How to delete Apps from the AppDB?
Hi,
I maintain several apps in the appdb.
I lately discovered 2 unmaintained apps that are exactly the same that I maintain but which remain in a different category.
I adopted them and tried to merge them with the ones that are in the correct section.
But how do I delete the "old" apps? I couldn't find an option for that.
Thanks in advance.

help a newbie; X (font?) error with "gold" app?
I'm trying to run this app: http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=5797
The AppDB page mentioned 5 dlls that had to be native or native, builtin. Set these overrides in winecfg. Am I supposed to do something else like copy files from my windows partition?
A ran "winetricks vcrun2003" and "winetricks riched20". At this point I could bring the app up, but some

New apps in Wine AppDB - how long?
Hi,
I entered a couple of new apps in the Wine Application Database
last evening. I didn't get any conformation emails and I don't see any
indication of them getting in yet.
How does the process work? How long might it take for a new app to
show up there?
Thisis most likely not the exactly correct place ot ask but I
figure someone here probably knows. I was thinking about

Newbie Question
Installed the current Wine release under Ubuntu 7.10 32 Bit. I cannot see how to actually install a Windows application correctly. Sorry, I just can't find out how to do it - I want to run the .exe installation file for a program called ConvertXtoDVD.
I also (through mucking about and not asking first) totally messed up the Wine application, removed it 'completely' via the Package

Newbie - Is BackgrounDRb compatible on windows ?
I searched online but couldn''t find it. Even BackgrounDRb does not
specify platform compatibility. Earlier version of BackgrounDRb ( <
0.2 ) were incompatible with windows. The current version of
BackgrounDRb is 1.3. If anybody had any luck running this library on
windows machine ?

Wine can't see DVD drives, and wont open some apps
I've installed Wine 1.3.28 on Ubuntu 11.04. I've been having some odd problems that I can't seem to get around. My optical disk drives aren't visible when I try to use applications like DVD Shrink, I can't seem to detect them. When I try to install some apps like Amazon Kindle and WoW, they will install, but just not open. When I run Startcraft II, it'll play, but it

What Windows apps stand in the way of switching to Linux at your shop?
http://kegel.com/wine/qa/#app is a list of "must-have"
Windows applications for various vertical markets
(at the moment, just k12 schools and churches).
These are the Windows apps that really keep a school,
church, or other organization from switching to Linux.
I'm hoping that this list will help focus Wine QA on
those key Windows apps, and thereby increase the
number of groups who

Newbie Question
Hello,
I'm trying to set up to stream myself as opposed to a remote server. I
should have bandwidth as I'm on BT Infinity, upstream is around 3mbps.
I'm streaming using Sam, and both the encoder in SAM and Icecast server
appear to be running. Checked the log file and all seems well.
When I set my IP adress to localhost I can tune in on my host machine,
however when I try to use

Newbie: Problem running FileMaker 8.5
Dear All
I'm new to Linux, and even newer to Wine. So, please excuse...
I've got a Dell D800 with both Linux and Windows installed. Linux is
Debian Etch, Windows is XP. The reason for installing Wine was that I'd
like to use FileMaker Pro 8.5 from within Linux. I've installed Wine to
the Linux world by:
sudo apt-get install wine
This worked without problems.
In the shell, I

RFD: create new list and forum 'wine-newbies'
It has been suggested that the wine-users list
is now too busy, and needs to be split into two:
one for experienced users, and one for beginners.
However, this might leave the beginners adrift
without any experienced people to help them.
So I don't think we should do it unless at least
a handful of experienced users are willing to join the
new group and lend a hand. I'm willing, but I

Does wine support my app ?
Hi,
I have some questions.
How can I find out that my windows program is fully functional compatible with wine ?
...or how can I find out that all win32 API things are supported by wine ?
Are programs available which can test this ?
First I thought that I can do this with strace.......but this was wrong.
thanks

Help for a complete newbie? (Bulletstorm mouse issues)
I've got a copy of Bulletstorm and I've been trying to get it run properly but I've had several issues. Trying to use wineskin, I've made a wrapper with the 1.3 engine and it runs the game just fine. The problem is that when I get into the first person mode (so not on the interface/menu/whatever) that the mouse spasmodically spins around and erratically changes direction whenever I

reported to work previously, in the test result

I'm running Debian lenny which has wine-0.9.44.

Screen goes black when I start apps
Everything was working fine, then after an update, it no longer works. I am using Fedora 7. I am unsure of the Wine version. Any of the Wine apps cause the screen to blank when I start them. I can press alt+f4 to close and get my Fedora desktop back. How do I get my Wine apps to work again?

nls() newbie convergence problem
I'm sure this must be a nls() newbie question, but I'm stumped.
I'm trying to do the example from Draper
and Yang (1997). They give this snippet of S-Plus code:
Specify the weight function:
weight < - function(y,x1,x2,b0,b1,b2)
{
pred <- b0+b1*x1 + b2*x2
parms <- abs(b1*b2)^(1/3)
(y-pred)/parms
}
Fit the model

Graphical rsync!
Hello,
Something very much resembling a graphical win32-based front-end for rsync
is available at http://sync2nas.sourceforge.net It is released under the
BSD license for all to enjoy.
A few caveats:
* It reportedly only works on WinNT/Win2K. Win9x is being looked into at
this time.
* It is written in Perl/Tk, although all portability conceits were
