Cisco 7940 Sip Firmware
Hi all, a cheeky request and one that will probably not meet with much response but I may as well ask! I've just recieved my Cisco 7940 and am after upgrading it to the SIP firmware. I don't (yet) have a support contract and thus can't download the firmware image from the Cisco site. I will be getting a support contract as soon as my reseller sorts it for me but had quite wanted

Cisco contract for 7940/7960 firmware access
Maybe not the place for this but thought I'd post the info for others. I purchased a cisco 7960 off ebay and needed to convert to SIP for *. I know * supports SCCP but I wont go into that here. I'd read on voip-info.org that a contract could be purchased for approx $8 to allow me to download the firmware. I though, being in the UK, i'd get one through a reseller in the UK.

Cisco 79xx firmware
I have several Cisco 79xx phones (7905, 7920, 7940, 7960, 7970, ATA 186) and I need to buy firmware for them. I have contacted http://www.cdw.com and http://www.insight.com/ but they didn't respond. Can anybody tell me where can I buy SCCP and SIP firmware for my phones? BTW, I'm in Croatia (Hrvatska). I heard that location does matter. P.S. My local Cisco reseller wants to sell me

Cisco 7905G SIP firmware needed
To get the SIP firmware for these phones, you need to buy a Cisco SmartNet support contract (about $75 USD in the USA, though I've heard rumors a Europe-only contract exists for about $10 USD.) You can purchase one through most Cisco resellers. That will give you access to Cisco's download site. Configuration of these phones under SIP is not quite as straight forward as it is with SCCP,

Cisco 7961 new firmware stops reading configuration files
Hello, I have been running SIP41.8-2-2SR4S firmware on the Cisco 7961 and have recently upgraded to SIP41.8-3-2SR1S to add the DND button on the front of the phone and also to hopefully resolve some issues with the phones not registering after a long period. Once we upgraded the phones now display "Error Verifying Config Info" in the Status messages and will not process the

Cisco Support for 7940, Is this Right?
Hi all, Happy Wednesday! Got a 7940G off eBay to tinker with and, per the wiki, contacted Cisco about a service contract. Being just little ol' me, they won't deal directly and blew me off (I hate dealing with Cisco, Nortel, etc as a small-business person...) Again per the wiki, I hit CDW.com and found CON-SNT-CP7960 for $9.14. Looking for support for the 7940 (not 7960), I just

Cisco 7960 And Firmware Upgrades
Hi all! I have a new Cisco 7960 that I am testing out with asterisk, but it is currently loaded with the CallManager firmware. The reseller has sent me the latest SIP firmware files to load onto the phone, but as is mentioned in the Cisco FAQ entry for converting a CallManager phone to SIP, there is a bug in the firmware presently on my phone which prevents it from being upgraded straight to

Cisco 7.2 firmware for SIP 7940/7960 released
Hi All, Just a heads up - I was looking around the Cisco FTP a little while ago and noticed that the SIP 7.2 images for Cisco IP Phone 7940/7960 were released yesterday (16th August). No new features - all bug fixes according to the release notes. I've already started using it. I thought those of you running the Cisco phones and the appropriate access who didn't yet know would like to

Cisco 7940 Firmware 8.2
Greetings, I am cutting my teeth with SIP phones and my first issue is getting a Cisco 7940 to Authenticate with my VoIP provider (BBTelsys). I did read some notes on the vo-ip website about 7.5 being the better firmware version. Has anyone had trouble with 8.2 and SIP registering? Should I just downgrade to 7.5 and give it a go? I think SIP uses UDP 5060 correct? The phone is behind a

cisco 7940 firmware upgrade
I have been trying for sometime to upgrade this phone to either sip, or the latest sccp (at this point I don't care) with no success. It has an sccp image (don't know the version off the top of my head) that is incompatible with chan_sccp. When I boot up the phone, it asks the tfpt server for the .tlv file, then the SEP<mac> file which it receives successfully. It then asks for

Repost: Can't connect to my smb share from Win machine
Hello list, could somebody please point me to the information (tutorial) how to configure this properly, or where is the problem? I need to access the share without authentication (it's an isolated home network)... It used to work on FC3 but I can't figure it out on FC6 :-( By the way, there's a typo in the original post: the windows machine is W98 not 95. thanks Marek --- Marc

Problem transferring calls between Cisco 7940 with SIP firmware
Hi all, I'm having a strange problem with a bunch of cisco 7940G with SIP firmware. The problem arises when transferring a call coming in from a SIP account to another phone. The call connects, but for the first 10 seconds there is a situation with one-way audio, then it turns into a fully working call. I've googled extensively, but couldn't find much about this situation. The

Calls being dropped - Cisco 7940 with SIP 8.12 image
Hi everyone, I hope someone can help me with a problem I'm having with Cisco 7940 phones on the SIP 8.12 image. When I place a call from one of the handsets, the call proceeds as normal for 20 seconds and is then terminated by Asterisk (1.4.26.2): [Oct 3 10:08:55] WARNING[1650]: chan_sip.c:1981 retrans_pkt: Maximum retries exceeded on transmission 00215553-

Cisco 7940 -60 firmware upgrades
This for the archives in case it may help someone: I was able to upgrade two Cisco 7940's from firmware P0030301MFG2 to SIP 7.1 as follows: 1. Installed 7.1 images from the Cisco zip file to the TFTP server. 2. Specified "image_version: P0S3-07-1-00" in SIP<MAC>.cnf and SIPDefault.cnf 3. For the older of the two phones, renamed P003-07-1-00.bin to P0S3-07-.bin, making it

SIP Firmware for Cisco Phones
Just a quick note to people looking for SIP firmware images for Cisco phones: To access these files from Cisco's website, you need to have a Service Contract (SmartNet) on at least on of your phones. I though a contract was several hundred dollars, but it is way cheaper! Their lowest level, 1 year Next Business Day 8x5 SmartNet program, costs around $70.00, and gives you unlimited access to
