Powering SNOM 200 phones?
Ok, not exactly an Asterisk problem, but...
I picked up some SNOM 200 phones because SNOM's have been recommended for use
with Asterisk and they have line buttons that can subscribe to presence.
However, they don't appear to power up when connected to my Negear FS108P,
which is an 802.3af Power-over-ethernet capable hub. I am pretty sure
these are the SNOM 200b, in that the ethernet

Slightly OT: SNOM & PoE
Hello All,
I apologize for the slightly off-topic question, but I'm sure that the
people best acquainted with the issue would be hanging around here.
We recently deployed several Linksys POE switches for some smaller customers
(10-24 station) and appear to be suffering from intermittent lock-ups of the
SNOM phones attached.
Obviously we are running Asterisk for the gateway, but I was

Agents, queues and Pentalties
List,
I've got 2 queues with 10 agents in both queues. One of the agents is mainly responsible for queue_1, and the others mainly for queue_2 so i've
defined the following in my queues.conf
[queue_1]
strategy=ringall
member=>Agent/1,2
member=>Agent/2,1
member=>Agent/3,1
member=>Agent/4,1
[queue_2]

Snom 360 NOTIFY syntax
I'm rolling out an installation with snom 360s in the near future.
Simple SOHO configuration, 3 FXOs hanging off a TDM400B, 4 snom 360s, a
snom 200, some variant of IAX softphone, and an IAXy or Sipura 2002. I
have the 360's set up to subscribe and notify for the line use lights,
which works like a charm for interoffice calling (between the 360's,
anyway. The IAXy, 200 and,

hints and the sNOM 360
Hi
I am trying to get a SNOM 360 to monitor other extensions i.e. when someone
makes a call to/from another extension, one of the LED's on the SNOM 360 will
change state. I am using 1.0.9/bristuff-8l.
I have 2 extensions - 2001 is a SNOM 190, 2002 is a 360 - both are running
the latest firmware. (3.60i for 190, 4.0 for 360). I have read all the
relevant articles on the wiki on

changing displayed call info on snom 360
Several of my SIP users are in the habit of diverting all their calls to
an assistant when they're out of the office. When these calls ring on
the assistant's phone, she wants to be able to tell which number they've
been forwarded from so that she can say "Joe Blow's phone" or whatever
when she picks up the call. The assistant's phone is a snom 360, which

OT:Snom 360 prompt for registration pwd?
I have a whack of Snom 360's. Occasionally, *some* of them, prompt the user,
on the screen, for the registration password. You enter it, everything's OK.
Next day, same thing. This is like on 5 or 6 phones out of a lot of 120.
It's *always* the same phones. I haven't drilled down to things like
firmware rev yet, since I ordered them all as one lot, but I'm wondering if

Call Parking is slow with park orbit on Snom 3xx / 360
Hi List,
I have a client who is using park heavily, but once we hit the cal button
(in this a hotkey tied to park orbit on the Snom's), we have a 3 second
delay before we here the digit the call is parked on. Is their anyway around
this at all? Does anyone know if we have these same delays if using the DTMF
digits?
Any suggestions would be great!
Thanks!

Regression lines for differently-sized groups on the same plot
Hi there,
I've looked through the very helpful advice about adding fitted lines to
plots in the r-help archive, and can't find a post where someone has offered
a solution for my specific problem. I need to plot logistic regression fits
from three differently-sized data subsets on a plot of the entire dataset.
A description and code are below:
I have an unbalanced dataset

Strange Fromuser behavior?
Strange things are happening at my asterisk box :)
I've got asterisk setup to dail out with sip to my SIP provider.
I've got NO fromuser/fromdomain stuff setup in my sip.conf
When I place a call with my Siemens Optipoint 400 SIP phone everything is
allright, the From: header is stating the username of the Siemens phone.
When I place a call with X-Lite the From: header is altered and reads

Can't hear playtones?
Hello,
I would like the dialing party to know what happened to the call, since
asterisk doesn't relay a sip error back to the originating sip channel
(would be nice, a if (org_channel = sip && dst_channel = sip, relay error to
sip client) I want to set up audio feedback on the call status.
I've changed the county setting to NL in indications.conf and created this

Call back when no longer busy
Hello, I'm trying to implement a function available on the PSTN net here, if
you dial a number which is busy and you press 5, you will be called back
when the busy party hangs up.
Figuring out if a SIP user is busy isn't to hard, ${DIALSTATUS} produces a
BUSY message, however, how can I implement the call back?
IE, I dial to extension 712, but that extension is busy, I dial 5 and

If one would like to build a redundant Asterisk setup, would it be possible
to exchange the locationdb for the SIP users between then?
IE, the following setup:

Asterisk is used as a PABX in this setup, so the

Polycom Power
I have a 501 with traditional power and a 301 with PoE. I rightfully assumed
that the traditional power from the 501 would work on the 301.
How do I get the PoE to work? Do I use the Polycom PoE cable in addition to
whatever PoE injection method I use? I have a Cisco PoE injector that works
on my Cisco AP350 and my 7960. No combination of this injector, the Polycom
cable, and the phone result in

Snom firmwares suck <--additional datapoint to consider
We have a large install of 360's running rev 4.1 with zero problems. I did
another, smaller install couple weeks ago with 40 360's running rev 5.3. In
both cases, the install was identical, same Asterisk version, same dialplan,
everything the same except the differences were:
1. Different firmware rev
2. Different physical LAN
Guess what? On the smaller install, lockups and reboots.

Power Over Ethernet for *any* ethernet switch(or hub); product idea
PoE, or 802.3af, uses a device detection routine to determine if the
connected device needs power.
The process, in greatly simplified terms, is as follows:
1. Detect link state
2. Send a pulse of a known frequency and intensity over the
TX/RX pairs
3. Listen for reflection.
3a. No reflection- provide power
3b. Reflection- no power
Devices that comply with 802.3af have filters designed

Netgear FS116P and Cisco 79XX phones
I am hoping that someone has had better luck with this than I have.
I would like to connect Cisco 7940s and 7960s to the Netgear FS116P, and
take advantage of its POE. I know that the Cisco phones use Cisco's
"pre-standard" POE implementation, but as I understand it the difference is
really only two pins.
I bought a bunch of PowerDsine inline power adapters which supposedly change
