Different Dial tones for internal and external.
On systems even key systems it is customary to have an 'internal' dial
tone.
Since Asterisk simply ignores the 9 and keeps the tone going it is hard
to tell for some 'new users' if they can make a call.
My first idea was to change the generated dial tone via source. Then if
the user presses 9 go to a different context where I would record about
30 seconds of the normal dial

Secondary Dialtone and selecting a specific line from Zap/g
I need to select a line from the Zap group channel
using the SIP Phone (not FXO and not FXS ports).
ignorepat does not work?
Also, what is the method to let the second dial tone
has another tone frequency?
Regards
Bilal

No, ignorepat is for FXS ports (FXS ports use FXO
signaling). Also,
ignorepat does not apply to SIP phones, because SIP
phones provide

netmeeting dial
HI, I'm using netmeeting to connect to an asterisk server and dial out.
my extension looks like this
exten => s,1,Dial,Zap/1/
Unfortunatelly the number that I have dialed in Netmeeting is lost ;-(
If I hardcode the number on the line above, like ...
exten => s,1,Dial,Zap/1/6642794
... everything works fine
What am I missing?

can the dialtone be changed after pressing 9?
extensions.conf has
ignorepat => 9
exten => _9X.,1,Dial(Zap/G2/${EXTEN:1})
The first user to try it asked if instead of keeping the same dialtone
after pressing 9, if I could play a different dialtone. Can this be
done? I'm running asterisk 1.0.0 in case that matters.

Simulated dialtone like in other PBX
Guys..
Im new to asterisk but is it possible to simulate a dialtone for example, in
other PBX when you pick up the phone you can hear a certain dialup, which is
the PBX dialtone, and when you hit 9, you can hear the PSTN dialtone, is

dial '0' for outside line and get a dialtone...
Hi everyone!
I'd like to create the following: a user picks up the phone (gets a dial
tone), dials '0' for an 'outside' line, gets a second (different?)
dialtone, and is able to enter an external phone number.
How do I implement this in extensions.conf...?

Adit 600 - Getting Dial Tone
Hello, I have an Adit 600 (3 FXS cards) hooked up to a digium T1 card in my
asterisk box. I 'connected' the slots to the a:1 T1 interfaces via the
command line. The slots (3 fxs) are configured with 'ls' signaling. I
configured the T1 card with the same line settings as the T1 interfaces on
the adit and I get green lights on both the T1 card and the T1 interface on
the adit (so

Earliest dial tone, after boot up.
New system install.
At what point, in bootup, should I be able to get a dial tone on the phone ports on a tdm400p? There are two fxo and two fxs ports. I know which to plug into <g>.
At boot up, as soon as wctdm is loaded, all the ports "go green, yet I do not get a dial tone on the phone ports. I thought as long as zapata.conf is correct, the board should be

Customized Ring Tone
Hello all,
I'm running Asterisk 1.4.5 and Zaptel 1.4.3 on Debian Etch i386 with the
Digium's Dev Kit that comes with 1 FXO and 1 FXS. How do I configure my
home PBX in such a way that whenever someone calls on my trunkline (PSTN)
number, he/she will hear a customized ring tone, probably playing an MP3

Remote dialtone
Hi,
I have two asterisks connected via IAX2 trunk. The first * use dial
prefix 2XX, the second one 3XX.
Calls routing works OK.
But I don't know how to get dialtone of remote asterisk pbx.
I'd like to get dialtone of asterisk #2 after dialing 3 and dialtone of
asterisk #1 after dialing 2.
I know something about DISA but I'm not sure if it is a right way.
Can you give me advice?

How to present a dialtone to a dial-in user?
Hello,
Here's what I'd like to do: call my Asterisk box from a phone, hangup after
a few rings, then Asterisk calls me back and presents a dialtone, than I can
dial any valid number in the context the call originated.
I've done it with CAPI (thanks to the script on
http://www.junghanns.net/asterisk/page14.html), I'd like to do it with H323.
Problem is, how to present a
