SoundBlaster 16 removal impending
(Reply directly, as I''m not subscribed here.)
As you may have seen, ARC recently approved my case to remove the
ancient sbpro driver Solaris.
I''m intent on doing that, because it really helps with our OSS
integration effort, which I''m now leading.
The problem is, will this impact qemu? I''m not sure of the answer. I

How to auto-start and -stop xVM domains?
I''m trying to figure out what the CURRENT requirements are for
configuring the xVM domains to start at boot-time and stop on shutdown.
The closest to current I''ve seen is
http://opensolaris.org/os/community/xen/docs/xVM_lowres.pdf
which does not address the problem, and
http://opensolaris.org/os/community/xen/docs/xvm-ktde-20070917.pdf
which states:

p2v for sxce snv115 to xvm on opensolaris host?
hi folks,
is there a straightforward or well-documented way to migrate my physical sxce snv_115 (x64) system into an xvm ?
searching for "p2v" in an opensolaris context seems to pick up a few hits on zones, but nothing obvious relating to xvm on opensolaris
for what it''s worth the host system is opensolaris (2010.02 snv_126), but i''m hoping that''s not very

xvm networking on 2005.11 (b94) with iwk
After googling around and reading the material on the opensolaris.org
xvm community site, I still do not understanding the configuration of
networking and would appreciate some assistance.
Problem:
I have successfully installed an hvm domU running Windows XP on
opensolaris 2005.11 (build 94), and when the laptop (lenovo t61, core2
9300) is connected via the e1000g0 interface networking works

st devices not showing up in xvm
I have a Sony lib-162 tape library hooked up to an adaptec 39160 scsi controller.
I''m running OpenSolaris / Indiana snv_98 with the CADP160 driver installed from
a SXCE dvd (snv_99). When I boot without xvm, I can run "mt config" and see the
configuration information for the first drive in the library. Under xvm, some scsi
operations still work - I can access the changer, move

Paravirtualized Solaris Update 6 (10/08)?
Gurus;
I''ve been running Solaris 10 on a HVM domain on my machine (running SXCE
snv_93 x86) for some time now.
Now that Solaris 10 Update 6 (10/08) has been released, I tried creating
a Paravirtualized Guest domain but got the same error message I got
previously...
# virt-install -n sol10 -p -r 1560 --nographics -f

install sxce as paravirtual guest
I have tried to define a domain or using virt-install both failed.
Could some one give me the correct command to do this?
I used:
virt-install --nographics --paravirt --os-type=solaris
--os-variant=opensolaris --ram 1024 --name cam-host --disk
path=/dev/dsk/c0t600A0B800049E902000008EB4A9CE744d0p0,driver=phy -l

xVM and VirtualBox
Hi
unfortunately VirtualBox does not work yet in a Solaris Dom0:
I installed VirtualBox beta and it runs fine on bare metal.
Unfortunately the necessary driver does not load automatically in a xVM
Dom0. It can be loaded manually but it looks like it does not work in a
Dom0:

Dom0 issues: snv_79b and Tecra M9
Hi all,
I have a Toshiba Tecra M9 and have not been able to boot it dom0. This
is running SXDE 01/08, snv79b.
After booting under kmdb and setting moddebug=80000000 before booting
the Solaris kernel (with help from Dan Mick), I was able to see
mac_ether as the last thing loading, right after loading the e1000g
driver. I cannot drop into kmdb via F1-A after it hangs. I''ve also

Convert VirtualBox VM to xVM?
Hi all,
I''m in the process of building a home server with OpenSolaris 2009.06. It''s main function is to serve files (hence using OpenSolaris for some ZFS goodness), but I want to host some Windows x64 VMs on it as well.
Given that there are currently no x64 Windows drivers for xVM, I was thinking of starting with VirtualBox (which does have x64 Windows drivers), and then

re: HA Storage
Greetings,
on this matter, Sunfire x4150 a 1U machine with 2xcpu sockets, "eight"
drive bays, 64 GB expandability, 4 NIC packs quite a punch for its
size.
I don't think I've ever seen such power in such a small package

SXCE 121 Kernel Panic while installing NetBSD 5.0.1 PVM DomU
Hi all!
I am running SXCE 121 on a dual quad-core X2200M2 (64 bit of course).
During an installation of a NetBSD 5.0.1 PVM domU, the entire machine
crashed with a kernel panic. Here''s what I managed to salvage from
the LOM console of the machine:

xVM Ready for serious use ?
I currently have 2 x ESXi boxes that have VMs stored on a NFS/iSCSI debian lenny linux box. I had purchased a new whitebox server as an intended replacement for the linux box. I had always planned on installing opensolaris on the new hardware with this config;
2 x 640GB mirrored rpool
6 x 1TB in raidz2
This box was going to be built in parallel with the current server and I would have simply

zfs list improvements?
To improve the performance of scripts that manipulate zfs snapshots and the zfs snapshot service in perticular there needs to be a way to list all the snapshots for a given object and only the snapshots for that object.
There are two RFEs filed that cover this:

''zfs list'' should have an option to only present direct

ZFS storage appliance?
I''ve been doing a lot of reading about ZFS lately, and I''m quite enamored of its design goals. The reliability considerations are particularly attractive, and the snapshot scheme is more robust than anything I''m familiar with. I would very much like to keep my personal data in such a filesystem.
Some time ago, I caught the launch of Drobo, a USB-connected box that does
