Zimbra IMAP authentication - SOLVED
Hello, everyone. No need to read this message. I'm posting for documentation for other poor, ignorant slobs like me who are struggling to pull together the many technologies to make converged networks happen. Hopefully, this will help save someone else the time I spent. I started the below email until I realized I had solved multiple parts of a compound problem but not all at the same time.

IMAP voice mail storage
Hello, all. I am attempting to use IMAP voice mail storage in Asterisk 1.6.1.1 on CentOS 5.3 using Zimbra 5.1.6. I will not be using it as it has proved terribly unstable - Asterisk segfaults on every voice mail message although the message is successfully deliver to my email inbox - but I thought I should report it. Here are the errors from the Asterisk console: -- Executing [210 at

IMAP Voicemail - can't get messages. Arrgh!
Hi - I just deployed a system using IMAP Voicemail. During my testing, voicemail worked fine. I could check vm from the phone, and the messages would get marked as read, or I could read the messages in a mail client, and the phone's mwi light would turn off. Very neat. I'm not exactly sure when things got munged up, but something broke. I can record messages with Voicemail(), but now

VoiceMail Issue
Hello, am attempting again to resolve an issue with multi-tenancy and the forwarding to VMs between mailboxes. If in a multi-tenancy environment one uses custom contexts ie. [a1-ext1](a1) mailbox=101 at a1 and the associated voicemail.conf entry: [a1] 101 => 1234,My User 1,addr1 at email.com,,tz=eastern|imapuser=addr1 at email.com|imapfolder=Inbox 102 => 1234,My User 2,addr2 at

Voicemail IMAP storage enhancement
Hello, I have several voicemail accounts that share the same IMAP mailbox (same imapuser), and I'd like to store their messages in separate IMAP subfolders. I tried to set 'imapfolder' settings on a per voicemail account basis, but it does not seem to work. All messages keep being stored in the same INBOX folder. Should I file a feature request on the asterisk-dev list, or is there a

1.6.1 Voicemail users.conf
Hello, We recently upgraded our Asterisk box from 1.4 to 1.6.1. In both versions of voicemail you can press 3 for advanced options, 5 to leave a message and enter an extension to leave a voicemail. This feature worked fine under 1.4. Now under 1.6.1 all the prompts are the same but when you enter the extension it reads back the extension (or says the recorded name if present) then goes straight

vpn2fw before nordc1918 in ???_in
I am not subscribed to the list, so if you could CC me on replies, it would be appreciated. Hi there. I am running 2.0.8 on a linux 2.6 kernel with ipsec (i.e. no ipsec<n> interfaces). Since ipsec traffic comes in on the same interface as "net" traffic, I have been looking at the rules for "eth0_in" on my ipsec gateway/firewall. I see that "norfc1918" is

VMauthenticate always asks for mailbox
I've been trying to use the VMAuthenticate function in 1.2+. This function is supposed to "behave[s] the same way as the Authenticate application, but the passwords are taken from voicemail.conf." The problem is that it always gives the "comedian mail" prompt and requests the mailbox number, even though I provide the mailbox number already. The upshot is that

One mailbox for multiple extensions with individual greetings
Hi, Is there a way in Asterisk 11 to use a single voicemailbox for multiple extensions while still hearing each extension's individual greeting? Use case: someone has 2 numbers and wants all voicemail messages for both numbers to end up in one mailbox. So when dialing 1234 and NOANSWER you would hear "the person at extension 1234 is unavailable" and the message would be stored

Overriding global voicemail options on a per-mailbox basis
All; I'm currently using Asterisk 1.8 and I want to be able to have each user be able to set as many of the voicemail options as possible. The documentation calls voicemail options that can be overridden on a per-mailbox basis "advanced options". However, I've read conflicting information as to which options in the section [general] can be overridden. According to

compile error with postgres and voicemail
Hello, I'm using asterisk-1.0.9 and wanted to compile it with database support in voicemail (postgres). I made the following changes in the /apps/Makefile: USE_MYSQL_VM_INTERFACE=0 USE_POSTGRES_VM_INTERFACE=1 Without theese changes asterisk compiles perfectly, but after setting the postgres variable on 1 (that's what I have to do or not?), asterisk terminates with the following compile

Incorrect voice mail format on transfer
Hello, all. I'm running Asterisk 1.6.1.6 on CentOS 5.3 in a multi-tenant environment with IMAP voice mail storage on Zimbra. One of our clients is having a problem when transferring voice mails from one mailbox to another (option 8 in the standard voice application menu) using their Snom 320 and 360 phones. The end results is the final recipient cannot listen to the voicemail. We also email

moving X11 portforwarding out into a "plugin" framework
I think everyone will admit that X11 forwarding has been an incredible feature in [open]ssh. X11 is not the only local->remote protocol that might be useful across an SSH session however. But having to hack the code for new protocols as they come around seems silly. Wouldn't it be more useful to be able to describe a protocol that needs forwarding and some configuration that might

sip forking needed for ekiga 3.0
So, I have been testing ekiga 3.0 with Asterisk, and sadly, it don't work. I am told by the ekiga devs in http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=553595 and http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=553810 that the problem is that Asterisk does not support SIP forking. The issue is that I have multiple addresses on my workstation: 2: eth0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500

Sipura Adapter SPA-2002
Hello. Has anyone run into problems accessing voicemail with the Sipura SPA-2002's? Our SPA-2000's work fine (registers fine, able to make and receive calls properly & also able to access voicemail). We've configured the 2002's exactly the same way. However, with the SPA-2002 we're unable to access the voicemail system (though it does register fine and is able to
