FW: Polycom 501 issue with latest firmware : sluggish keys
Somebody was helpful enough to give me the very latest release of Polycom's
firmware (2.1.0). Unfortunately, I still get that issue.
So I'm stuck asking again: Anybody ever got that?

Polycom 501 sluggish keys: found the problem!
Here is what I had to change on the phone1.cfg file:
I had this value in my 1.6.7 file, put in there following suggestions from
the Wiki
(http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/index.php?page=Polycom+Soundpoint+IP+501) :
reg.1.server.1.expires="30"
Now, this worked flawlessly with 1.6.7. But with 2.x, this seizes up the
phone with a huge CPU load (approaching 100% at times) and makes it

Polycom 501 issue with latest firmware : sluggish keys
Hi,
I've upgraded a few Polycom 501 to SIP 2.0.3b (can't get 2.1.0 because of
Polycom's firmware policy, but this is the "latest publicly available" from
Polycom's web site).
I've noticed that some keys get "sticky" though. Soft buttons for example
(i.e. "end call") need to be pressed 2-3 times for them to react. I've

Polycom 501 Phones Rebooting
Hello,
At one of our locations, we have started to see Polycom 501s
(running 1.6.7 firmware) randomly reboot. We have taken packet traces of the
phones to determine if there is something odd in the Layer 2 or 3 of the
network that might cause it, and have not seen anything strange. There are
no errors on the ports. This appears to be affecting POE powered as well as
AC powered phones. The Polycom

"Sticky" Polycom 501 keys and handset
Hi,
I've recently bought new Polycom 501 phones, upgraded to bootrom 3.2.2 and
SIP 2.0.1. I just noticed something, which I first blamed on Asterisk and
NATs (a 2 second silence at the beginning of a call). Something I've
noticed also on my old phone (which is having the same problem now, but its
also been upgraded).
My keys are sticky. Simple as that. Sometimes I press a number

Asterisk 1.2.7.1 with Polycom 501 on SIP -> Conf Calling
I have one extension setup for each Polycom 501 I have, and when I try
to call out on a conference call, I get "all circuits busy" for the
second call. I have one sip trunk set up for each DID that I have
through our VoIP provider. Each trunk is capable of having one call
placed on it at one time. So, I'm thinking I need a way to tell
Asterisk to have the second call go out

Polycom 430 , 501 and 550
Hi List;
Can someone advise me if Polycom support H323 that
work fine with Asterisk? And wether this H323 Polcyom
devices more costly than SIP Polycom.
Also, I am not able to know if new Polycom come with
PoE adaptor so no need for PoE Switch (can use normal
switch that does not support PoE)? Do I need any
special cable for Polycom or normal Ethernet cable?

Remote employees using Polycom 501 lose
The Polycom's need to have their registration time lowered. Set it to 60 seconds which will re-register every 30 seconds. The polycom doesn't have any sort of 'keep alive' feature to keep the NAT holes open. There is information on the wiki fruther describing this and how to set it up if you don't know where to look.

Polycom and Asterisk
I was previously having an issue with a Polycom phone and Polycom support
said that Asterisk didn't play well with Polycom firmware versions 1.6.7 and
newer due to SIP compatibility issues. I believe I heard a lot of things
were fixed\adjusted in 1.4 and was wondering if anyone has had success with
Asterisk 1.4 and the latest Polycom firmware releases.

If I recall, using the Polycom transfer, you have to make sure it is done as
a blind transfer. The Polycom attended transfer (default) option does not
work.

Echo while using Headset with Polycom IP 501 / 601 Asterisk 1.2.1
I'm hearing an echo when using a headset with my IP 501 / 601. The
phones are using BR 3.1.2 and SIP 1.6.3. I use tftp to configure the
phones. The sip.cfg is the default from polycom except for the
parameters required to connect the phones to asterisk.
I have absolutly no echo with the handset, but do have a slight echo on
the speaker phone. I haven't ruled out room acoustics as the

Polycom power over ethernet (PoE) cables for 500/501, 600/601 and 650 sets
Hi, folks:
I just took delivery of new PoE cables (PN 2200-11077-002) for our
Polycom phones here in the office.
I have the following to report, for the erudition of existing Polycom
users and those considering purchasing Polycom sets from the set of
models noted in the subject:
1. The cables do indeed work (hooray).
2. The cable has a module on it about a third of the way from a female
end.

Polycom 501 logo onscreen
Anyone know how (or if it's possible) to get a logo on the screen of
a Polycom 501?
I've been looking around for hints on how to do it but so far nothing
would indicate Polycom supports doing it.

Polycom 501 issues
I am having a couple of (unrelated) problems with my polycom 501.
1. The buddy watch is just not working. It tells me that everyone is
online, whether or not they are.
Here is an example directory entry for one of the peers (whose phone is
not registered).

Polycom 501 + Asterisk +Edit buttons
Hey All,
This is more a polycom question, but involves how to make it
specifically interact with asterisk...
I have setup a special extension in asterisk which toggles whether our
"Night Service" is turned on. However, I would like to have 2 things
happen on our Polycom 501 (or 601)s. Where there are buttons which say
"New Call" and "Forward", I would like to add a

Polycom 501 Multiple Line Instances
I tried following the Wiki page regarding the Polycom 501 and having the
same extension appear on all 3 line buttons (just like my cisco) but I'm
having no luck.
Has anyone else had success in doing this? Perhaps someone who has been
successful can update the wiki?
Thanks,
Matthew

Polycom SIP 501 Transfer Question
I know this is not a Polycom support forum, but I also know there are a lot
of you with a great deal of Polycom experience.
Is there anyway to remove the "Attended Transfer" but keep the "Blind
transfer"? Or better yet, just swap the two soft buttons locations?
I know you can remap the "Hard" buttons, but what about the soft buttons?
The reason I need this is my

[SPAM] - Looking for Wireless Heaset for Polycom 501 - Email found in subject
I like the Plantronics CS55/HL10, it's a DECT Wireless boom headset with
a lifter kit for the phone, works like a charm, great range.
