unreadable small fonts
I like to run character mode program with wine. When I start it, every character seems to be 1 or 2 pixel height, which is unreadable. I read the online documentation for fonts and consol, but I haven't found any usefull idea. Do anybody have one? Thanks -- Cs?sz?r P?ter

read the middle of a file
Hello, The other day Justin Peter presented a mini program to plot a topographic map with an overlay of the worldHires. I seemed interesting so I checked the ETOPO5 site and find that there is a new file ETOPO1 with a 1 minute grid. I downloaded it and tried a similar procedure. Now the ETOPO1.gz is 1 Gb and the uncompressed file is 5 Gb. They do not fit into my laptop. I tried the following

Dear R experts, please excuse me for writing to the mailing list without subscribing. I have a somewhat urgent problem that relates to R. I have to process large amounts of data with R - I'm in an international collaboration and the data processing protocol is fixed, that is a specific set of R commands has to be used. Fonts are too small in menu bar
Hi. Is there any chance I can increase the size of my fonts for the applications opened with wine? My resolution is 1600 x 1050 and the size seems to be from 5 to 6 pixels (or dpi) and it really hurts my eyes. All my linux apps are just ok at 10 pixels (or dpi) Thanks in advance Luis

Help on choosing the appropriate analysis method
Dear R-help, I'd like ask for your opinion on choosing the "right" strategy for a particular dataset. We conducted 24-hour electric field measurements on 90 subjects. They are grouped by job (2 categories) and location (3 categories). There are four exposure metrics assigned to each subject. An excerpt from the data: n job location M OA UE all 0 job1 dist_200 0.297 0.072 0.171

Fonts too small in Photopaint 9 for Linux
Hi, I've got Photopaint 9 running fine under Mandrake 8 after running the postinst script. But, fonts used by Photopaint is so small and it is inconvenient to look at... My resolution is 1024x768 on GeForce2MX and Philips 105S (15"). After reading the Wine documentation, I changed the following: Resolution = 120 (from 96) In wine.conf under the [fonts] section, then logout, restart X

How to fix Wine menu fonts that are too small
I just installed WINE and got it working to some extent, but the menu and dialog box fonts are too small. See an example at this URL: http://www.fixaim.com/temp/winecfg.jpg After searching winehq.org and Google groups and various other places, the only remedies that have been suggested have not worked. One suggestion was to copy the fonts found in such places as /usr/share/fonts/ttf and

I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem, but I can't find any reference to it anywhere... When I start an app such as getright that minimises straight away to the systray, I get a tiny window with no icons, which my window list calls "Wine-Systray". I have to be super accurate to put the mouse in the right spot to right click on what should be the getright icon (but

Huge amount of used inode handlers reported by sar -v (inode-sz)
Any help with this problem would be very much appreciated (even "it's not 7.3 or ext3 pointers, look somewhere else"). I've seen a similar post to ext3-users, but since that one received no reply and I'm not convinced it's a ext3 problem (it only appears on our 7.3 hosts) , I'm CCing to the valhalla list. We have the same problem on ALL our Redhat 7.3 machines
