Freetype kills Icewind Dale 2 on Fedora 9
The latest Fedora 9 RPM install of Wine (0.9.58-1) will give the following complaint without freetype installed: Code: Wine cannot find the FreeType font library. To enable Wine to use TrueType fonts please install a version of FreeType greater than or equal to 2.0.5. http://www.freetype.org However Icewind Dale 2 still runs fine. But if I install freetype then it won't run at all and

Wine redraw problem with baldur's gate ii (and others)
Hello. When i upgraded wine from 0.9.46 to 0.9.53 i noticed a annoying thing. When i run Baldur's Gate II - Shadows of Amn (and Icewind Dale II) on normal fullscreen mode they work fine. If i enable the "emulate a virtual desktop" option so that it runs on a window, it works fine until another window gets on top of the wine window. For example, i run xterm and run wine. If i click

heatmap aspect ratio
Hi all, Does anyone know of a fairly easy way to "stretch" a heatmap vertically? I've got 42 arrays and would like to be able to see as many significant genes as possible (right now I can only get 50 genes with it still being readable). In some comparisons there are several hundred significant genes. I've fiddled with the "asp" argument, but that doesn't

Status on OSX Intels?
I'm just wondering if someone could give a quick overview of OSX Wine for Mac's with Intel chips? Does it work? And is there a list of apps that are compatible? I really want to try and install IWD2 on my MacBook- it is currently rated at 'Platinum' but does that also apply to OSX? Thanks for anyone who can take the time to answer these questions, Regards, James

Fatal Error while Installing Baldur's Gate II
Howdy Folks, I'm trying to install Baldur's Gate II on a windowsless Wine configuration and not having much luck. When I run Setup.exe from /cdrom, I get the Baldur's Gate II splash screen, the progress bar indicating that InstallShield is preparing to install Baldur's Gate II - Shadow of Amn and a message box stating 'Error installing iKernel.exe: (0x1400)'. When I

Icewind Dale 2 Mouse Cursor
Hi, First I want to say I am really impressed with Wine. Its about as good as Cedega and sometimes better in my experience. Anyways my problem concerns Icewind Dale 2, after starting the game up my mouse cursor is not the gloved hand in game version but a mix of that and the KDE desktop cursor. It looks like a black square with both cursors overlapping. Naturally this makes it difficult to play

Wine and Baldur's Gate
Well, Now that I've made it through the actual install, I figured I'ld take Baldur's Gate for a spin. The main screeen, where you select to play the game, change the configuration, etc, comes up fine. There's a slight pause after clicking 'Play' while BGMain.exe starts and X is set yo 640x480 (I'm guessing this has something to do with DETACH_PROCESS?), but

Sounds problems (via ac97) / Mouse pointer problems
Hello, I am using Wine 0.9 under Linux Slackware 10.2 (official binary package) with kernel 2.6.14. I have a GeForce 2 Ti (using NVidia's 3d accelerated driver) and a VIA AC97 as a sound card (using kernel alsa drivers). I have tried several games : none would start until I switch sound acceleration from "Full" to "Emulation" (as suggested by wine's text output).

Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn - failure to run
To come clean at the very beginning of all this, I'm a very new Linux user - my Windows XP computer decided to destroy itself and so Ubuntu was my only choice in lieu of buying another copy of an already shoddy operating system. Because the Baldur's Gate 2 CDs do not have copy-protection, I simply copied their contents into a single folder in c: within wine's invisible directory.

plots: aspect ratio
After playing around I got everything to work. One problem was with the large pointsizes. I switched to small pointsizes and shrank the plot region. This shrank the gaps and tick lengths down to reasonable values. As for aspect ratio, I think the pty="s" did finally kick in somehow. In the old days this was not required; the dev.print width=, height= took care of that. Cheers, Bill

Small utility to modify Theora file aspect ratio / frame rate / cropping
Hello, I encoded a bunch of theora video files from my DVDs. I thought for a long time that mplayer was broken because it displayed the aspect ratio wrong. Then I found out that the aspect ratio I was specifying was supposed to be the pixel aspect ratio, not the video aspect ratio. (This is extremely confusing and I urge you to change the semantics of encoder_example. I also urge you to check for

Poor encoding quality with etheora and aspect ratio problem
Hello, I wrote a theora video encoder based on etheora (and the examples provided with it) for Processing IDE (processing.org). I have some problem with the quality of encoded frames. eg. http://poux.be/tmp/movie.ogg And when I play the movie with mplayer or totem, the video resolution is changed from 640x480 to 854x480 (when i use ETHEORA_ASPECT_NORMAL in etheora_enc_setup). And if I try to

Getting default aspect ratio from lattice
How can I get the value of the aspect ratio that is used in a lattice plot? In a levelplot for instance, the native units per cm of my x and y axes are different, and I need to know the aspect ratio so that I can correctly plot vectors. I know how to set the aspect in a high-level lattice function but I can't quite figure out how to get it. I would like call to levelplot() without printing

Sweave figure aspect ratio
Hello, using Sweave, is there any option to preserve the original aspect ratio of plots generated from R code? Consider this Sweave chunk: <<test,echo=F,fig=T,width=2,height=2>>= x <- 1:10 y <- sin(x) par(mar=c(4,4,0,4)) plot(x,y, xlab="x label", ylab="y label" ) @ In Latex, I want to produce a plot of width 2 but don't care about the

Graphic aspect ratio
Hi I've been playing with a 3x2 graphics device using the default size as it appears on screen. This has given me tall thin plots which I can resize by dragging the window and increasing the window width. However I was wondering if I can force R to produce square plots or set the actual aspect ratio. asp seems to affect data units, not on-screen pixel units. thanks mike -- View this

set.seed(1) x <- rnorm(n = 1000, mean = 0, sd = 1) plot(x = x, asp = 2000) Could someone please explain what the 'asp' parameter is doing?

Plot's aspect ratio and pty
Dear All, I've been playing with pty, and it seems it does not produce square plots as it is expected to (or at least as I expect it to). Consider this simple example: par(pty="s"); plot(1:10, 1:10) This should produce a square plot, right? Well, if you have a look at the graph, it is not square! So, maybe the limits? par(pty="s"); plot(1:10, 1:10, xlim = c(0,11),

contourplot, xyplot, aspect ratio, mfrow
Hi, I am gradually moving from the classical R plot functions to the library Lattice I have some questions about contourplot () and its arguments: 1/ I am working on geographical coordinates which makes necessary that the X (longitude) and Y (latitude) units be represented with the same distance on screen. This was obtained in the classical R plots with plot.default(x,y, asp=1,...) and then

Baldur's Gate slow after upgrading Linux Kernel
I'm running wine 1.1.2 on Gentoo Linux. When playing at least Baldur's Gate I and Baldur's Gate II with Linux 2.6.21 kernel it does run smoothly but changing the kernel to any newer version does the game to run slowly. I have been checking the config of both kernels, and I have tried to get the same in them. I have a GF 6600 GT and nvidia 173.14.09, but I don't think it's the
