odfWeave error
odfWeave is throwing up a cryptic error, after successfully processing a
file with a large number of figures (~30) and many \Sexpr{} calls. The
error is (at least to me) cryptic. I am not sure where to look to
correct this problem.
Here's the error:

function pointers?
We have a project that calls for the creation of a list of many
distribution objects. Distributions can be of various types, with
various parameters, but we ran into some problems. I started testing
on a simple list of rnorm-based objects.
I was a little surprised at the RAM storage requirements, here's an example:
N <- 10000
closureList <- vector("list", N)

3.7.1p1 PAM Problems in RedHat 6.2
I've corresponded with several different techs at a
major dedicated webhosting provider and they too
so far have not been able to determine why the
newest version of OpenSSH 3.7.1p1 is conflicting
with PAM on our server running RedHat linux 6.2.
I've also tried installing 3.7.1p1 on other RedHat 6.2
servers and the exact same PAM problems. But on
7.1 RedHat servers I've had absolutely

Integer vs numeric
Hi the list.
I do not understand the philosophy behind numeric and integer.
- 1 is numeric (which I find surprising)
- 2 is numeric.
- 1:2 is integer.
Why is that ?

Bulk smbcacls calls
I want to get ACLs (output similar to that of smbcacls) for a *lot* of
files (potentially millions). I can only process about 10 files per
second when running the command (`smbcacls -U ...` via a Python
wrapper), I'm looking for a faster way.
Does anyone know any libraries or other commands that could help me?
Failing that, I assume that much of the time taken is spent on
authenticating

truncating html text
I''ve got a fairly basic problem here that I''m hoping there is an easy
solution for.
I have a chunk of html code that I want to truncate to a given length...
say 20 characters or so.
If I use the ''truncate'' helper function I end up with unbalanced tags.
For example.
<a href=www.someplace.com>A really long string of words</a>

SELinux in CentOS 6
It keeps butting in when I try to install map software from Garmin
under Wine. I'm not nearly competent not willing to apply the remedy it
suggests. How do I get to someplace where I can disable it, or at least
set it to permissive?

Need basic help getting started
I have followed the instructions on the asterisk web
site to checkout the three files using CVS. I then
followed the instructions for make <filename> ; make
install in each directory. There seemed to be a lot of
error info flashing across the screen during each of
the processes.
I have verified that I meet the basic requirements

Off course people are going to ask. In my opinion as long
as a topic is marked OT, it is preferable to one not marked
but one in which the OP has not even done basic research
on his problem.

Profiling WINE (Game)
Hello,
I have a game which runs almost perfectly (Europa Universalis III), there's just one problem: when you click a province to open the dialog, there is a noticeable delay. Since it's a specific problem to diagnose, I'm hoping it'll be as simple as running a profiler to see which WINE function(s) the game calls to complete this task, and hopefully fix the problem function.

Quicken 2009
Well, I've been trying to install this. I was using Quicken 2006 Basic for quite awhile without problems, but Intuit quit supporting it and I couldn't do online banking anymore. The message said I had to upgrade to a newer version. So, I went to Intuit site, bought and downloaded Quicken 2009 basic (Starter, they call it now) and tried to install it with wine. The install seems to go fine,

Who knows where voicepulse has their asterisk servers?
I want to collocate an * box somewhere, where better than where voicepulse
chose to put their servers?
They probably did their homework and selected someplace where good handoff

Has anyone here ever tried using a wifi bridge to place a deskset in
