Snom firmwares suck
Most people seem quite positive about Snom phones, I cannot share this
opinion.
The displays are dying quite often, and firmware is buggy. I have tried
every firmware from 4.5 up to 5.x and 6.04 but keep having problems with
phones locking up or rebooting during an ongoing conversation.
REALLY annoying for a phone that is advertised / targeted as a business
class phone

Difference between Snom 190 & Elmeg 290?
Hi list!
While looking for the Snom 190 I found another phone, the Elmeg IP 290
(www.elmeg.de).
Looking at the pictures & the specs they seem to be very similar beasts
but the firmware is supposedly not interchangeable.
Does anyone know the difference between the 2, do they work with Asterisk?
The weird thing is that Elmeg has similar phones with the Snom look but
they are ISDN only (no

Sip phones how to dial a # sign?
Hi list!
I have some sip phones and Sipura ATA 2000's. However after dialling a
number I need to dial a # to control a device.
When I dial # Asterisk kicks in and puts the call on hold. How can I
change this?
Thx!!

Snom Phones Volume
Good Day List,
I have several different SIP Phones running on my asterisk box.
I have recently purchased a snom 190 and a snom 220.
They work great, EXCEPT I have to have the volume turned all the
way up in order to hear the conversation on the other end.
All the other phones Zultys 4x5, 4x4, 2x2, Cisco 7960, Wooksung
2000... all behave fine and volume is set to middle of the range and I

Snom programmable leds / keys usage for pickup groups?
Would it be possible to use the programmable led+keys on the Snom phones
to signal that there is an incoming call that is ringing a call group or
pickup group?
We use this on our existing PBX if for example the accounting dept. is out
for lunch but nobody can hear their phones. This way you can see an
incoming call (and we hate voicemail) :)
Thanks!

Busy Lamp Field SIP Phone
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good SIP phone with a busy lamp
field? I need my operator to be able to see extension status for about
20 extensions and transfer via HOLD + extension button. I've got a pair
of SNOM 360s with the sidecar, but I'm very disappointed with them. The
buttons are cheap and rubbery like a Sipura 841, the handset cord is
short and cheap, the audio quality

Strange Call waiting problems - SNOM 200 & Grandstream Budgetone
Hi
I am setting up an Asterisk System in an office environment, Incoming and
Outgoing calls are working ok, but i am having a few strange problems
regarding call waiting.
With the SNOM 200 (firmware 2.02t) phones, if you are on a call and a 2nd call
comes in, the call waiting beep is played and the light flashes, but if you
hang up the 1st call, instead of the phone ringing, it connects the

OT: Using Sipsak to reboot a Snom phone < -a nswered my own question
Forgot on the Snom 200 it won't reboot if under the Memory tab in the web
interface, Connections > 0 then remote reboot is not possible. Manually
cycling the power allows the phone to be rebooted by Sipsak remotely.
HOWTO: Reboot a Snom with Sipsak
Checklist:
1. Under Advanced in the web interface, is Network Identity set to 5060?
2. Under Advanced in the web interface, is Challenge for

SNOM Red LED on DND or unregistered Phone
Hello,
I have BLF working on Snom phones. Ringing state (blinking) or "on the
phone" state (solid) are working well. So the buttons are configured as
"BLF" in the Snom webinterface.
Now I would like to add another state for unavailable or dnd. In fact I
would like to turn the LED red in the case the phone is not registered
or the user pushed the DND button.
So I though

controlling SIP subscriptions from SNOM phones
We recently deployed 10 SNOMs as part of a PBX hosted solution. We have one
phone setup as the receptionist phone, using hints to show busy office
lines. This all works as expected.
This is a new installation, and people are just starting to setup their
phones. For those of you not familiar with SNOM phones, there is a row of
keys on the right side of the phone which SNOM calls function keys. In

OT: Using Sipsak to reboot a Snom phone
I have a custom sip reboot message I am transmitting to a Snom 200 to reboot
it. The Snom gets it, it says "200 OK" but it doesn't reboot. I have turned
off the challenge-reboot option in the Snom. When I modify the "Event:"
directive from "reboot" to "snom-reboot" the phone yields "Bad Event" and
when it is just "reboot" the phone

Snom 220 busy lamps [was: Receptionist phone...]
I am so far unable to get the busy lamps on a Snom 220 to work either with
current cvs or asterisk 1.0.
I am using the hint extension and the Snom 220 just as described in the
"mini-howto" on:

Best VPN server for * and woad warriors using windows?
Hi list!
I'm sure the topic has been discussed but I could not find what I was
looking for.
What would be the best / easiest VPN software solution. I would like to
install vpn software on the * server for roadwarriors to connect to with
laptops running windows. Ideally the vpn solution will not require any
additional software on the client side but will use IPSEC.

OT - snom phone question
Sorry - this is a bit off topic, but there is almost certainly someone
here who will know the answer... Perhaps even a snom employee :)
In recent snom firmware releases, the following sequence always causes
a call to be sent from line 'n'
Receive call on Line 'n' (where n > 1)
Press Hold
Dial new call
The new call originates on Line 'n'
In older firmware

Echo after upgrade * 1.05 -> 1.06
Hi list!
I have a strange echo problem. Two days ago I setup * 1.0.6. at a friend
of mine. Just an * server and for outbound calls wengo.fr was used to
place calls via sip. He had a strange echo on the line I didn't
experience on my setup.
Today I upgraded my asterisk 1.0.5 to 1.0.6 and suddenly I have an echo
too on sip calls thru wengo!!
I already verified wengo was not the source of

Vmail & Snom 190s
Hi all,
I got a couple of Snom 190's through this week and after some initial
foolishness I have them both setup no problems.
But here comes the except.
When there is voicemail waiting the softbutton appears but the phone
always dials its own extension. No matter what I put into the "mailbox"
parameter on the line settings. (Phone registers correctly with * and
all standard
