)

Font issue in Half-Life 2 via Wine 1.3.0
Greetz guys,
I have recently installed Wine 1.3.0, with winetricks (31/7/2010), and installed all the fonts available (via winetricks allfonts).
Everything downloaded and "installed" fine.
Now, I was playing Half-Life 2 on Wine 1.2 and it was working perfectly. I've installed Wine 1.3.0 and continued my game. But now, the fonts are messed (there are random letters missing from

Question concerning creating .exe shorcuts.
Hey guys,
I was curious about something. When Wine installs a program, that creates a shortcut after installation, it is usually placed on the desktop (as it would in Windows).
So how I can create the same type of shortcut which will use the .exe's inbuilt icon; as Wine does? I know how to create a shortcut but i'd manually need to search for a .png file to use as that shortcuts icon.

Torchlight: Multiplayer MOD not found ...
Hi,
I installed the Torlight Multiplayer MOD, but Torchlight can't found it. I guess Wine doesn't find the included DLL in the Torchlight folder. With Windows 7 it works well.
The MOD only adds the following files to the Torchlight (Steam) root folder ('/home/gameuser/.local/share/wineprefixes/steam/drive_c/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/torchlight')
TLAPI: all files of

World of Warcraft - ATi 8.41.7
Hi, I was playing around on my laptop last night and installed the
8.41.7drivers from ATi, my laptop has an X1400 in it, not the HD2400
that the
drivers were designed for so I understand some things may not function
correctly and will cover the observations:
1. Pixels shaders+Vertex shaders - I have to disable these or I get missing
elements from the screen, once tunred off it all renders ok

WINE Runtime Error - isskin.dll issue?!?
Hi guys,
For some reason, certain window's .exe installers give the following error:
Code:
Runtime Error (at - 1:0):
Cannot Import dll:C:\users\xxx\Temp\is-00IEG.tmp\isskin.dll
This error has occurred while attempting to install certain applications/games...any idea what this is referring to?
The help appreciated, as usual. ;)

Wine 1.3 and weird error: Unhandled page fault on read
Hey guys,
There's a weird issue occurring that doesn't make sense to me. Whenever I run any 3D application, I get the following error:
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access
It's followed by a few strings, and the debugger kicks in. This seems to only affect 3D application.
Thanks, in advance, for the input. :)

ATI (rv350) + open-source driver + wine gaming issues
Hello everyone. I seem to have a bit of a problem running some 3D accelerated games under wine, while using the open-source ATI Radeon driver. My graphics card is Radeon 9700, and the open-source drivers overall work much better than the proprietary fglrx.
The fglrx driver allows me (in most cases) to run games like Temple of Elemental Evil (particularily) or Morrowind normally, but I can't

Gaming support with different hardware vendors (esp. ATI)
Hi all!
I recently got an ATI Radeon HD 3850 card and now noticed that with the
fglrx driver many games that look well in AppDB do not run properly on
this hardware (Supreme Commander ingame: flickering static garbage, Prince
of Persia SoT has several issues that completely garble ingame graphics).
Older games (not using shaders among other things) seem to run fine - need
to do more testing

Dragon Age : Origins issues...
Hi guys.
I've installed Dragon Age : Origins, and patched it to 1.02. I visited the AppDB for it ( http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=18283 ) and followed all the steps (minus the sound fixes; as there's no sound issues).
However, the intro videos do not show, and when it reaches the main menu, the mouse cursor is stuck in the center of the screen and cannot

Seems that D3D10/11 is now natively supported in Linux..
Hey guys,
Even though this isn't a troubleshooting related matter with WINE, I figured those here, who're interested in the progress of D3D10/11 gaming in Linux, would be interested in this very, very good news!

C++ and Steam question
Today I installed Wine Version: 1.1.36-0ubuntu1 (wine1.2) and steam. I got the flash working on steam and got the IE6 to support it. I also installed winetricks. When I try to play a game called Torchlight i get the following message: Runtime Error! R6034 an application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
Under wine add/remove programs it says i have C++2005, C++2008

smbladp_conf shell opts
I'm setting up a smaba/ldap server and I'd really like "regular" samba
users to not have local login privs. (LDAP will handle all unix and
samba accounts.)
So, to that end, I thought changing the options in smbldap.conf,
specifically...
userLoginShell="/bin/bash"
to something like
userLoginShell="/sbin/nologin"
Is there some unanticipated impact that would
