skype and SIP hardware for linux
I'm looking at the <http://support.a-link.com/phonemate/IPU1.htm> phone because it works with Skype (from Linux), but can do SIP, too. Not necessarily asterisk related, but possibly. My networking situation might require IAX if I'm running Linux and want to use SIP, I'm not certain (Skype works fine). Putting that unknown aside for the moment, how does this phone work under

AGI script fails on IAX channels (from call file).
Hi Guys, I have already tried this one on the developers list. I have not been successful getting much back there and I have notified them that I will post this on the users list instead. Hopefully somebody have tried something similar and can help out. I am developing AGI scripts on Asterisk and have run into some very strange behaviour and I think this is a bug, but I am not completely sure.

InfoWeek Article on VOIP
Here's t link: http://www.informationweek.com/story/showArticle.jhtml;jsessionid=JUEFVG ENEA01YQSNDBCCKH0CJUMEKJVN?articleID=165702588 The bottom line is that they compare retail VOIP providers like Comcast Cable, Time-Warner Cable, AT&T, Vonage, Packet8 et al. Their methodology seems sound. Their conclusion is that retail VOIP services don't yet match the PSTN for reliability &

Cingular/ATT killing my IMAP/POP connections with bad TCP FIN packets?
Hello all, I've got an issue I'm almost positive is not related to Dovecot, but was wondering whether anyone else has had similar problems or could duplicate my results. Please accept my apologies if this is considered off-topic or this issue is actually just a symptom of my own ignorance. Also, sorry for how long this email got, I knew I wouldn't be able to explain my issue in

passing through MWI info from SBC
Hi.. I am about to replace my aging Nortel Venture system with an Asterisk system and 6 Polycom IP 501 phones, and a couple sipura 841's for less used areas. We have 3 phone lines here. One is SBC, one Vonage, and one Voipjet... One hangup is that I can't figure out how to pass through a voicemail waiting indication from SBC. This is important because my wife and her family all

More jitter buffer questions
I've been trying to resolve some quality issues and I was hoping someone might be able to provide some insight. To give you an idea the calls are coming in via a SIP DID and sent out via an IAX2 connection. Latency to both the SIP equipment and IAX equipment are around 80ms with 0 packet loss accoridng to ping tests. The server is located in a data centre so bandwidth is not an issue. Most

SIP-SIP transfer via the REFER/NOTIFY method
Could anyone help me set up Asterisk in such a way that it makes SIP-SIP transfers using the REFER / NOTIFY method according to RFC-3515 ? SCANARIO: - Asterisk registers with PSTN<->SIP VoIP provider "V" (Vonage) as a friend - Asterisk is located in Europe, Vonage in located US. - Asterisk acts as an autoattendant located in Europe. - Asterisk answers and incoming call from

Configure Voipjet.com content in Asterisk
Hi, I am Chandramouli from India. I have successfully implemented Intercom (Dialling within my office LAN) and Voicemail features using Asterisk. To implement this, I am using X-Lite Softphone. Now, I wish to make calls to US using VoIP Asterisk. I dont think I need any external hardware to implement pure VoIP solution. Here I am sending my configuration file values: Contents of

Re: teliax [Was: LiveVoip is Bankrupt]
So far my experience with TOS has been that most of them are pretty odd. No one wants the liability of a stock trade gone foul or a call to the doctor that gets disconnected. Essentially, those things in the TOS are just a CYA. They are un-enforced but should someone decide to attempt to sue based upon a financial loss, the ITSP is covered. So, yep. That is weird but not unexpected. Heaven

Asterisk with Vonage problems
Does anyone currently use Vonage with Asterisk? I've tried to set it up but it looks like Asterisk (at least the version that I have) does not handle well the SIP call dialog, sending a BYE with the wrong tag. As a result, when I hang up, Vonage sends back a 400 Bad Request and the call on the PSTN side does not hang up. I know that Vonage does a lot of nasty stuff which impacts UA's

missing cdr records
I am experiencing a very wired problem. Some of my cdr are lost. I use logging cdr to csv, mysql and odbc. But some of them are lost. They miss in csv mysql and odbc, so i'm pretty sure it is related to asterisk functioning. I am running asterisk 1.0.7; this is simple configuration file: extensions.conf [general] static=yes writeprotect=no [macro-gw-voipjet] exten =>

VoipJet TOS (was Teliax and also LiveVoip)
One would assume they have better things to do as they are quite busy. I think this is just a proactive measure meaning they say you cannot do it upfront so that in the event of a problem, it was predeclared. As to the rest of the TOS, I could be wrong but I got the impression that the owner of VoipJet speaks English as a second language due to some email exchanges. If that is the case, the TOS
