New list ?
Hi, Taking this to a new thread. Thoughts on getting a new list started up ? Should it be centos-sysadmin or centos-infra ? Are we going to then restrict it to admin/infra related chatter ? in which case, does the eyeball density on this list reduce for that sort of content ? How about the politics and news stuff that gets posted to this list. And how would those things be addressed with

RHEL 7 Beta is now public
Hi, http://ftp.redhat.com/redhat/rhel/beta/7/ Go get it ( maybe consider using a mirror ), play with it, test it, and file reports. Dont use it in production. As in the past, we highly encourage people to use the official beta builds from Red Hat and to report issues at http://bugzilla.redhat.com/ Within CentOS, we are going to do a CentOS7Beta1 build to match the release upsteam, and do it in

Last few days in CentOS
hi everyone, I know this update has been a bit delayed, things have been pretty hectic. But lots of good updates for everyone: Distro -------- * Updates for CentOS Linux 5/7 : All updates from upstream are released into the CentOS mirror network. * Upstream 6.7 was released a few days back, we have all the rpms from that release built and released to the early-adopters into the CentOS-CR repos

Why CentOS as a webhosting platform
Hi, CentOS seems to be doing really well in the hosting business these days, and even for people who would normally have used Windows or OSX on the hosting previously, are now looking at using CentOS. And I thought it would be nice to have a section on the wiki about exactly why that is. Not having any direct connection with the hosting business I was wondering if people here could help me

CentOS-7 Security Updates
Hi all, I'm trying to clarify the security updates policy for older CentOS-7 releases. There is a number of servers I'm supporting that are running CentOS-7 1503. When 1511 was released several days ago I've tried to upgrade several of those, but failed. I've got some strange errors with e1000 virtual NIC being restarted frequently with 'tx unit hang' errors. Anyway,

CentOS 7 AMI on AWS GovCloud region
Hi, I'm working on building a cluster on AWS atop CentOS 7. For development, I've been working in the eu-west-1 (Ireland) region, where the AWS MarketPlace provides an official CentOS 7 AMI (ami-e4ff5c93). However, the production deployment is taking place in AWS's GovCloud region for regulatory reasons, and there, I couldn't find an official CentOS 7 AMI. Are there plans to

CERN using RHEL/CentOS?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi list, I just did my daily news scan and saw some screenshots that illustrate the press release [0] announcing the first collisions at the LHC. Those screenshots show windows and buttons that exactly match my CentOS GNOME Desktop [1]. AFAIK, SuSE/Novell has different skins, as has (Open)Solaris and AIX, for instance. So, has there anybody more

tripwire
Tripwire is probably one of must-have utilities for many system administrators. However, it is missing from almost all recent Red Hattish distributions. IMO, probably due to the fact that source compiles only on i386, and needs patches to compile almost every time new major version of gcc is released. However, in absence of good replacement, this is all we have. (IMO, other tools such as AIDE

RasPi 3.x and RH-based Distro (Slightly OT)
With the release of the Rasberry Pi 3.x, I think we have a platform I could jump on board with. Performance has just been lacking until now! But I really don't want to jump the "RH ship" - I'd rather stick with an environment I am comfortable in. Can anybody comment here on the best way to run RHEL/Fedora/CentOS on a RasPi, or if there's even a useful port? Thanks

Off topic list for centos please?
Could we have a centos-offtopic list please, so anything that would be considered OT can be posted there? That way it would keep anything considered as OT and list-noise off the main centos specific list. So each users then has the option of being on the main centos list, and/or the centos-offtopic list as well. That would keep the more experienced centos users happy, and allow us less
