Obtaining Cisco Firmware painlessly?
Hi Everyone!,
I'm not sure if my previous request went through or not...It got
returned as not-deliverable??? Who knows!
Anyway, I need to get hold of the Cisco Firmware to upgrade a 7910G to
sip.
I know it can be a real pain in the butt getting hold of the firmware,
so any help in obtaining it relatively fast and painlessly would be much
appreciated.
Cheers
M.

OT - Cisco IP Phone and PC in different VLANs(with802.1x)
Switch is only tagging the vlan packets. Once the PC loads the vlan
aware driver ("client") it will be able to read tagged packet for the
vlan which PC has been configured to use. Nothing to be done on the
switch.

OT - Cisco IP Phone and PC in diferent VLANs(with 802.1x)
Cisco phones act a as a switch.
If you do not use the CDP protocol to "tell" the phone it needs to be in
a special VLAN (802.1q) then it will just use the access port settings
on the switch, and, also allow the PC connected to the 2nd Ethernet port
to have access to the network.
However, if you have an all cisco powered network, with all cisco
phones, I could advise you to use the CDP

Cisco contract for 7940/7960 firmware access
Maybe not the place for this but thought I'd post the info for others. I
purchased a cisco 7960 off ebay and needed to convert to SIP for *. I
know * supports SCCP but I wont go into that here. I'd read on
voip-info.org that a contract could be purchased for approx $8 to allow me
to download the firmware. I though, being in the UK, i'd get one through
a reseller in the UK.

Cisco 76XX - How to ignore a call (silence ring)
I am preparing to setup a system using Cisco 7940 and 7960's I have the
7.1 SIP firmware on them.
One issue I have run into is how to silence the ringer if a call comes
in and you don't want to take it.
Many phones have a DND button. I know the 79XX has the DND in the menu
but it is to cumbersome to go into the settings then phone preferences
then the DND and select yes.
Is there any other

Newbie 2 PBX VOIP, protocol ?'s using Cisco 827 7910
I am replacing a dead pbx with *. There are four lines I will be using.
There is a Cisco 827-4v already in place so I will move the lines from
the pbx to it.
I am working with Cisco 7910 phones and I understand they use the
Skinny/SCCP protocol. I am not sure if I should use chan_skinny or
chan_sccp?
However my main question is with communication. Do I need to use the
same protocol between the

Re: Problem converting a Cisco 7960 to SIP
Hello all,
I've got myself into a bizzare situation that I can't seem to get myself
out of... Was wondering if anyone had some advice that might get me 'over the
hill' on this...
Some background: PBX consists of an Asterisk box (running TrixBox), 4 Cisco
7960's, 2 Polycom IP500's, and now an additional Cisco 7960. The phones are
all on a separate LAN. There is

Guide to Cisco 79xx
Anybody have a guide to the Cisco 79xx phones? One that I can give the 7 or
8 ppl in my office so that they can stop asking me questions. I was going to
type up a basic guide but then decided I don't want to reinvent the wheel,
one of you may already have one. I tried to use Cisco's guide but it's for
their own protocol, a lot of options are different or rearranged.
I need a basic

I have set-up DHCP and TFTP servers for the IP phones.

Asterisk Now Beta 6 and CISCO IP 7910
Dear All,
Thank you for taking the time to read my message. I have just installed
Asterisk Now, and it seems to be up and running with no issues on my system.
The problem I am facing, is that I cannot find anywhere in the web
interface, to assign phones. I have a CISCO IP phone 7910 series, and I wish
for this to connect to the asterisk box. What's the best way of going about
this?

Cisco 7910 Handsets: Skinny protocol?
Dear all.
I have about 30 Cisco 7910 handsets, and my basic research has told me that
they are not SIP based handsets. Not to worry for now, I just need them to
connect to my asterisk server. They are giving me a bit of a hard time. Has
anyone here had any experience on how to do this? Documentation on the
internet is seriously lacking.
Best regards,
Mr Gabriel Ogunleye

Cisco 79xx users/consultants, 7970G color in particular share information (was: Re: asterisk-users Digest, Vol 44, Issue 3)
The documentation of how to use the 79xx series' phones and features
with Asterisk is really hard to find and put together. The higher end
phones like 7970 are more like converged PC+phone, a thin client to
telephony and network apps. But it's really hard to target it as a
development and deployment platform because the docs and techniques are
so obscure.
There seems to be a fair amount

Transfer issue with a Cisco CCM/phone
Hello,
We have a mixed environment here consisting of a number of Avaya PBX
systems, a group of Cisco Call Managers, an H.323 gateway on a Cisco
router, and an Asterisk server. The PBX land is connected to the VoIP
land using the Cisco router/H.323 gateway.
The Asterisk system is running code from the CVS tree from around mid
Oct 2005. The OH323 driver on the system is from inaccessnetworks,

* and Cisco routers
I am completely new to * ( I know read the archives but this is a little
different case)
I am trying to setup a Sip system out side my security firewalls for home
users. I currently run a Cisco avvid solution internally but it's highly
firwalled. I am planning on building a pri out of my 3745 cisco router and
pluging it in to a 3810 which is on the outside setup with sip and running a

Cisco 7940/7960
This may be OT, but I can't seem to find how to do this. I have
7940/7960's with Skinny on them. When you start pressing numbers on the
dialpad, you start building a number to dial. When I install SIP, that
functionality goes away. You have to hit the speaker button, or lift
the handset before you can start dialing. Is there a setting I am
missing, or is this just a product of

Cisco 7940 Configuration
Hello all,
I recently purchased a Cisco 7940 IP phone to do some testing with (to
validate a migration to asterisk for our internal PBX needs). I
understand that I need to update the phone for it to support SIP, so I
configured the phone with an IP address and pointed it at my tftp server.
When I reboot the phone I am currently getting "TFTP File Not Found
