incoming calls fall into echo test mode
Hello all, Weird trouble here: we have 60-some happy subscribers on a FreePBX box, each with its own phone number, with no problem at all, except for one (and only one) subscriber who has this problem: his outgoing calls are ok, but when someone dials his phone number (be it from our network or from any other place in the world), the caller ears the standard message signalling he has entered the

Big time system
We are an asterisk user... small time system 50-100 users or so. But, we have an opportunity to get into a big time telecom activity. It would have 2000 to 30,000 user lines per city, and we would like to have those brought back to a central location for control and because transport can be more economical than remote site rentals, maintenance and personnel. We could take the local lines into

CentOS 7 1708 won't boot after grub2 update
Hi all, This is the third fresh install of CentOS 7 1708 the last two months that won't boot after a regular "yum update" just after the fresh install has finished. I've never had this problem before, it has just worked. The installs are on OEM's that have previously run CentOS 6.9 x64. Am I missing something here? -- BW, Sorin

Just delete that index
I get a few messages of this ilk each day: Dec 16 01:56:31 aurora dovecot: IMAP(doug): Corrupted index cache file /home/doug/Maildir/.users.joe/dovecot.index.cache: indexid changed I usually address this by deleting dovecot.* in the directory of issue. I was thinking that I could instead just have the server delete these files and attempt to recreate them, and skipping that error message

data compression in a package
The submission guide has the following cryptic (to me) sentence: ?? "Reasonable compression should be used for data (not just .rda files) " The survival pacakge has a fairly large number of data files --- exactly what should I be doing??? xz compression? Terry T.

Question: Using Windows XP under Linux?
I'm curious about the feasability and possibility of using Wine as a basis for running as much MS code under Linux as possible. Let me explain: Windows XP (and most of it's ilk before it) don't support remote booting, that is using a diskless workstation and booting the OS from the network. Linux, of course readily provides that functionality. However, switching to linux is not

using ddply but preserving some of the outside data
I have a bit of a quandy. I'm working with a data set for which I have sampled sites at a variety of dates. I want to use this data, and get a running average of the sampled values for the current and previous date. I originally thought something like ddply would be ideal for this, however, I cannot break up my data by date, and then apply a function that requires information

Is DTrace Vulnerable?

status of US mirror
When I try to go to http://cran.us.r-project.org I get sent to a location called "domains 4 sale" or something of that ilk, indicating that some "URL scavenger" has flagged it as expired. Has something happened, or is it just wishful thinking on some scavenger's part that the URL is no longer pointing to the US CRAN mirror? Try this link:

Asterisk and Sheeva "wall wart".
Hey, all. I'm seriously thinking about doing the VoIP thing at home. The perfect platform seemed to be the Sheeva "wall wart" (http://www.marvell.com/products/embedded_processors/developer/kirkwood/sheevaplug.jsp). It's a cute little doohicky with USB, SD-card, Ethernet, and runs on an ARM CPU. I'd like to avoid SIP to my provider, just 'cause it's always such a

[OT] FreePBX + Trunk over VPN + Local LAN
Hello, First let me apologize for posting about a GUI topic on here. There's a reason why I did that, and it's because the underlying concept of this is connected to Asterisk. Here's my situation: Twenty wifi clients connecting to our wireless router (Cisco Linksys E4200 loaded with Tomato). All these WiFi clients are running eyeBeam (in case you're wondering where the calls come

R doesn't use all available memory
Hi, I'm running R 1.5.1 under Solaris 5.8 (i86), 2GB physical RAM. R can't run memory intensive jobs even though the system reports plenty of free memory: R seems to refuse to take more than about 800Mb even though there is apparently about 950Mb still free - not to mention swap space. I've tried changing mem.limits() etc. with no effect. The result is an error of the ilk

LDAP and Linux compatibility
Please excuse a wee bit of cross posting here. It seems that the questions list may not be the appropriate place for this as I've found a number of unanswered posts involving this topic. My FreeBSD workstations are setup with pam_ldap to a centralized openldap server for authentication. This works perfectly for native FreeBSD applications. What I'm running into an issue with are Linux

visualizing transition probability matrices
Dear List, I have a couple of (~200) 3x3 transition probability matrices (ie each defines a Markov chain). They are all estimated from the same underlying process, so it ie meaningful to take their elemetwise mean and standard deviation. [1] First question: supposing that they are given in a list l, how do I get their elementwise mean and standard deviation? Fortunately, the mean of trans. prob.

How to resell my trunk/provider to others?
Hello, I've been tasked to look for ways to resell to others the service that one of a trunk provides.. In other words, i want to configure my current Asterisk (Ver. 1.4.26.1) with Freepbx 2.6.0 so i can act as a trunk to others.. I would provide an IP to them from one of my servers and they will use that IP to connect to me and i will connect them to my trunk/provider. If

What is confusing me is the output of samba-tool domain level show Forest function level: (Windows) 2003 Domain function level: (Windows) 2003 Lowest function level of a DC: (Windows) 2008 R2 I thought it might of been because rfc2307 schema included was of 2008r2 ilk.
