napster
Would someone who has tried napster 2.0 beta 9 comment on how well it works under the influence of wine. Although I often download with gnapster, you can't share your files. If no one shares, there's nothing to download... Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/

CM00/01 Under wine - no keyboard
I've managed to get Championship Manager Season 00/01 running under wine, however the game refuses to recognise any keystrokes. The keyboard seems to work fine with other emulated apps, just this game. Anyone got any suggestions as to what I might be able to do to get it going? Running wine 20010112 on Debian 2.2.17 with Xwindows 4.01. Many thanks in advance. Sent via Deja.com

cannot install codeweavers wine
I am trying to install the Codeweavers version of wine (pre-release 2) and I am having problems. When I try to install (using rpm), I get the message "installing package codeweavers-wine-20010112-1 needs 7Mb on the / filesystem". My / filesystem is not overly large, but I still have approx 60Mb available on /. Is the error stating that the install requires 7Mb on /, or it needs 7Mb more

"Unable to open file..."
I already have Wine working under Linux, primarily to run Quicken. I'm trying to run TaxAct 2000, without success. Starting TaxAct, I get the TaxAct splash screen followed by an error box stating "Unable to open 2000 Tax Return File.ta0". The filename contains whitespace as shown. The debug message log shows an attempt to open the file: Call kernel32.250:

Samba conf. problem - NetBIOS problem?
Thanks to those who wrote and suggested I remove NetBEUI from my Win95 machines. Here's the next chapter in the story: First, based on another suggestion, I tried "netstat -a" on the Win95 machine "secretary". It didn't show any kind of traffic on ports 137-139 (even though files WERE being shared at the time). Next, I tried removing NetBEUI from

help!
This is my first time using wine, so forgive me if I am asking a question that's already been answered (although I DID search docs and NG's first..) EVERY time I run Wine (wine-only install, no MS_DOS partition), it goes thru the "building font metrics" phase, which takes forever, but i've seen 1 program run successfully, so something must be working.. When I try to run the

[LLVMdev] Re: Creating Release 1.7 Branch at 1:00pm PDT
The issue I had with Linux has been resolved. I was able to get the deja-gnu tests to pass on a Linux release build by first installing those release binaries into my PATH. Apparently running the debug versions while doing the "make check" in optimized mode, causes the failures. Why, I'm not sure. In any event, in going through this adventure, I learned a few things: 1.

Thank you wine developers!
Just wanted to drop a note and say thank you to all the wine developers. Your hard work is really starting to pay off. I've just finished playing half-life, both counterstrike and original for the past few hours with nearly no glitches at all. Single player, multi-player internet hosting as well. The only problem I've run into is using the Kernel based sound modules vs. Alsa. That's

Needed files from WIN dist. [BEFORE: Windows Installation under WINE]
I think everyone misunderstood me. I'm not trying to set up windows to start using windows in Linux like with VMWare. Why would anyone want to do that. My problem is the fact that I need some files from MS-Windows to be able to run some programs in WINE. Like I need regedit.exe and other programs in the windows distibution. I see that most people copy the c:\windows\ directory from a

I made the windows port, the first example compiled and executed correctly. I am sending a patch so you can test it if i didn't break linux compatibility. Otherwise, I will look into deja-gnu testing, perhaps can compile it on windows. I will also add other beckend in the future (Sparc, PowerPC). I hope windows using Visual C++ will be soon officially supported :) About the problem I had
