Gnophone no sound
Hello all,
I'am trying to use 2 gnophones on my LAN. But I can't get any sound.
Here is my configuration:
1. on PC1, I have:
- Asterisk compiled from CVS (CVS-05/15/03) and it runs.
- Gnophone binary version from Debian: 0.2.4+cvs.20020624-3
- a sound card working ( module es1371 for /dev/dsp)
- I registered it as "alice" in extensions.conf

gnophone and RH9 comments and questions
Hello, trying to get gnophone to fully function under RH9 and finally have the browser working from the rpm from 2001. Turns out I had to get an old Mozilla 1.2 version and alter the startup gnophone script to point to it (MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME and LD_LIBRARY_PATH).
How much better is the CVS stuff? I cvs checked out the gnophone and the Changelog only shows a comment about 0.2.5 but no real changes.

Gnophone installation problems
Hi all,
I installed all needed RPMs by GnoPhone to be installed without problems
but when attempting to install GnoPhone itself I get this message:

IBM T30, Redhat 9, Gnophone, mono PCM, Internet PhoneCard
I have just finished installing all the pieces of Redhat Linux 9
(2.4.20-8), Asterisk-0.9.1, Gnophone-0.2.4 on my IBM T30.
Audio card is SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio. Not sure what the chips
are. But everything works on both W/XP and RH9. (Machine is obviously
dual boot)
Everything starts, Asterisk is up, sound/audio is great for CD player,
Volume controls, Voice recorder, RealPlayer, etc.

gnophone
I am having a really hard time getting gnophone working with asterisk.
Gnophone tries to register with my server but there is no response. I
can direct incoming calls to gnophone but if gnophone answers them,
asterisk does not recognize it. Here is my configuration:
iax.conf
[jambo]
type=user
host=dynamic
defaultip=136.159.99.100
permit=136.159.99.100

phonecore, gnophone from CVS.
Hi!
I was trying to use gnophone with asterisk, but I can't make a call (It
just get the a answer of "REJET"), but I can register an everything.
Anyway, I decided to move to the cvs version of gnophone, so I checked
out EVERYTHING from cvs.digium.com (yes, a cvs -z7 co .). I installed
libiax2, gsm (the one that was inside gnophone), and got gnophone to
start compiling. But

Gnophone and Asterisk
How do I get Gnophone to register to my Asterisk server? I have set up iax.
conf as follows:

host=dynamic
;defaultip=207.194.60.56
secret=1111
context=from-iax
callerid => "Tim" <5000>
auth=plaintext
qualify=10
permit=0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0
and extensions.conf includes a section in the context from-iax:
exten => 5000,1,Dial(IAX/tim/s|100|r)

gnophone/IAX problem
Greetings everyone,
I'm still a newbie, so please indulge me. I have set up an asterisk
server on my RH9 boxes for testing. Instead of immediately launching into
the hardware aspect of it I decided to go with 2 IAX clients (gnophone)
which I placed on 2 other strategic machines within my LAN. Here's my
problem, on one of the IAX clients (gnophone) I am able to do the asterisk

gnophone conf question
I hope this isn't something newbiesque and Steve will denigrate me. . .
I just built gnophone, and I'm having trouble figuring out just how to
sync the "Telephony Preferences" in gnophone and iax.conf on my asterisk
server.
I am heading on a trip and I'm pretty sure I'm going to be behind a NAT
gateway, and my asterisk server is *separately* behind a NAT gateway.

gnophone experts!
Are there any self described or otherwise gnophone experts out there?
Maybe I'm a stickler for pain but I'm having a lot of gnophone problems
and conventional wisdom tells me that they should be able to be figured
out. However, after reading all the documentation, reviewing the files, I am left
feeling that I am no closer to the answers than when I first began. So if

Gnophone URL
Sorry, this is a re-post. I sent the message from the wrong e-mail address. I was checking up on the cvs changes.
Hi. I just tried setting up the send url function of Queue app, but it did not seem to work with gnophone. I must have missed something. It never tries to go to the page.
I have this in extensions.conf:
exten => 1,3,Queue(support,t,http://www.yahoo.com)
It shows in the

gnophone transfer
hello,
Is there a way to transfer the call via gnophone, without calling other
user and pressing conf on both calls, it seems that all traffic is still
going through the gnophone, not that optimal i guess.
thanks

gnophone 0.2.4 and asterisk 1.0.6
Hello,
Does gnophone 0.2.4 work with asterisk 1.0.6?
I'm running Gentoo Linux with a 2.6.11 kernel,
and I'm getting the following when I try to
connect to asterisk from gnophone:

tunnel iax via gnophone with ssh?
Hey all...I'm trying to use gnophone to connect to my asterisk box
behind my firewall..I thought I could just setup a tunnel with something
like ssh host.com -L5036:asteriskserver:5036 and just change my gnophone
to connect to localhost:5036 but I never see anything happen on the
asterisk server. I'm even trying this on the same network just in case
there is something funky with NAT.

The Minimum Cost of Setting up an Asterisk Phone System?
Everyone--
Here's a cost analysis, rather crude and inspecific, of using Asterisk
to implement a phone system. I'm really quite naive and new to all this,
so I'd appreciate any corrections, tips, pointers, etc, from those in
the community, who have far greater experience, knowledge, skill, etc.
than I. Am I forgetting something important? Am I way off in my
estimates?

Xten / SIP Phones compared to GnoPhones
I have seen a couple of messages on the Xten and the work done by William
Walsh (Kudos). It is not clear in my mind the advantages of SIP phones
versus using GnoPhones (once we complete the work for the Windows version).
Since I lack the experience with IP SIP phones, can someone, high level,
tell me when it makes sense to use them. Is it complicated to set up on the
Asterisk side?
Thank you.
