How to add circular text for a graph with concentric circles
Dear R experts,
I am plotting the population of students who live in a city, and in
successive circular bands made of the contiguous districts that surround
the city. This is a stylized figure, where I specify the area of each
successive circle based on the cumulative population of students. I want
to compare two sets of concentric circles across different populations -

Weird Runtime Error
I'm attempting to use WINE to run a Windows MFC application on Fedora
Core. I have a couple of different versions of the application, though
to be honest, I'm not really sure of any differences in them (I'm an
intern, I was handed this to do and I'm learning about the programs as
I go).
When running one of the executables, it just pops up a window that
says:

Would it be sufficiant if I were to copy the makefile and res_config_ldap.c
to the res/ directory of my running Asterisk and do make; make install? or
do I have to do LIBS=-lldap export LIBS ./configure before that? My asterisk
version is 1.2.6.
Thanks in advance,
Abhishek

Using OLE DB Connections from Wine
Hi,
I'm trying to use Enterprise Architect under wine. According to their documentation it runs on "Codeweavers Crossover" so I believe it should also run under wine (it's listed as basically working in the application DB http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=6018 ( http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=6018 ) ).

Name resolution error help needed
Hello,
I've checked the FAQ and followed steps I can find there. I made sure my
/etc/hosts is correct as in the FAQ. I tried complete
uninstall/reinstall of Wine and data. Iceweasel and all other normal
linux programs work fine to resolve addresses. WoW under Wine works
fine. Fresh install of Firefox for Windows only works under Wine if I
use a IP address instead of a hostname, so Wine

StreetSmart Pro - hang during install
Hi,
I built Wine-0.9.5 this morning from portage on one of our Gentoo
machines. I then tried installing the StreeSmart Pro Simulator
application from Charles Schwab. The install hung very quickly and got
to the point where a winepreloader process was using 100% CPU but was
making no apparent forward progress. When I hit Ctrl-C in the terminal
where I was running I got this info in an error box:

libwine-alsa, etc. still relevant?
This came up before when debian upgrade wanted to remove these because of
their being the previous version. Now all the version numbers are consistant.
Deborphan lists them as orphans--no longer used!
So ... are all these provided in the "main" wine library and these packages
actually orphans? If so, why are they still around? If not, what is going on?
Packages are from the

Mandriva problems
Have problems to install quite a few programs with wine - Mandriva 2006,
that I can install without problems with other distros (SuSE10.0, Fedora
C4 and Kubuntu 5.10) on other partitions on the same machine. My main
interest is to install Excel 97 to be able to access my old wk4-files (I
know I can convert them to xls-files to use with Open Office, but I
don't want to do that, as I can

changed on my system that prevents wine from installing. I can only run

libwine 20041019 needed
Hello,
I am deinstalling wine and reinstalling at the
20041019 level. I'm running the 2.6.11.7 kernel with
the debian distribution. In Aptitude I need to
reinstall wine, winetools and libwine. I can find the
20041019 version for everything except libwine. I
think libwine must be known by a different name in the
rest of the *nix world. I am downloading the RH9 RPM

can't find libntdll.so, but it's there
Wine (20001202-1mdk) invoked, message "can't find libntdll.so, no such file
or directory." However there is such a file. Same wine.conf file used as
with earlier version 20001026-4mdk. In both installations, wine never made
a proper wine.conf file, file was blank and I had to write my own. I don't
notice anything in the wine.conf file about where the libraries are.
