Multihead related issues
First, there are two fundamentally diffrent types of doing multihead: The "one big screen" solution, usually achieved with xinerama , twinview or similar. This provides us with one Screen, and therefor one CompScreen structure. The output extens are retrieved from xinerama, or possibly randr (in the future?), I would assume. Then there is the less used "multiscreen" way, which

multiscreen
I'm wondering what the status of multiscreen support is supposed to be in 0.9.7.12. Using Ubuntu Precise, it seems that compiz only manages 1 screen and if you want compiz on both screens of a dual screen set up you need to start two compiz sessions as such: $ DISPLAY=:0.0 compiz --replace $ DISPLAY=:0.1 compiz --replace What makes this all so strange is that even when one starts only the

Help needed
Hello I am trying to solve these problems and I am not allowed to use loops or ifs. 1st Question My first question is that I have generated 100 random numbers from the uniform distribution then A)add only the negative integers. B)add elements until the first appearance of a negative element. I know how to choose the negative elements for A but how to find integers? And I dont know what to do

Multiscreen patches
0001-Do-not-use-shareList-for-multiple-screens.txt This is essential to get compiz to control multiple screens. I assume there's a better way though. We can either remove the shareList support entirely or we should check if it's supported or not. Improvements on this patch might be a good idea. In Beryl we chose to leave this as an option, but that doesn't strike me as the best

State of Steam Games
What is the current status of Steam games in Wine? Some people claim same or better performance than Windows and other say its much worse. At least with TF2, the game goes from great performance with decent settings in Windows, to barely playable with all settings on low in Wine. Can Steam games run well in Wine without having a machine so powerful it can overcome any software problems? Is there a

How To Get Games on Steam?
I'm about to try out Team Fortress 2 because my friends wanted me to join in with them, and I'm using Wine to run Steam. However, because I'm new to this Steam business and everything, I'm just curious -- how do I install a game using Steam as the AppDB says? Or, how do I move TF2 files to this "steamapps" folder, and if that is the preferred method, how can I get the

Problem running any games with Steam
When ever I try to run FEAR 2 or Half-Life in Steam the "Preparing to launch" window comes up and then disappears. I assume every game I have will do this same thing, but it takes way to long to install anything in Steam. Both games produce the following output in the terminal: Code: err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {9a5ea990-3034-4d6f-9128-01f3c61022bc} not registered

Connection problems with Steam games
Hello, I've been having problems trying to run Steam games. The Steam itself takes up a lot of resources even when idle, for some reason, but the games run rather smoothly - in menu that is. Most of the games I have on steam are multiplayer games, and as the topic title suggests, I can't ever get to play them due to problems on connection. When playing Men of War, the game freezes on

The Big List of Steam Games on GNU/Linux, the wiki!
Hello everyone! I've spent the last couple of months working on a wiki that contains what the thread title says: a list of Steam games that are either native to GNU/Linux or are runnable in Wine, categorized by their AppDB rankings. A bunch of people at the Steam forums have been working on it, but it looks like a lot of people here use Steam to get their games, so it seemed to make sense to

Steam Client : get terminal output from games
Just a quickie question... Could someone remind me how I attach my console output to a game being run through the Steam client? Otherwise I think I am just seeing the output from the Steam client itself - right? I am trying to troubleshoot launching Bioshock 1 and I don't have a retail copy of the game to try out... Thanks 8) Bob

What are the free games that I can play with Steam?
I have just managed to install Steam client application (Build: 16 Sep 2010 13:37:56; Steam API: v009; Steam package versions: 62 / 1374) with my shiny new Wine 1.3.2, which has been compiled with Alexander Morozov's patches for USB device support. The older Wine-1.1.23 that came with Fedora 11 x86_64 Linux has been uninstalled prior to installing Wine 1.3.2 from the Git source tree. May

CS:S and other steam games won't start
My Steam install under wine seems to be in a rather strange state. I was only playing a couple of Valve games (TF2, CS:S), and I decided to add Left 4 Dead 2 to the mix, which worked fine. However, every other Steam game I had then stopped working. For example, I start CS:S and I get the "preparing to start game...." box, and nothing happens; same sequence with my other steam games.

Steam Games/Full Screen/No Keyboard???
Steam Games/Full Screen/No Keyboard??? Hi, There is a major problem running Valve Steam client games in full screen under current 1.3.8 Wine 32bits. The problem is simple, but may be difficult to fix. I run Steam client and then run a game (example CoD:Black Ops) Game runs fine in full screen mode, but the keyboard does not work? The problem is with Valve's Steam client stealing the

[1.3.13]-Valve's STEAM Games Do Not Work...
[1.3.13]-Valve's STEAM Games Do Not Work... Hi, I've mentioned this several times already and did not receive a response. (either it will be fixed or some work-around) I can't play many games when using Valve's STEAM client under current Wine 1.3.13 32bit using Ubuntu 10.10 64bit. If I run Wine full screen and run a game from STEAM I can't get the keyboard working (have to

Can't install Steam games with 1.1.8 and 1.1.9
I've installed wine 1.1.8 after a fresh installation of ubuntu intrepid, and while steam downloads and installs properly, when I go to my games list and select a game to install wine just quits. 1.1.9 was just released a short while ago, I was hoping it would fix it, but I'm still stuck. Help please I'm kinda new to this.
