So you all think VoIP sypply is warm and fuzzy
Here is a letter I sent them for my $150 paper weight. Dear Voipsupply, As a small service provider, using you company for the first time, I'm very disappointed that you have removed the configuration CD that should have been shipped with the Mediatrix 2102 just to get a few more bucks. I have contacted mediatrix and they have informed me that the CD's is shipped in every 2102. If I

T.38 ATA
Hello all ! Can anyone recommend me ATA device that REALLY has T.38 built in. So far I have heard of Telco Systems Access201, which seems to be impossible to bye in Europe (all resselers are droped Telco systems ATAs for some reason (tried in Germany and in UK so far)), and I have heard that SIPURA SPA-2100 should have T.38 built in into newer firmware, but I wasn't able to confirm that

Asterisk 1.6 T38 to G711 transcoding is this possible?
The scenario we have is fax send/recieve software that ONLY talks T38 and an asterisk box. We have ITSP providers that do NOT talk T38 but G711 only. Does asterisk have the capability to take the T38 call from an ATA or T38 software then bridge/transcode it and do G711 out to the PSTN providers? If not is there another product PAID or FREE software or hardware that can do this easily and

Asterisk and T38 Fax
How can I get asterisk to work with faxes in my configuration? I have a WAN with Asterisk at the centre and Mediatrix 1104 gateways at the end nodes providing tone to legacy PBX's and fax machines. The Asterisk is connected to the PSTN via a Digium single port t1. The end nodes are connected via frame-relay 128kbps links. I want to use g.729 between the end nodes and the Asterisk box at

How does Vonage support fax machines?
My boss is insisting we support fax, and I keep telling him that Fax over IP is very unreliable and not recommended and his immediate come-back is "Vonage does it." and it's very hard to figure out how. I don't think Vonage does T.38, the Linksys/Sipura units they're using doesn't support T.38 to my knowledge. That means they have to be using G.711Ulaw to send faxes.

fax / t38 gateway
I'm trying to figure out how to handle our fax line when we switch to our asterisk for voice. After a lot of reading and poking about I have concluded, as have many others it would seem, that the best thing to do is either to have a separate pstn fax line or use some sort of internet faxing service rather than try and make faxing work in a way it's not meant to over voip lines.

Low handset microphone volume with Sipura SPA-841
I have just bought several Sipura SPA-841 SIP phones, and after some testing I have found out that the volume received by other parties when calling using the handset is very low. I've been able to reproduce this problem in the 3 phones I've tested so far. I've tried tweaking several configuration options but nothing I has helped so far. Has anybody else experienced this problem?

Unable to get Fax t38 working with IrisTel trunk
Hi everyone, I have been trying to get T.38 Faxing to work with Iristel sip trunks for last few days but havn't been sccussful. I am using Asterisk 1.6.2.8 and SpanDSP 0.6. Here is what I see in the tcpdump capture: 1. Call come in from the trunk as regular voice call with g.711 codec 2. Asterisk answers the call and recognizes the CNG and sends the call to fax extension 3. Eventually

Digium FFA + Gafachi T38 outgoing issues
Hi, folks. I'm having a heck of a time trying to get outgoing T38 faxing (I don't need inbound right now) working with FFA and Gafachi. G711 faxing works (as well as can be expected over the internet), but I want the higher reliability of T38. I'm running Asterisk 10-beta1. When I drop my callfile in to make the call, I get this: -- Attempting call on SIP/18884732963 at

Re: So you all think VoIP sypply is warm andfuzzy
After an extensive conversation with Mediatrx 's sales department , I stand corrected and so does the salesman who spoke to me. My apologies to Voip Supply. I understand now you never knew about the CD. Development news :: T38 passthrough support
Friends in the Asterisk.org community, There is a lot of cool stuff going on in Asterisk development, things that will change Asterisk and make it work better in your organisation, make it easier to sell in your area or give you more consulting oppurtunities - in short, functionality that will make a lot of sense for you users. Asterisk as H323 gateway
Is there anyone who is currently using Asterisk as a production H323 gateway? And using which combination of asterisk and H323 (chan_h323, chan_oh323?) The main issue is interoperability with other H323 parties (Cisco AS53xx, Nextone, etc). Searching the mailing list it seems that both h323 and oh323 are not so stable, is it only an impression or using h323 is really not so advisable?

No ringback tone generated by Asterisk with OH323 connections
I am using Asterisk (Debian unstable packages) with an OH323 connection to my provider. Everything is working except for the generation of ringback tones when I receive inbound calls from the PSTN. My provider tells me that we're sending call progress indications and that because of this they're expecting us to generate the ringback tone. Does anybody know how to configure this in

Public phone
A client wants to put phones in a semi-public place, using a Calling Card solution. What kind of hardware is suitable? I'm looking for a wall mounted booth, a SIP phone that can't easily be broken, but I might just use cheap analog phones and a channel bank. What do you suggest for the calling card software? This installation will be outside the US. -- Chris Mason NetConcepts (264)
