Team Fortress 2 Issues
Hello there, After downloading the latest version of wine, latest graphics drivers and install Steam through PlayOnLinux, I tried to launch Team Fortress 2. The initial Valve sound played and then the menu soud, but there was absolutely no video/display. Checking the processes list, hl2.exe was still running, so obviously something is going wrong here. My system should be fine, as I used to run

[Wine 1.4rc5] Team Fortress 2 crashes after assets load
Hello, I'm using Wine 1.4rc5 (because earlier versions seemed to lag rather badly when rendering pages in Steam) on kernel 3.0.0-12.20 using the (latest) 64-bit NVIDIA driver version 295.20 (installed from the file from NVIDIA) for the Quadro 160M (which runs has run TF2 just fine in the past). I understand that Team Fortress 2 and other Source games require 32-bit display driver libraries,

Team Fortress 2 gaminfo.txt
Hello, I'm trying to run Team Fortress 2 on Linux using Wine 1.0. I tried starting the game from Steam, but it shows the loading TF2 window, then closes and never starts the game. I know the game isn't supposed to run on Linux, but I have a question about gameinfo.txt. I tried starting hl2.exe in: /.wine/drive_c/Program Files/steam/steamapps\*user*\team fortress 2 folder, but it said I

Can't install Team Fortress 2 - no disc no. 2
I have problems with installing Team Fortress 2 on wine 0.9.59 (the version from repositories). When Steam wants me to insert disc 2, I type "wine eject" in a console, insert the second disc, click ok, but then the same message appears - "Please insert disc 2". When I click it a couple of times, the window breaks - there's only a part of titlebar. Does anyone know a

Forcing DirectX 8.1?
Hi. I'm running Debian Lenny, and I'm having a problem with Wine and playing TF2. I used to be able to play TF2 under DirectX 8.1 before updating to the newest version, no problems. I didn't even have to use the option -dxlevel 81, it was already set to it when I looked under video settings in TF2. However, with Wine 0.9.59, it seems that the DirectX that comes bundled with Wine is

Trouble with Team Fortress 2
Greetings fellow Wine users, ????????I saw a prior message in the archives from 'darckness cyrix12 at cox.net' mentioning a problem trying to run TF2. I'm running on the latest git, or wine-0.9.45-426-g71d70f0, and appear to be having a similar problem. I have a gzip of a log with WINEDEBUG=+tid,+seh,+loaddll,+d3d,+d3d_shader, +d3d9 [1], running Steam and attempting to launch TF2.

Team Fortress 2 losing priority/ how to fix?
Specs: Ubuntu 10.10 64bit Nvidia 260 GTX driver ver. 260.19.44 4 gig ram onboard sound wine ver. 1.3.16 So TF2 runs great, in dx9 mode its all good. THAT IS until something pops up on my desktop in the form of a notification or if I needed to alt+tab to something. I'm running it windowed at 1280x800 through the steam interface, the winecfg is not configured to run in a simulated desktop

Team Fortress and steam friends list
I haven't been able to find a way yet, but is it possible to somehow have steam run not in a virtual desktop or at least a seperate virtual desktop than team fortress 2? If I could alt tab or switch desktop spaces and be able to access steam from my taskbar so I can talk to my friends in the game (since in-game overlay doesn't work) Or join them using the steam friends options without

Team fortress 2 won't launch
Hi guys, Everything worked fine on 1.3.4 I think, then since a new wine version I guess (or new tf2 one ...) the game just doesn't launch at all ... I voted for http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25256 but I would like to know if there was something to do (ubuntu Lucid) please. Thanks Shad

Re: Problems with sound and video when running team fortress
Are you used the command line ( -dxlevel 80 ) option to launch the game? This solved my problem of corrupt graphics and texts in game.

Squeezing every last drop of performance out of DirectX
Hi Folks, I have been using Wine for some time now to run Team Fortress 2 (and other HL2 based games) on my Ubuntu system. I was previously running Ubuntu 7.10 with an Athlon64 3800+, a 7600GT (256MB of RAM), and 2GB of DDR2 333MHz. Recently I upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10 (i386) with an AthlonX2 64 6000+, an 8800GT (1GB of RAM) and 4GB of DDR 800MHz. I was really hoping for a nice performance bump

Team Fortress 2: Hardware must support Pixel Shader 1.1
Hello! I just installed TF2 and Steam through WINE. However, once I started it, it said my hardware must support at least Pixel Shader 1.1 to run the game. I looked up my Gfx card online, and the specs say my card supports Pixel shader 1.4. The requirements on the box say I need a card that supports Direct X 8. This shouldn't be a problem, because I've used both 8 and 9 on Windows. Is this

Team Fortress 2 (Half Life 2) trouble
Hi, I've been in #winehq all day with this and nobody seemed to have any ideas, so I figured I'd post here. I recently installed TF2, which is an official HL2 mod. No problems with installation. The problem is that when I launch the game itself, it crashes almost immediately and I get the error in the attached log (made using WINEDEBUG=+tid,+seh,+loaddll,+d3d,+d3d_shader,+d3d9). Thus

Team Fortress 2 Crashing After A Few Minutes of Playing
This problem has already been addressed on the AppDB for TF2, and it's been announced that it's due to the video card and mainly occurs with ATI video cards, which I currently have. However, I'm wondering if there's been a solution to this from either the Wine community or ATI themselves. I haven't been able to find anything on either official support website.

Team Fortress 2 Bug Fix Undone by New Patch
Okay, so awhile back I had a problem with Steam. It wouldn't start and so I fixed that after installing a minimal version of winetricks (I removed a few things I knew I wouldn't need). Then Steam worked. Unfortunately I then had a problem with Team Fortress 2. This time the game wouldn't load. So I read the AppDB for Team Fortress 2 again and it said to disable Steam Community
