Call for help with Wine 1.0 testing
Hi Folks,
One key goal for Wine 1.0 is that all of its conformance
tests run successfully on nearly all systems. We would really like
your help in figuring out how close we are to that goal.
To that end, if you are comfortable with checking Wine out via git,
could you please visit this page:
http://wiki.winehq.org/MakeTestFailures
and follow the instructions there? (It's really simple;

AutoWikiBrowser (.NET 2.0 app) with mono 1.9
AutoWikiBrowser (AWB) is a Wikipedia-oriented browser for doing
repetitive editing:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:AWB
AWB is a .NET 2.0 application. It doesn't work in Wine under Mono 1.2:

- but I see Mono 1.9 (preview of 2.0) is out, so decided to give it a go:

Move KDE Plasma Integration to KDE Git Infrastructure
Hi Compiz developers,
as you might know KDE will transition to git somewhen next week. This gives
some new possibilities for the Compiz community, too.
Let me first describe the current situation and the problems with it: Compiz
and KDE releases are out of sync. We are currently more and more integrating
features from the desktop shell into the window manager. In difference to

multiple t-tests across similar variable names
Hi everyone-
I have a dataset with multiple "pre" and "post" variables I want to compare. The variables are named "apple_pre" or "pre_banana" with the corresponding post variables named "apple_post" or "post_banana". The variables are in no particular order.

Wine on OpenBSD
Hi,
I was just wondering if there is any ongoing effort to get wine
ported to OpenBSD.
The wine version in their ports tree is from 1999 or so.

Wine runs your malware!
http://www.trustedsource.org/blog/186/Running-Windows-Malware-in-Linux
So: avoid running toxic waste, and use a fresh .wine and run ClamAV
over it regularly if you're fond of trying random binaries found on
the Net a lot ;-)

stream sounds like poo for no apparent reason
here at wkdu.org our minds are blown trying to figure out what our
problem is, we are using a dell optiplex gx1 with a soundblaster live
card. we are getting a nasty hum on the line in. the thing is we
plug a cd player directly into the soundcard the hum goes away and
when we plug the line in into anything else there is no hum, so the
question i ask where is the hum coming from? we are

The pros and cons of a wiki AppDB

There are a lot of apps without maintainers, and there might be users of those apps who would be willing take a few minutes to post bits of useful information in a wiki, but don't want the responsibility of being a maintainer. Ubuntu users, please upgrade to Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy for Wine 0.9.60 and later
To prevent conflicts when upgrading to 8.04, older releases will no
longer be getting Wine updates. Ubuntu Hardy will be released this
Thursday, and contains many fixes that also affect Wine, such as support
for some missing libraries in the 64 bit version.
By default, Ubuntu's update manager will disable third party
repositories on upgrade, which will leave you with the Wine included in

MSN Messenger in Wine?
It's marked "garbage" in the appdb, because the installer doesn't run
without quite a bit of tweaking. But anyway ...
I want to get MSN working in Wine. It's for my girlfriend's daughter,
whose XP box just got trashed by a virus/rootkit (spread via MSN, of
course). So we've saved her stuff and we're nuking and paving the box.
I would like to use Ubuntu instead of
