Energy efficient UPS - anybody?
Hello, i`m looking for a nut-compatible low-power UPS (need to hook a home-server+dsl equipment with a load of ~50W to that) which should be as energy efficient as possible and be also affordable. i currently have an older powerwalker which constantly burns ~15W for nothing. The transformer inside getting that hot that you don`t like to touch it and i think 15W out of 50 is a little bit high

ZFS on a 11TB HW RAID-5 controller
Hello all, I am a complete newbie to OpenSolaris, and must to setup a ZFS NAS. I do have linux experience, but have never used ZFS. I have tried to install OpenSolaris Developer 134 on a 11TB HW RAID-5 virtual disk, but after the installation I can only use one 2TB disk, and I cannot partition the rest. I realize that maximum partition size is 2TB, but I guess the rest must be usable. For

Cyberpower 1500AVR
All, I just had a power failure that caused me a little drama. This spurred me into trying to get NUT up on my cyberpower 1500 again. For about 6 months I tried to get it to work with the new power panel drive with no luck. Today I removed all the old files for NUT and installed the newest version I could find (2.4.3) and it works perfectly now with my UPS. Hopefully now I

Strange problem with two Cyberpower UPS'es
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I'm in the process of upgrading my solution to spread the load over two ups'es. Both are Cyberpower, where one is the classic "Intelligent" 1500LCD, the other a "Value" 2200E Both connect via UPS, and both work using the ups-hid driver. So far so good. The idea is to connect both of them via USB to the same FreeBSD 8

pebcak or something else?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I've set up my ups solution with a dedicated box (laptop with its own powersupply) connected to the ups, and have set up upsmon.conf to use a customized script (SHUTDOWNCMD "/usr/local/upsmonitor-files/shutdown.sh") that shuts down my ESXi boxes properly. However when ups power reaches the shutdown point, it seems that NUT promptly

RAID10
Hi All, I am looking at ZFS and I get that they call it RAIDZ which is similar to RAID 5, but what about RAID 10? Isn''t a RAID 10 setup better for data protection? So if I have 8 x 1.5tb drives, wouldn''t I: - mirror drive 1 and 5 - mirror drive 2 and 6 - mirror drive 3 and 7 - mirror drive 4 and 8 Then stripe 1,2,3,4 Then stripe 5,6,7,8 How does one do this with ZFS?

NUT, USB, OpenIndiana
I'm about to deploy en OpenIndiana (the heir of OpenSolaris) box as my main iSCSI backend. However, all attempts at getting NUT 2.6 to work with my usbhid-ups cyberpower has resulted in the driver going down with a segmentation fault. Is there a known problem with nut+usb+openindiana (opensolaris), or am I just doing something wrong? //Svein --

Accurate battery reports? (HP R3000 XR)
Hi I have a HP R3000 XR UPS which NUT never says is at 100% battery. It seems stuck in 98 or 99 . something percentage. How accurate should i expect the reports to be? All my other UPSes has been and is at 100%, even those i have retired. My monitor system runs debian. The host that is physically connected to this ups runs: nut 2.2.2-6.4 The web script runs nut-cgi 2.0.4-4 JonB

The VMWare headache and NUT
I'm having an UPS connected to my ReadyNAS 2100 (running NUT, btw) who is in turn providing iSCSI storage for my two vmware host boxes. The same UPS provides power for those two boxes. I have a proper license, so the vmware vMA 4.1 _CAN_ in theory shut down the hosts (not a read-only connection as you get with the free version), but I'm having issues getting NUT to ... play ball with the

Hi debian jessie, nut 2.7.2-4 APC Smart-UPS 1500 connected through USB, running nut driver usbhid-ups This UPS powers my switches, internet connection and my monitor server that monitors this and my other UPSes + runs smokeping and nagios.
