DxDiag not working - Wine 1.1.35 + Ubuntu 9.10
wine dxdiag.exe spews a few fixme messages (Related to ALSA drivers) and then exits. No Window, no error messages. Till now, this wasn't a problem (several games ran fine) but when I tried installing a legacy game (Grand Prix World by Microprose), it could not detect my graphics card. Tried DxDiag but it isnt working.
Any help will be much appreciated, thanks.

Direct3d with ATI Radeon Problem
Hi,
I'm having trouble running 3d apps including the Direct3d test in Dxdiag under wine. I think that the problem is that dxdiag displays my Graphics card as this:
X11 Windowing System
This is obviously wrong because I am running this on a Radeon 2600 Pro.
When I try to run the Direct3d test It just crashes Wine. I am running the latest 8.04 Ubuntu with the Latest Fglrx Graphics drivers.

Error running Guild Wars with .9.3
Hello all,
I gave this a stab a few months ago but gave up and
just set up a dual boot. I'm running low on disk
space now and tired of messing with the muliple
partitions, so I'm giving it another go to get Guild
Wars running in Linux.
I'm runing Wine 0.9.3 on Kubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake).
I'm able to go through the instillation without issue,
but when it actually tries to

Hi. I'm running Ubuntu 8.10, My video card is Radeon x1600 with 512 of memory, and 3D graphics.
My computer is a Core 2 duo,
Wine version 1.0
This same setup ran the game before I ripped out Windows and switched to Ubuntu. I downloaded the Linux driver from the ATI/Radeon site, and installed it. But Wine doesn't seem to know about it. I tried running the windows driver in WINE but it did

NWN2 - "could not find any compatible Direct3D devices'
I've tried to get NWN2 (patched to v. 1131409) running with wine 1.1.3 on debian lenny (2.6.25 amd64). I followed the instructions at the appdb, but all i get is the error message "could not find any compatible Direct3D devices"...
the devenum.dll and dxdiag.dll weren't present at my wine 1.1.3 install, so i took them from an 1.1.1 installlation, but nothing changed...

Directdraw and Wine Compilation
Hi, I am trying to compile wine in an AMD64 Ubuntu machine, taking the
precautions needed shown in the winehq's wiki to do it. The
compilation finishes fine, but for some reason there is no support for
some things that used to have in the i386 pre-compiled package.
One of them is ALSA sound. I use ALSA because for some reason OSS
sometimes ruins the sound making it look like a loud scratch

Newbie - missing cursor and unresponsive to input
Hello everyone,
I have just discovered wine and have to try it,
but I am running into problems that I can't google my way out of.
I installed wine-1.1.12 using yum on my quad cpu (Nvidia 9500gt, usb qwerty keyboard and mouse) running fedora10 (2.6.27.12-170.2.5.fc10.x86_64) and as a test, I decided to use GTA2 (download).
After the install, I copied

Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge much slower with 0.9.16
RA2:YR is a 2D game - I think it probably uses DirectDraw. It runs
slower with 0.9.16 and now the in game cursor flickers. Besides minor
audio problems it ran fine in 0.9.15.
I tried setting HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D\DirectDrawRenderer to
"gdi". It made no difference. Is that the corrent way to turn off the
new DirectDraw changes?

Starcraft and Diablo II use a lot of CPU power
Hello,
I am running Wine 1.0 under Fedora 9 x86_64. The problem is that the two mentioned games use a lot of CPU power about 50 % on a 2 Ghz Core 2 Duo. At first I thought this is caused by GDI DirectDraw renderer, but changing to opengl did not help. Also, it is just the same when you configure Diablo to use Direct3D renderer. Does anybody has any idea where can I look for the source of this

Install x86_64 OS with HVM
Hi there.
I''m trying to install in Xen-HVM Fedora 9 x86_64. But right away it
starts, installer throw error:
This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU.
Unable to boot.
I''m on x86_64 Linux (Gentoo). x86-HVM works well, but not x86_64.
Is it possible to run x86_64 OS in HVM mode in Xen?
Maybe some config magic necessary?

Can't use regsvr32.exe in Darwine
I need to register dxdiag.dll to run Final Fantasy XI, but the program regsvr32.exe can't be used to do so because I cannot input any command line codes for Darwine... I'm a bit new at using this so I'd like to know if there's a way I could register this DLL or use regsvr32

White cube in dx 3d tests
Hi,
I just installed DirectX 9.0c on latest Wine according to howto I found here on wine sites. Well the problem is, that in dxdiag 3D tests it shows just very fast spinning (that should be, shouldn't it?) cube, but with no DirectX texture on it, just a white cube.
I have nVidia 8400MG. It's working 'cause in Windows I play normally with DX 9 installed. My distro is ArchLinux.
Thx

Testing basic direct x capability
Hi,
I am running wine 0.9.58 and having problems running Counter Strike:
Source, Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield.
I think this is caused by the direct x layer in wine.
My system runs opengl programs fine using the ATI driver (Radeon 3850).
Is there any way I can test directx functionality without having to
download a game?
Dxdiag.exe is not included in wine.
Best regards,
Chris

wined3d in windows 98 - illegal operation.
Hey all!
I have recently installed a windows 98 vm on VmWare workstation in my win7x64 host os. I have downloaded wined3d from: http://www.nongnu.org/wined3d/
it says that those are builds for win32 apps, but when the installer runs I see that some syswow64 (which is a 64 bit app folder) is getting created and some dlls into it installed. Does this mean my windows 98 has now 64 bit dlls and that

Diablo2 performances
Hello.
I'm trying to run Diablo 2 under wine.
The game installs fine (D2 + LoD + Patch 1.11b), but I experience some serious performances issues. Wine is set to Windows XP mode (otherwise, the game protection doesn't work).
The game is very sluggish when the minimap is open, when setting the key binding, or on battle.net menus.
The only choice I got from D2VidTst.exe is DirectDraw HAL.
