Cisco 7905
Can anyone tell me the features of the Cisco 7905 with SIP? I mean things
like number of lines, speakerphone, transfer buttons, etc. I've seen the
Cisco material, but all it told me was how nifty it is and how wonderful
the XML interface will be ;)
Thanks,

Receptionist phones
I've been playing with Asterisk for a few weeks and it's working great.
I have a question about getting multi-line receptionist phones working.
I was thinking about getting one of these expansion ports:

Cisco 7960 SIP + 7914
I found a few mentions of the 7914 being used with Asterisk, these all
covered SCCP/skinny though. Does anyone know if the 7914 can even be
used with SIP? If so, any pointers? Is it a services thing? Anyone get
the operator (line/extension status) to work with it. Thanks for the
help, Cisco doesn't even mention ANYTHING about SIP + the 7914.

Cisco 7940G licensing with asterisk
Hi there,
In Cisco web site
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/phones/ps379/products_data_sheet09186a008008884a.html
It says that regardless of the technology used you have to buy a licencse.
Does the license apply to use the phone with asterisk, or, can i just
buy the phone?
Also, the phone does not requiere to use an AC adapter if used with
PoE injectors/switches.
Can non-Cisco PoE

Do I need a CH1 licence for Cisco Phones ?
I've got a question regarding Cisco IP Phones and licencing.
When using a third party PBX like asterisk is a licence required for the
Cisco phones ? Has anyone got anything in writing from Cisco to clarify this
?
Eg can I just use CP-7961G or do I need CP-7961G-CH1 even though I'm not
using Cisco Callmanager ?

Cisco 79xx Ringtones
Hi,
I'm after two very specific ringtones for the 79xx's...
A dog barking, and a horse either galloping or neighing.
I've tried making the sounds, but for some bizarre reason they're not
working. I used to make quite a few ringtones for the 79xx's, but I
seem to have forgotten how to do it! And to top things off, I can't
even find the documentation on Cisco's site

Fwd:[Vocal] Question about Cisco IP hard phones
Interesting notes on the 79xx series.
The 7920 is the wireless phone; not mentioned here.
For a more complete guide to Cisco's phones, see:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/phones/ps379/products_data_sheets_list.html
The 7902 is the "very inexpensive" Cisco phone, and it looks like it
will be SCCP (Skinny) only. Twiddling my thumbs here waiting for the

Skinny + XMLDefault
Please forgive me my ignorance ...
I've spent two days trying to find out something about the format of the
default configuration file, which CCM produces. The only example I have so
far is the one from the chan_sccp source.
There were tons of references on entering the callmanager commands on a
cisco command line - which I don't have (don't need thanks to
chan_skinny + chan_sccp).

Cisco 7970 Won't boot after factory reset
Hi Everyone -
I just got my hands on a Cisco 7970 and was told that I should do a
factory reset before trying to configure it to work with Asterisk.
After the factory reset, it will not boot at all, instead sits with the
line button lights flashing one at a time in sequence.
I have had no luck trying to figure it out - anyone run into the same
problem that can lend a hand..?
Thanks

Cisco 802.11b VoIP phone?
I wonder if anyone could send me a pointer to technical specs and
pricing information.
I got a mail today from an acquaintence that contains what I believe is
some serious misinformation, referring to the 7960 as their new portable
802.11b SIP phone. A quick search of eBay would seem to refute that.
I hope this is an OK question to ask. . .
Thx.

cisco 7970 sccp
Does anyone have the 7970 work with sccp?
I have used the example configurations from the wiki.
I can see that the phone is failing to retrieve the
CTLSEP<MAC>.tlv file and then is able to retrieve the
SEP<MAC>.cnf.xml file. The phone is hanging with the
message "updating ctl".
Thanks,
John

Hello List,
Does anyone have access to the soft key configuration files for the
Cisco 7911/7941/7970/7971 phones? Checked up on the Cisco site and
didn't find much up there.
Thanks

SIP Phone recommendation for Receptionist
Hi there,
I've got an installation where there's 12 POTS line incoming into *, and
am trying to get some insight as to which VoIP hard phone would be most
suitable for this scenario.
Most of the VoIP phones I've looked at only have 4-6 line presentations;
is anyone aware of one that has more? I tried to get some info about

[Release] Skinny Support in cvs
If you have been paying attention, you already know this, but this
weekend I have spent time ironing out the various details with my
chan_skinny code that has been out there, if you knew where to look. I
believe I now have all basic features operational and am going to be
working on getting the class 5 (hold, transfers, call waiting and
caller*id, etc) operational in the comming week(s).

Need help selecting phones
I'm new to the asterisk world and have been playing with an asterisk
server with 1 FXO card for a couple of weeks.
Now I'm looking to start adding IP Desk Phones but I'm unable to come to
a decision on what phones to use.
I like to look of the Polycoms, but because we are not a "phone company"
I can't see us getting reseller authorized for them.
Shoretel has some nice
