SAR
Folks, At what point in iowait should I start to worry about having a bottleneck, or is this something that can't be answerd with a single integer? According to sar, after my last reboot to turn off hyperthreading as a test, at one time, I see 4.9% iowait, but then one minute later, it droped back to 0.01%, and rarely even gets to 1.0%, at least what I remember from yesterday. ?

Argument validation within functions
Hi, I just started with writing functions in R and so some questions popped up. I provide some values as argument to my function such as: function(a,b,c){} Now i want that the function first checks if the arguments are valid for the function. E.g argument "a" has to be a number in the range 0-1. How can that easily done? So far I have: a <- as.numeric(a) if(0 <= a &&

combn implementation
Hi, I was checking the source code to the function combn that "generates all combinations of the elements of 'x' taken 'm' at a time.", because I wished to modify it. I have a doubt about a statement. This is the main loop. ._1 <- 1:1 nmmp1 <- n - m + ._1 while (a[1] != nmmp1) { if (e < n - h) { h <- ._1 e <-

Get timestamp and processor ID in the IR
Hi Hal, Thanks for the pointer. Is it possible to get the processor ID on X86 architecture? There is a library call in linux, sched_getcpu(), to the ID. Also, is it possible to get the program counter in the IR? DTMF Talk off
Hello all, I have seen some chatter again about DTMF. I see most of the talk about DTMF around not being able to get an external IVR to recognize digits, not a big issue for me at this time but sill interesting. My issue though, is with talk off on a zap channel. It seems to be getting worse or maybe my patience is thinning. All my calls go out and come in pstn through an FXO as I do not

astcc dont write to the table cdrs or cards
Hi, I have set-up astcc with outgoing sip channel. Call processing works fine but after the call tables, CDR and Cards does not get updated. At the beginning it goes to the database and fetch card details and correctly provides the card balance etc. Also it indeed write the inuse field (so writing and reading from database works fine). I've inserted a break point as such in the code;

problem with the plm package (2)

Clarks 2Dt function in R
Dear Ben, you answerd to Nancy Shackelford about Clarks 2Dt function. Since the thread ended just after your reply, I would like to ask, if you have an idea how to use this function in R I defined it the following way: function(x , p, u) { (p/(pi*u))*(1+(x^2/u))^(p+1) } and would like to fit this one to my obeservational data (count) [,1] [,2] [1,] 15 12 [2,] 45 13 [3,]
