I have a Polycom 501 and I am trying to provision from an FTP server, and just to take any routing out of the issue it is on the same subnet. I am running the 2.0.1.0291 firmware and 3.2.2 bootrom. So has anyone had any experience working with the polycom 501 or 301 and vlans? We run dell managed switches here, so we don't have the luxury of running CDP to force the VOIP vlan. I haven't been able to get the polycom phones to talk on a manually set vlan. I have some junky sipura phones that work fine-(get dhcp, register to asterisk etc) when i manually set them to vlan4. Any advice

We are still having to touch each unit to enter the ftp server address and password, as well as set many of the options that will not take from the config file. Has anyone been succesful pushing a VLAN setting to a Polycom phone via DHCP? I can push the boot server via option 66 but that is about it. I am having an issue with doing FTP auto provisioning of Polycom 501's when they are behind a NAT. If I put the phone on the same subnet as the provision server it loads the configs and changes fine but as soon as I put in behind a NAT it comes up with cannot contact boot server. I have tried behind and replicated this behind a PIX 501, a Linksys SOHO router and a Motorolla SOHO router.

Hi, all. I see that the Polycom SoundPoint IP 330 supports VLAN... but I don't quite see how that works. Do you point a non-VLAN'd segment at it (akin to when you uplink a VLAN_enabled switch), and have the phone implement the VLAN? Or...? *puzzled* Thanks much, -Ken

We have taken packet traces of the phones to determine if there is something odd in the Layer 2 or 3 of the network that might cause it, and have not seen anything strange. Hello all, We have an Asterisk server that has worked without issue for a while. Before, only Sipura and Polycom 500 series phones were used. Recently, we've added a few POE switches and 20 or so Polycom 330's. The 330's seem to lock up often. One easy way to do this is by hitting the * key. I looked thru the XML files for dialplan and what not, nothing stood out.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a phone that has easy to understand/implement central provisioning? I've used CISCO 79XX phones, and they're great (but too expensive). I like Grandstream phones, but their provisioning sucks.
