Navigating to the upper floor of the /Home directory using Wine.
I want to be able to use Wine to reach the /home base partition or
directory. By wanting such a thing, do I install Wine on the /usr
directory or do I do that on home itself?

Execution of WineTools with Wine version 20041201 on RedHat 9
Hi,
I've installed Wine version 20041201 on RedHat 9 and Winetools 210-jo,
but when I try to execute Winetools (by typing wt2 on shell (as a user,
not root), I just get all the error messages below. Any suggestions as
to what I'm doing wrong, please?
Best regards,
Andy

Proper way of updating winetools?
After updating from, say winetools-2.10-jo to 2.11-jo (by rpm), I can't
use the wt startup scripts like ie6, wmplayer etc. any longer, and I get
an error message similar to "winetools hasn't been configured for this
user. Run the base setup ..." But doing so would erase my ~/.wine
directory and thus destroy my old setup including all my program
installations, which of course

ThunkConnect32 Failure!
Greetings,
I have tried to get IE5.5 & 6 running on
Wine under FreeBSD 5.3.
When I try to install DCOM98.EXE using
Joachim's WineTools, it asks me
"OK to install DCOM98 for Windows 98?" <Yes>
Then I get the "Please read the following license agreement..."
dialog <Yes>.
Then I get a "ThunkConnect32 Failure!" message.
Any idea why?

Step-by-step guide for PowerPoint under wine?
Dear All,
is there a step-by-step guide on how to install
PowerPoint 2000 with wine (I'm running PhotoShop 3 and
UltraEdit with it, perfectly !)
System: SuSE Personal 9.1, wine -version is
20040213-41.
I tried to start the install with 'wine
/path/to/CD-ROM/setup.exe', it takes forever and
finally it returns with 'file not found'.
The files are all there, expect that on the

WineTools (2.1.0) + WINEPREFIX
Hi!
I have difficulties using WineTools 2.1.0 with WINEPREFIX set.
It does not matter whether use wineprefixcreate or not.
I want to start a new wine-Konfiguration from scratch:
export WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.wine
wineprefixcreate (or not)
wt > /tmp/Fehlermeldungen.wt 2>&1
When I try "Create a fake windows drive", WineTools doesn't create one
although it said it did!

Installing Wordview with Winetools
Dear friends:
I am pleased to say that I successfully installed Internet Explorer
Sp1 on my Linux (Scientific Linux 4.0, which is based on RHEL 4)
using Wintools.
After installing IE6, I thought installing WordView (the Word97
word view program) would be a snap. But instead Wintools failed
to install it in several attempts. It started, downloaded the file and
tried to install it. But at

[Fwd: Re: Execution of WineTools with Wine version 20041201 on RedHat 9]
Joachim, apologies again for bothering you,
but after I sent the email below, I managed to link Xdialog in /usr/bin
to /usr/local/Winetools to get Winetools to work (I'm still getting used
to the 'peculiarities' of linux!). I went through the Base Setup
procedure as advised, and it seemed to work 'mostly OK', but I think
there is a problem with my glibc as you advised - a

minor disaster
Somehow my .config ended up with zero bytes. The only things I can think of
happening is looking at it in WineTools, and perhaps failing to install a
program. Any ideas? The last time it had something in it was yesterday when I
looked at it in WineTools, then this morning it had nothing in it. But I
don't remember if it was before or after trying to install something. I just
thought that

Installation of IE6 and Office2000 with wine 0.9.12
Hi,
I used some time ago the winetools package to configure wine older than 0.9.10
with IE6 and Office 2000. Updates of wine up to 0.9.10 where also succesful,
so that I was able to continue the usage of MS Office2000.
But since the Desktop changes in wine 0.9.11, 0.9.12 the old installation does
no more work.

Drive Designation
I keep reading on this list where drive C: is referred to as "~/.wine/drive_c"
but on my system (due to no special smarts on my part that would be
"~/.wine/dosdevices/c:" instead. Why this difference? Are the ones who post
basing their operation on an older way of doing things? The ability to use "c:"
rather than "drive_c" seems nicer IMNSHO. FWIW,

Help config Wine!
Hi everybody! I'm a brand new Wine user. I'm trying to set it up using
winetools-212jo. But it says right at the start my version of Wine
(20050930) is not support. Should I worry about it?
Anyway, I've a dual boot system (Linux and WinXP). How can I set Wine up
so it "sees" my Windows partition (NTFS, supported by my 2.6.13.3
kernel) and use the programs currently

perhaps anybody has some idea for my problem.
I've had several nice successes with WINE. GoogleEarth e.g. or some of

Now yesterday I've sent my tax-declaration (in Germany: ElsterFormular)

declaration!! NOTHING at all happened.
I havn't ever tried to print, it was not

Installing IE6 in wine-0.9.8
Hello everybody,
I know there are many HOWTOs out there about installing IE6, but none
seem to mention the problem I have.
The installation of IE6 doesn't go beyond the window:

you are connected to the internet or try to run Setup later again"
